of course you are not being unreasonable

try to rise above it, the majority of mums, apart from her clique would not doubt be appalled she was drink driving and hit someone.

dd666 · 21/11/2007 12:14

oh dear sorry i have no advise

meh · 21/11/2007 12:14

Was she breathalysed?

goingfor3 · 21/11/2007 12:15

It sounds really hard you for. You are definatley doing the right thing and the woman driving drunk is an appaling woman as are her friends for pretty condoning what she has done.

meh · 21/11/2007 12:15

Sorry. yes she was - must read properly!!

foofi · 21/11/2007 12:15

You couldn't make it up!

kindersurprise · 21/11/2007 12:15

YANBU.

I think that she is trying to distract attention from her wrongdoing by making out that you are the one to blame. She should be ashamed of herself.

nimnom · 21/11/2007 12:16

You did the right thing. It could have been so much worse. Playground politics drive me mad - imagine if it had been one of their little darlings who had been involved - it doesn't bear thinking about. Stick to your guns and don't worry about the whisperers - you are in the right!

Mistymoo · 21/11/2007 12:16

YANBU

Sorry that you are in the middle of this but hold your head up knowing that you did the right thing. You are obviously not the only one who saw this. The driver will obviously only tell her friends what she wants them to hear. Hope you get through it OK.

Zog · 21/11/2007 12:16

Are you sure that they are "filled with hate"? TBH, you know that right is on your side, so I would hold your head high and ignore any snippiness - this woman will be punished by the courts, I'm sure.

meh · 21/11/2007 12:16

Surely her insurance company can't act if she was over the limit?

Saturn74 · 21/11/2007 12:16

Stand firm.

And keep mentioning loudly how lucky it is that the pregnant woman wasn't seriously hurt.

And comment about the blatant stupidity of drink driving.

And how, instead of trying to blag her way out of it, this stupid woman should be thanking her lucky stars that she isn't facing time in jail for causing the deaths of innocent people.

CaptainUnderpants · 21/11/2007 12:17

Easier said than done but dont worry about it . Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that she was in the wrong , she obviously has a band of friends that are small minded !

Dont let them intimidate you !!

goingfor3 · 21/11/2007 12:18

She probably hasn't told her friends she was over the limit.

CaptainUnderpants · 21/11/2007 12:20

She'll have some explaining to do when she can no longer drive on the school run !

I see a driving ban coming on !

I would keep cool and not say anything about it all. the at least you know that you haven't added fuel to their fire !

CrushWithEyeliner · 21/11/2007 12:21

agree with Humphrey - make it known that she was drunk if need be- stupid woman

VictorianSqualor · 21/11/2007 12:24

Oh, Goodness, thank Heavens it wasn't a chld she hit that crossed the road without looking!

I'd be inclined to go up to the woman who hit the other car and tell her, loud enough for everyone to hear "I just wanted to say I hope there's no hard feelings with me having to give a witness statement about your accident, I understand that with you being over the limit you could lose your licence which could be terrible with you having to ferry children around, but tbh, i really have no choice, I feel awful about getting involved, but I spoke to the officers at the scene and don't really se how I could not give evidence, I would assume if you weren't too high over the limit you'll be ok, Good Luck"

lomond · 21/11/2007 12:24

You are doing the right thing, what if she had hit a child? Ignore her and her friends. If she hasn't told everyone that she was over the limit then I would!

Carmenere · 21/11/2007 12:33

I can't imagine that her friends know the full story. I mean they just can't, can they because no one in their right mind could defend what she did.
Mostly in life I tend to ignore stupidity like this but in this case I would actually face at least one of them down and say that you are doing it for the protection of their children. a woman who drinks before the school run has a problem, it is so, so, extraordinarily stupid that she must be either terminally thick or an alcoholic, either way she deserves to lose her license.
Tell her friends LOUDLY that she was over the limit.

Beelliesebub · 21/11/2007 12:34

YANBU...... How dare she think she's in the right!
I honestly think that people who drink and drive are the scum of the earth, who care's if they kill themselves, that's the choice they made but what about the people they kill or maim because they're too weak to say no to a glass of wine or two at lunch...... She should think herself lucky she didn't kill anyone!

Baffy · 21/11/2007 12:37

Agree with Carmenere

SoupDragon · 21/11/2007 12:40

I would definitely be making it known that she failed a breath test. Provided I was 101% sure that she did.

StealthPolarBear · 21/11/2007 12:43

SHe must have been pretty bad to be on the wrong side of the road
Do you know if the pregnant woman was ok?

Bouncingturtle · 21/11/2007 12:54

That poor, poor pg lady - hope she is ok. You are to be commended for making a statement, don't let her small minded and nasty friends get to you. And I would defintely making known she failed a breath test. Stupid woman, what really pisses me off is she deserves a jail term which she won't get because she has kids. Well she should have thought of her kids first before she got in the car pissed Were they in the car at the time? Poor kids anyway.

Emprexia · 21/11/2007 12:57

Whenever anyone whispers around you, i'd turn to the nearest person and say very loudly how disgusting it was that this lady was drink-driving with her kids in the car and how you hope the heavily pregnant lady was ok.
