To ask about another restricted Christmas?

TwinsAndTrifle · 13/06/2021 15:25

I know it's the summer....but I'm an active member on the Christmas boards, and a few people have made the same comment, about Christmas forthcoming.

They state that they are really planning ahead this year, as they foresee another lockdown Christmas, or very tight restrictions coming back for the winter season.

Do many people share this view? It hadn't even crossed my mind, what with all the vaccines that will be in place by then.

AIBU to think that Christmas this year will be pretty much unaffected?

Yes/YABU: I think there will be a very restricted, or lockdown Christmas again.

No/YANBU: It will be a normal Christmas, or affected so minimally that you barely notice.

Honestly I couldn't care less - none of us will be complying with any restrictions and we will be enjoying time together as a family.

Well. Considering the complete disregard for a pandemic shown by the UK last Christmas I can't imagine anyone will listen to any advice if it is needed. People dgaf about anythi g but their faked celebration of a made up god.

Roselilly36 · 13/06/2021 19:11

I don’t think they will be restrictions at Xmas, for a number of reasons, mainly because people have had enough and won’t comply.

Who says god has anything to do with a bloody good excuse to party, feast and be with friends and family? Grin. That I definitely give a fuck about.

I spent Christmas Day on my own last year because of Covid, so I'm not doing it again this year no matter what.
cocoloco987 · 14/06/2021 19:09

Our Christmas holidays (local authority) have been brought forward a week in anticipation of another wave!

Holly60 · 14/06/2021 19:44

@BiniorellaSun

People are so over Covid! No one will still be complying at Christmas!
I am indeed over covid. I will also comply with any rules put in place. Because, ya know, self restraint.
Holly60 · 14/06/2021 19:46

@Waxonwaxoff0 that sounds really tough. I very much hope that if there are restrictions they will take into account anyone who is on their own and make it clear that no one needs to be completely by themselves.

Biker47 · 14/06/2021 19:52

I didn't comply last Christmas, so like fuck would anything change my plans for the upcoming Christmas.

Thanks. I could have gone to my mum's but my grandfather was there for Christmas, I work out of the home in a factory and have young DS at school so really wasn't comfortable putting him at risk with the cases being so high at the time. DS was at his dad's at Christmas (we are divorced) so it is what it is! Hopefully this year will be better.

I think something will be in place unless boosters are really on track.

With covid and flu season together will definitely be shopping early and preparing in advance so that gifts can be delivered and wrapped for handing out.

Not making huge plans or booking any events then not much will change bar the food order.

ThornAmongstRoses · 14/06/2021 20:15

I predict a very lock-downed Winter - including Christmas.

I predict a lot of people no longer complying with that and it's unenforceable so there you go.
cocoloco987 · 14/06/2021 20:32

Well you can't exactly go to shops, bars and restaurants that aren't open. Or to events that aren't on, or go to a school that is closed so I'm not sure there will be much option.!

It’s people like you that make the rest of suffer for longer.

I do not appreciate you Biker47 nor any like you.

(Is that more acceptable phrasing @mnhq?)

But you can mingle and it's not likely to be stopped. I'm out of the country if this happens again, though. The lockdown luvies can have their non-fun and their economic disaster, too.
socialmediamishap · 14/06/2021 20:42

@ThornAmongstRoses well if you predict it, it must be true! Totally disregarding anything Whitty said this evening ie we need to live with is.

HOkieCOkie · 14/06/2021 20:50

I’ll be spending Xmas with my family

cocoloco987 · 14/06/2021 21:44

Sure you can mingle, with others that want to ignore it too but if things are locked down you won't be able to go to a Christmas market, or on a weekend break, or a day out shopping with a spot of lunch, have a Christmas night out and sing some karaoke. Lockdown isn't something you can not comply with apart from the small part that is mixing in people's houses. It's not optional.
