A close family member playing for Scotland tonight, been sitting at the edge of our seats all night. He said not to celebrate, not a big deal. AIBU to think it is a big fucking deal that they have a point over England!? I am buzzing, but told to calm down. AIBU to think this is actually amazing and a step in the right direction??

@comebackineedyou it was a perfoto be proud of, I slated certain players on Monday but not one of them out there tonight gave anything less than their all. #canweactuallypossiblyhonestlyboogie?!?! Yes sir!

BettyBurntBuns · 18/06/2021 23:30

Step in what direction

Wakeupin2022 · 18/06/2021 23:30

babdoc I that is true then that us utterly appalling and all England fans should be chastising the whole England set up.

Shocking. My team might be shit a lot of the time but they always play with their heart. They are Scottish and proud and playing for the flag means something, win, lose or draw. I didn't realise it was so different for England.....

Cornwallnewbie · 18/06/2021 23:31

Well done your brother! It was fantastic

GrandTheftWalrus · 18/06/2021 23:33

Of course people were celebrating like it was a win. The minute England won the other day everywhere said 'it's coming home' so of course it's a small fuck you to England.

Also I once seen supporters celebrating another team getting beat like it was a champions league win and it was only the second game of the season.

Overdon · 18/06/2021 23:33

As an English woman and England supporter, I heartily applaud the Scottish side for their performance. The England team were insipid, they didn’t have any drive like the Scottish.
Coincidentally I had a lovely dream last about one of the Scottish players last night😍 But don’t worry it wasn’t your brother !(not a Celtic player).
I would be very proud too, hope you beat Croatia!

SofiaMichelle · 18/06/2021 23:34

@JewelGarden

I thought the Scotland football team were pretty good now? Did they not do quite well in something a couple of years back?
No. Most of the players weren't born last time Scotland made it into a championship.

They were great tonight, though!

roarfeckingroarr · 18/06/2021 23:34

Your fans were a disgrace trashing London, my home.

Funfortheroad · 18/06/2021 23:38

Oops should have said that obviously watching the little bro playing is v. exciting.

But I do feel so mortified that 'WE DIDN'T EXACTLY LOSE BECAUSE NOBODY WON! WE WEREN'T AS SHIT AS WE USUALLY ARE!' counts as a win for my country.

There have been many times the English fans have disgraced so I wouldn't get on your high horse. The worst I have seen so far is fairy liquid in a fountain. I've even seen pics of them picking up rubbish in Leicester Square!
shouldistop · 18/06/2021 23:41

Are these ones a disgrace too?

As an English person, congrats to Scotland. And good luck with the rest of the competition.

Gareth Southgate said winning was only a small part of the competition. I guess he was right!

TitsInAbsentia · 18/06/2021 23:42

I was rather concerned about the chap doing the caterpillar on the underground train with no pants on...I mean those tube train floors are filthy!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 18/06/2021 23:42

Well done to your relative. It’s an amazing achievement to play for their country. Of course you should celebrate.

I don’t support either of these two teams but we’ll done to him!

Goodness, you must have a short memory of you can't recall any recent protests in London. Literally shitting in their own bed.
KingsOfTheWildFrontier · 18/06/2021 23:48

OP well done to your brother! Scotland played fantastic and deserved to win. I know a very close relative of a Scotland player and delighted for them.
Some of the English commentators were saying England would win easily!! Grin

Selkiesarereal · 18/06/2021 23:52

Well done to your wee brother and the rest of the Scottish team, done us proud -at last!

CaptainSmartarse · 18/06/2021 23:52

You should be very proud of your close family member OP , as the team did well . I am watching from down South but remember some dire matches I took my weans' to in the 2000s at Hampden . ( Belarus??) They did good . Favourite of the match was Gilmour then Adams , Tiernay and O'Donnell . But they were all good . And I loved when both teams took the knee as respectful and proper .

plinkplinkfizzer · 18/06/2021 23:56

@comebackineedyou

My little brother Grin
Wow , you really must be proud . Congratulations to him for his achievement tonight .🎉
AliceSprings123 · 18/06/2021 23:57

You must be so proud of your..bro is it? Anyway, they are all so young, under 25 did one of the commentators say?, and playing at Wembley. Can't get better than that!
"It didn't look like England were really bothering much with the game"...come off it! They were trying to score and, didn't make it, early on.Three times, was it?
To me Scotland were good, England were OK, and I look forward to seeing both in their next matches.
Hopefully in better weather. That rain was brutal when it came down.

Flowerlane · 18/06/2021 23:58

Like others well done for your brother for being picked but really don’t think a game that ends a draw is a win, even if ‘on paper’ one side was better then the other…obviously not as no side scored. Confused

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 19/06/2021 00:08

I am in England and offer my congratulations to Scotland for being the better team in the match although it ended goalless. There was an expectation that this would be a though match because of the unique rivalry where although Scotland is the underdog, Scots always find an extra gear when its England. England on the other hand did perform badly under pressure in a match they would normally expect to win! Well done Scotland and come on England! And Scotland if you continue to play as well as this you may go forward to achieve more!
