Why can't the TV channels stop filming while a player is being resuscitated rather than commenting on it. I've switched off. Hope they stop soon

RoseAndRose · 12/06/2021 18:57

But I can't really understand why they couldn't cut the feed and go back to the studio or whatever

Very much agree

Bourbonic · 12/06/2021 18:57

Also, Anthony Taylor, the referee did a superb job.

The rapid action of all on the pitch and supporting have saved Eriksen's life.

RugratMum · 12/06/2021 18:58

Well, I didn't know about it until this thread... I do wonder if it's really respectful to the man's privacy to start a thread about his medical incident.

Fair enough you want to talk gossip about it, it's human nature (albeit one of the less admirable facets of it) but it's somewhat ironic to do that whilst tutting at the broadcasters for doing the same.

IronTeeth · 12/06/2021 18:58

@fashionablefennel

i have reported this thread, it's vile to gossip about the event. I did click on it because I had no idea what it was about, I don't watch football.
They are not gossiping, they are discussing how it is not acceptable to continue live filming while something deeply personal is happening Hmm
SheldonesqueTheBstard · 12/06/2021 18:58

"Finnish fans chanting "Christian", Danes answering with "Eriksen" here at Parken. Even in its darkest times, this is a beautiful game"

Indeed it is.

itsgettingwierd · 12/06/2021 19:00

This isnt gossip.

Media reporting is very much a hot topic atm with the various things in the media and some truths being uncovered.

It's important to discuss what we think should and shouldn't be broadcast. Especially when it involves the BBC which we fund.

Tal45 · 12/06/2021 19:02

Stabilised in hospital I just read, such quick action by everyone hopefully saved his life. My thoughts are with him and his family, we switched on to see the score literally seconds after it happened.

RugratMum · 12/06/2021 19:03

Oh, there's definitely gossip on this thread- how he went down, what we think the cause was, how his wife reacted, how the team reacted... Lots of gossip is hidden behind a veil of concern, but it's still gossip. First comment, 'Bloody hell, where? Really?'

wheresmyhairytoe · 12/06/2021 19:05

People are shocked and wanting to process what they had seen.

RugratMum · 12/06/2021 19:06

@wheresmyhairytoe

People are shocked and wanting to process what they had seen.
Yeah, that's the basic impulse that drives gossip. 'I'm shocked... I must share what I have seen with others and discuss it further.'

You know... gossip.

Viggohytten · 12/06/2021 19:07

@lljkk

My tuppence: I don't object to the filming continuing. We shouldn't hide these things away.
I agree.
OhGiveUp · 12/06/2021 19:10

I hope he makes a good recovery. 🙏 I feel so sorry for both him and his family.
I can't believe that the match is to resume at 20.30 this evening.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 12/06/2021 19:15

Surprised its going ahead but wouldn't have have done without players say so

RoseAndRose · 12/06/2021 19:15

UEFA tweet:

Following the request made by players of both teams, UEFA has agreed to restart the match between Denmark and Finland tonight at 20:30 CET (TBC).

The last four minutes of the first half will be played, there will then be a 5-minute half-time break followed by the second half.

Pedalpushers · 12/06/2021 19:16

@RugratMum you've admitted you don't follow football and didn't know anything about it, so it seems you are only here to be superior to all of the 'gossips' (people who do follow football and watched the incident).

Alloftheboys · 12/06/2021 19:22

I think there’s only a few posters here “gossiping” the majority are trying to process their feelings after witnessing a traumatic event.
Personally I had to explain the events to my kids who were watching the match with me.
Now I wanted to discuss the event in a more adult way.

I certainly don’t agree with some of the images shown as Eriksen was being treated, but his collapse was shown as was the immediate aftermath as no one realised what was happening or how serious it was.

Bourbonic · 12/06/2021 19:23

With respect, I don't think commenting on how various people reacted is gossip.

FoxBaseBeta · 12/06/2021 19:24

I came to see if there was a thread...Maybe I'm a gossip but I happened to see it while DH was watching and seeing the CPR start made me think of my dad and the CPR he was given, that sadly didn't work. I suspect there a lot of people out there who saw it and need to process what they saw.
I am so relieved for his family Flowers

MorganKitten · 12/06/2021 19:24

He is in hospital and awake, no news channels have shown the footage, just the picture of him awake, being taken from the pitch.

BBC cut to the studio when they realised how bad it was and other shows played instead.

Denmark have asked that they replay the match tonight.

Viggohytten · 12/06/2021 19:30

I don’t think these things should be hidden. I think we should see things like this - it becomes education. The more educated we are, the quicker and more appropriately we would act if the same thing happened in from of us. The speed of the Finnish player, then the referee, then the medics probably saved his life.

We are so precious about things like this, when the more open we are, the better we react in such circumstances.

I do not agree with zooming in on his wife, but capturing her accidentally is understandable.

RugratMum · 12/06/2021 19:31

I don't follow the Euros. I have a local team I follow, but fail to see what that's got to do with this thread tbh.

I just think it's ironic is all. 'Oh, isn't it dreadful, give the poor man and his wife some privacy! Meanwhile, let's discuss it in detail.'

I mean, do what you like, but own it. The majority of people like to dissect misfortune they've witnessed; rubber-neckers at RTAs are clear evidence of that.

It wasn’t an accidental capture.
MorganKitten · 12/06/2021 19:35

Restarted the game now, the BBC have confirmed the stream is UEFA so they changed the programming as soon as they could.

With players around him and the screens you didn’t seem anything.

In a way it shows that people come together to support someone hurt. Including the fans.

Viggohytten · 12/06/2021 19:36

It wasn’t an accidental capture

I know and I said I didn’t agree with it.

Smokeahontas · 12/06/2021 19:36

The BBC are now peddling the line ‘we weren’t in control of the pictures’.

But they were in control of the broadcast. They could have cut back to the studio or even in the circs, a breakdown slide.

To show Christian Eriksen in clear medical distress and his wife utterly distraught on the sidelines, is vile.
