To worry that they gave me AZ vaccine instead of Pfizer?

I got my vaccine yesterday, I'm under 30 so the lady injecting me said she was giving me Pfizer. I was really, really scared of getting the AZ one even though I'm sure I would have been fine anyways but I am a hypochondriac so just worry. Anyways, I have had no side effects since injection however somehow have now got it in to my head that the lady might have mixed up the vaccines and given me AZ by accident instead of Pfizer, I now feel like I'm imagining symptoms.

Is it possible she mixed up the vaccines, I'm really panicking now. Does it happen or am I being crazy? I never got a form etc to say what she gave me.

Did you not get given a card with the date, time and batch number on?

noblegiraffe · 06/06/2021 20:22

Did you not get a vaccination card?

SuperstoreFan · 06/06/2021 20:23

You're being (as you put it) crazy, you have nothing to worry about.

You can get side effects regardless of what vaccine you had.

Dailywalk · 06/06/2021 20:23

I don’t think they could possibly mix up the two. They have to be stored at different temperatures and probably transported/stored differently.

Mydogisagentleman · 06/06/2021 20:23

Our local vaccination places have different vaccines on different days.
All Pfizer or all AZ

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep · 06/06/2021 20:24

No that would not be possible.

Boo2012 · 06/06/2021 20:27

I get the worry. I have anxiety and often queues in things in my head like this but in this case I really don't think you should be worrying about this. It's very very unlikely that has ever happened. They have such strict procedures and the vaccines are stored differently prior to being given.

At my local vaccination centre they were just doing AZ but now they do both they have two different areas in the tent (it's a mass vaccination centre set up in a very large tent) and it's one direction for Az (second doses) and the other direction for Pfizer. All very well set up.

So please do not worry.

Lindy2 · 06/06/2021 20:28

Why on earth do you think the vaccine was not the right one? I can't see why you would jump to that conclusion. What has made you think that?

Your vaccine card will confirm the type and batch number of the vaccine you had.

MumInBrussels · 06/06/2021 20:28

Pretty sure it's not possible to mix them up, no. Both have the possibility of side effects, it doesn't mean you were given the wrong thing. The chances of them not knowing what they're injecting you with are vanishingly small. I hope you can make your brain see sense and relax a bit - mine often does this too, so I do know the problem. But you haven't been given the wrong vaccine by mistake, I'm sure.

Spied · 06/06/2021 20:29

With respect, yes, crazy.

rattlemehearties · 06/06/2021 20:29

Why start a thread like this? It's like a conspiracy theory. In the UK: Obviously you got given a clear queue for Pfizer and obviously you got a small card with your name and the batch number afterwards. Don't stir the pot by pretending there is confusion where there isn't

oneglassandpuzzled · 06/06/2021 20:30

Do you have the nhs app? It will tell you there what you had. Not the NHS Covid app, the other one.

LittleBearPad · 06/06/2021 20:30

They don’t just rummage in a box and grab a needle!

It will say on the card they gave you what you were injected with.

pasturesgreen · 06/06/2021 20:32

It's your imagination playing tricks on you, try not to dwell on it.

fastandthecurious · 06/06/2021 20:33

Our local vaccination centre has certain vaccines on certain days. It even says on a big board in there 'today's vaccine is...' I imagine most other places are the same to be honest. Sounds pretty impossible to me.

GnomeDePlume · 06/06/2021 20:33

Are you sure you didnt get a little wallet sized card with the name of the vaccine and the batch number?

loubieloo4 · 06/06/2021 20:33

They only send and store one vaccine each day, at each site.
As a vaccinator I can fully understand your worries but it would be impossible to happen at the sites I have worked at.

onedaybabywelbeold · 06/06/2021 20:33

I went to a walk in centre but no they never gave me a card or anything?

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 06/06/2021 20:34

Well looking at the data from Europe you would be slightly better off. However ever way you will be better off than not being vaccinated

Though I very much doubt any mistake was made but Hey Sera Sera

onedaybabywelbeold · 06/06/2021 20:34

They gave me a leaflet on what to expect after the vaccine etc.

Serpenta · 06/06/2021 20:34

You don't get a card in Scotland. Maybe OP is there.

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 06/06/2021 20:34

RedthroatedCaracara · 06/06/2021 20:34

@MNHQ please move this to Coronavirus topic.

TheGoogleMum · 06/06/2021 20:35

YABU. The reason they advised not using it for under 30s is because there is a slight risk of blood clots.
Things that have a greater risk of blood clots: birth control pills, smoking, actually having covid

shouldistop · 06/06/2021 20:35

@rattlemehearties I'm in Scotland, there were no different queues or cards given when I got my first dose. Maybe you just mean England?

Op it's highly unlikely you had the wrong vaccine and even if you did it would be even more unlikely that something bad would happen because of it.
