Ear-piercing 2 - Petition if you decided Rumpel WNBU

Hello everyone!

The thread to debate the pros and cons of piercing babies' and children's ears still exists, and it's here.

But, if you've thought about it and have decided that you agree with the OP, you can sign two petitions, conveniently righthere.

Click on the link, then enter 'ear piercing' into the search box. That will bring up two petitions. One is to ban the procedure on all children under 10, the other is about banning it for under-2s.

If you sign the under-10s one, please also sign the Under-2s one!

it all only takes a minute! I have the attention span of a gnat on amphetamines, and if I can do it, so can you!

Alternatively, if you object to small defenceless children being dressed up as Santa or a Christmas Pud, then you can sign my petition at www.noyourkiddoesnotlookbloodycuteinthatstupidoutfit.com.

Done.

Apparently medical advice is not to pierce a child's ear under the age of 12 in case damage is done to the still-soft cartilage. Don't know if that's true though.

Lazarou · 20/11/2007 22:10

lol

sugar34plum · 21/11/2007 07:19

lucky underpants in kids yes are you a child then?

CranberryMartini · 21/11/2007 07:30

Done

nappyaddict · 21/11/2007 07:45

those links just take me to the other thread

LuckyUnderpants · 21/11/2007 08:19

No i am not a child Sugar34, and 'trampish' is not a word i would use to describe a child, or an adult for that matter.

mummyofgirls · 21/11/2007 08:22

nappyaddict - mishymoo has posted a slightly more direct link further up on this thread. It might be easier to use.

seeker · 21/11/2007 08:34

'Trampish' is not a word I would generally use to describe anyone, adult or child. However, I think I would make an exception for a woman who let her 11 year old have her belly button pierced........... Not to describe the 11 year old, or an adult with a piercing - but the parent involved.

nappyaddict · 21/11/2007 08:42

i personally think there should be a law stopping anyone under the age of 14 being pierced. if it was the law then no one would have it done and it would stop all the peer pressure to get it done. I know I rarely wear my piercings nowadays and maybe if my mum hadn't given into me at the age of 4 when I wanted just cos my sister was getting hers done I might not have bothered at all.

sugar34plum · 21/11/2007 09:26

when you have a 13 yr old child with a pot belly on display and very little clothing on too then yes it looks trampish

mummyofgirls · 21/11/2007 09:42

Anyway, do we all agree that whatever we think these piercings look like, they should be illegal in the under 10's? If so please sign the online governement petition. There are 55 signatories at present on the under 10's and 168 on the under 2's. Both need 200 before they can be taken forward. If you sign the under 10's please also sign the under 2's. Thanks !

choccieholic · 21/11/2007 09:50

I have signed for 2 year olds but not for 10, my elder dd was 5 when she decided to have hers done, her 3 year old sister watched and secided she wanted to have hers done, even though she saw it hurt so I said yes. My younger dd has never had any problems where as my elder dd is always getting goopy ears, and she is the sensible ones. Under twos can not decide for them selves.

hayCHingleBells · 21/11/2007 09:57

Signed both.

I think it looks tacky, and ime all girls under 10 i know have had problems, infections, pe problems etc.

nappyaddict · 21/11/2007 10:15

tacky on just under 2s or tacky on under 10s too?

hayCHingleBells · 21/11/2007 10:33

I think 10 would be the minimum appropriate age for me. So under 10 encompasses 3yr olds even my 7yr old.
Nope i dont agree its appropriate for under 10s.

onebatmother · 21/11/2007 11:00

hayCH I know its a pain but just wondering whether you signed both petitions?

Reason being, if the 10 year old one doesn't get taken up but the under-2s does, then your name won't be on it, and we've split the vote, iyswim.
