To be incredibly proud of Scotland?

A close family member playing for Scotland tonight, been sitting at the edge of our seats all night. He said not to celebrate, not a big deal. AIBU to think it is a big fucking deal that they have a point over England!? I am buzzing, but told to calm down. AIBU to think this is actually amazing and a step in the right direction??

YANBU @comebackineedyou
Great game from Scotland and I would be bursting with pride if one of my relatives was in the team as they were all fab. They showed determination and resilience and deserved to win against a poor English side.

@Yesmate

You should be proud. Being selected for an international team is huge. Even if they’d have got hammered, the pride would be the same. As for a point over England, that’s not actually correct. Both teams earn one point. As an England fan, for me the most exciting part of the game was Beckham in a suit!
Ha yep I thought so too
BringBackDoves · 18/06/2021 22:44

England played abysmally but can play 100% better than that. Scotland played well and probably don’t have much more to give above that. They all seemed to be giving 110% whereas England were on about 20%. With a bit of luck on either side it could have gone either way so it was a fair point in the end I think.

Suspect the game means a lot more to the Scots than to the English (actually I know this to be true from my time living in Scotland). But must be so exciting having family involved.

I’m sure the Scots will have a great time celebrating. From an English perspective it was a bit ‘meh’ - I’m more bothered about the Czechs on Tuesday but I suspect we will play much better than today.

England looked like they couldn’t be bothered and Southgate is hopeless. I always find it strange that the only matches Scotland ever seem to make so much effort for is against England, why don’t they try harder against other teams? Maybe they wouldn’t have lost 2-0 the other day.

It’s a good result for England really, this is not a group you want to top.

Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 played very well. Well done to your relative, you must be very proud.

BringBackDoves · 18/06/2021 22:45

Agree; coming 2nd is a much better draw in the next round for England

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 18/06/2021 22:46

Ah that’s awesome. Were you at Wembley?
ludothedog · 18/06/2021 22:47

Well done to your little brother op. You should be proud! It is a big deal and a draw against the auld enemy is a good score for Scotland!

66babe · 18/06/2021 22:47

We were dead fab! Gon yersel

shouldistop · 18/06/2021 22:47

Aww your wee brother? No wonder you're buzzing!

Scautish · 18/06/2021 22:48

YANBU OP. Scotland were brilliant - absolutely deserved the draw (and were the better team). Every single player should be proud.

(Though it’s so tedious to have to listen to English commenters banging on about England playing badly rather than just saying actually, Scotland played really well)

66babe · 18/06/2021 22:48

Well done to your wee brother too!

Yesmate · 18/06/2021 22:49

OMG not just a close relative your little brother. That is incredible! I honestly would be beside myself with pride, I bet your nerves are shredded after watching the game though!

Scautish · 18/06/2021 22:51

Please say who….please!

But whoever he is, your wee bro did you proud.

Fernando072020 · 18/06/2021 22:52

Must've been amazing to watch your brother, op! Scotland really played well.

I'm still in awe at Gilmour at 20 years old! So impressive!

SticksAndStoned · 18/06/2021 22:52

It was a draw. But on paper that should have been an easy win for England. England have a lot of great players at their disposal

Fair enough. I guess it's about perception. To me 'a point over England' makes it seem like we got one point more. We didn't. But I get what op meant now.

MaMelon · 18/06/2021 22:52

Wow - well done your wee brother!! You must all be v proud of him FootballStar

SilverGlitterBaubles · 18/06/2021 22:53

Amazing OP, Scotland were the better team Smile

TuvoknotSpock · 18/06/2021 22:53

Aww that's lovely! I didn't know the result as don't like football but would be so pleased in your position that he made the national team! What team does he play for normally?

user1471453601 · 18/06/2021 22:55

Well done, your brother😁😁. I'm english, but hold no brief for this side.

But the result was entirely predictable. Of course Scotland had all guns blazing, and England had vv little inspiration
, Especially in midfield.

Robson couldn't play his normal game, too busy defending. And Steve Clarke played a blinder.

The last two sentences may give you a clue to the team I do support.

Lemonwoe · 18/06/2021 22:56

As a Scot, we’re just delighted that our team is getting to take part! I mean, we’re not likely to win anything, but getting to join the fun is just brilliant
