For me it's Morning Fresh. I thought it was shite a decade ago. Bought it again recently and it is still crap. It doesn't lather and my usual Aldi own brand is far superior. How on earth has it survived this long?

"Heinz is premium as it's named"

Something isnt automatically a valuable/premium brand simply because it has the manufacturers name printed on the tin Hmm

@Thewiseoneincognito

Hotel Chocolate- cheap plastic tasting garbage in excessive packaging.

Nespresso stores- it feels so pretentious queueing to buy your capsules, the coffee is good but the whole concept just makes me feel sleazy and a bit new money / chav. They really try to create the feeling of a superior product and boutique experience but it just aggravates me. I should buy a proper coffee machine but I hate the sight of them and the last thing I’d want is for my kitchen to look like a Costa 🤢

Wtf buying coffee makes you feel like a chav/new money? 😂 just don't buy it if you feel that judgemental about it!
PattyPan · 15/06/2021 10:05

@PerciphonePuma dark chocolate doesn’t normally have dairy in it, don’t worry. 90% chocolate will pretty much be 90% cocoa, 9% sugar and 1% additives/flavouring.

@Lochroy fairy liquid is premium?? I thought it was the normal one! I buy ecover but I thought fairy was the best selling washing up liquid and therefore just standard.

CatkinToadflax · 15/06/2021 10:08

Our Dyson is crap. It's so crap that our fab cleaning lady brings her own Shark with her to do our vacuuming. I wish I'd heard of Shark before I forked out for the Dyson.

groovergirl · 15/06/2021 10:10

My xp is Brazilian and he was totally bemused when I told him Havianas were an expensive brand of flip flop here.

Grin I, too, was totally bemused to see Havianas for sale in Sydney for $20 and being hyped as high fashion. I'd bought mine for the equivalent of 50 cents in a Brazilian supermarket! They're just the most basic footwear in Brazil. Mine were really good and hard-wearing, tho; by the time they were pinched from a public shower I'd had them almost 10 years.

@FrostyFruit

Nike shoes. Maybe not premium for some people but at $200 a pair in Australia they are a rip off. My boys always want them, then they fall apart within a month! Used to be way better quality when I was a teen.
really?

I've always found Nike to be excellent quality - have a pair that's lasted years and years!

ExConstance · 15/06/2021 10:15

Hush. The quality is far worse than Boden. Our local John Lewis had Boden and hush next to each other, the difference in quality could be felt on the rails. Also Jo Malone, I have some "Jo Loves" fragrance now and it is so much more full of scented ooomph.

00100001 · 15/06/2021 10:17

what's interestingis what peopel consider "premium" Confused

Morning Fresh and Heinz baked beans a premium product?

For me the premium versions of washing up liquid and beans would be something like:
Rhubarb Washing Up liquid at £12 (coltandwillow.com/products/washing-up-liquid?variant=36733910581406)

or
WHole Earth organic baked beans
shop.wholeearthfoods.com/products/whole-earth-organic-baked-beans-420-g

granted, I'd query whether there is even such a thing as "premium" canned beans...

cuparfull · 15/06/2021 10:20

@AgeLikeWine

Land Rover & Range Rover SUVs. Unreliable, badly built, poor quality junk.

They may look good & be fantastic off-road in theory, but nobody ever uses them for that purpose because they are always in the dealer’s workshops having yet another electrical fault fixed. Or not fixed, if the entirely useless dealership in my area is typical.

Any company that builds vehicles that require the whole body to be lifted off the chassis ....just to replace the turbos, deserves shit ratings....Who designs cars like that. A £7k repair job DOH!
Bellevu · 15/06/2021 10:21

Dyson. £350 worth of impotent rage every time I use the ineffective waste of space.

Thewiseoneincognito · 15/06/2021 10:22

@miltonj Wtf buying coffee makes you feel like a chav/new money? 😂 just don't buy it if you feel that judgemental about it!

😆😁 Honestly I hate it, I wish they’d just sell it in supermarkets to make life easier. They ask for your name and postcode when you’re buying a few sleeves of coffee. I just want some Ristrettos not a loan and I don’t care if the limited edition has notes of unicorns and heaven in it, it all tastes the same!!

It’s the ultimate in faffy poncyness if such words exist 🤣🙈

FuckyouCovid21 · 15/06/2021 10:24

@Thewiseoneincognito

I love my Dyson, it works fantastically, a quick clean of the filter and it’s like new every time. I think some of the hate on here is from those whose budget just reaches a Vax 😉
The hate is from people who waste their money on something which does not live up to the hype. I paid £499 for a Dyson which is a lot of money regardless, it was totally shit and I ended up selling it on FB and buying a Henry which is brilliant.
Acatnamedfox · 15/06/2021 10:28

Smeg - breaks so easily
Charlotte Tilbury - so cheap
Clinique - gives me the shivers

These probably aren’t “premium” enough for the Ladies and Aristocracy of mumsnet but they’re all a waste of money and massively disappointing 😂

Anoisagusaris · 15/06/2021 10:33

@Thewiseoneincognito you can get a wide range of nespresso compatible pods in supermarkets now. Unlike when they first came out, they work fine.

ChrissyPlummer · 15/06/2021 10:35

GHDs - used to be amazing, now absolute rubbish. I still have my original pair. I have a pixie now and don’t really need to use them as they are literally hanging on by a thread. New ones don’t get hot enough.

Cloud 9 are the same - they just don’t get hot enough for those of us with thick, unmanageable, wavy hair.

Most High St clothes - may as well go to Primark/supermarkets as the quality is about the same and I’m not upset if I’ve paid a tenner for something that’s not brilliant, if I’ve paid £30+ though.

Jo Malone - always my go-to but so weak and ineffective for the price.

MAC - specifically the foundation (Studio Fix/Pro Longwear) don’t know if it’s the wearing of a mask or what but it never used to budge, now I’m lucky if I get a 7 1/2 hour shift out of it. Still use the same primer and setting powder but I just can’t get it to stay 😫.

Anoisagusaris · 15/06/2021 10:36

I have identical boots from LK Bennett they cost €270 and ones that cost €30. Both uncomfortable as f*ck! I love the style and thought the LK Bennett would be comfortable but they are just as bad as the cheap ones. They look identical too.

Nodal · 15/06/2021 10:40

I agree with Hunter and haviannas (and Elna sewing machines) - really shit quality sice they switched production location.

I love my Dyson - BUT I only have handholds and they are only great for about 2 years then they become shit - making them very bad value for money. Not as shit as the Shark I bought though, which is truly useless.

I agreet Lindt is pretty bland. I like Hotel Chocolat though? Which choclate is better? I prefer milk chocolate though so am already a pleb ....

Thewiseoneincognito · 15/06/2021 10:40

@FuckyouCovid21 lol I was going to put Henry instead of Vax for the low budget example 😂 how is a Henry even remotely better than a Dyson? 😂🤣😂

IARTNS · 15/06/2021 10:41

Those moaning about Hellmans Mayo

This stuff is the best www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/262110048

PLease stop knocking Hotel Chocolat, I am so looking forward to going into the city to the shop! Not had any for over 18 months.
whatistheworld · 15/06/2021 10:45

Dyson - 100% total waste of money and we have had lots of them both handheld and standard.
Landrover - rubbish
Haviannas - really uncomfortable
White stuff - rubbish quality
Next & M & S - gone down hill, frumpy and poor quality
Kate Spade bags - nice but not worth the price tag at all
Hunter wellies - rubbish
Hotel Chocolat - rank
Lindt - rank

FearlessSwiftie · 15/06/2021 10:49

Pandora, which I just don't get and I didnt't get it when I was younger. It's just popular. Why?
Dyson, another vote for the worst hoover ever
The North Face, which I don't find good looking (just a taste thing but still)
Starbucks, seems overrated to me.

Also it makes me cringe when people go on bragging about how they never ever use free software because 'it can't perform the same results, you know?' and how 'Adobe products are better than everything'. Adobe does great job but it doesn't mean GIMP or Photodiva do any worse and not everybody in this world is a great fan of a subscription model in the first place. It's a niche thing but still it irritates me.

HazelBite · 15/06/2021 10:51

Dorma (Household linens)
Bought at great expense to co-ordinate with bedroom and bathroom.

Managed to get similar items colour in ASDA at a later date and the quality is so much better and has lasted well,

Agree about the beans Tesco own brad or Branston are best also my VAX cleaner lasted for years compared to the high maintenance Dyson,

JudgeJ · 15/06/2021 10:51

@WarmAndFluff

Dyson here too - I've bought two unbelievable expensive ones in case the first time was a fluke. No loss of suction my arse, they were both useless within 6 months (and I tried all the messy washing out the filters business). Would never buy again.
I've had one of the cheapest Dysons for 8 years with no any problems, maybe it's the same as hi-tech washng machines, the more to go wrong the mose likely it will! My SIL had four expensive, all singing all dancing washing machines during the time I had the very basic Miele that she thought I was fool for buying! In 40 years I've had two basic Miele machines.

Dorma, Christy etc were all excellent brands when they were made in the UK, now they're no different from the cheaper brands. I'm looking to buy new towels, mine aren't especially old but their labels say Made in England! We used to go the a factory shop for them and the Dorma Factory shop too was wonderful.
