To worry that they gave me AZ vaccine instead of Pfizer?

I got my vaccine yesterday, I'm under 30 so the lady injecting me said she was giving me Pfizer. I was really, really scared of getting the AZ one even though I'm sure I would have been fine anyways but I am a hypochondriac so just worry. Anyways, I have had no side effects since injection however somehow have now got it in to my head that the lady might have mixed up the vaccines and given me AZ by accident instead of Pfizer, I now feel like I'm imagining symptoms.

Is it possible she mixed up the vaccines, I'm really panicking now. Does it happen or am I being crazy? I never got a form etc to say what she gave me.

I am in Scotland, I went to Troon in Ayrshire to get vaccine.

@loubieloo4

They only send and store one vaccine each day, at each site. As a vaccinator I can fully understand your worries but it would be impossible to happen at the sites I have worked at.
I don't think that's true nationwide, there has been a lot of clinics set up recently near me (high covid rate) and they often say they have both vaccines available.

You got the vaccine the nurse said you were getting.

Hope you got some nice fish and chips in Troon.

Apparently you can just buy a little card from Ebay and fill in the details yourself. So if you didn't get one. Then you can always do that. Flip a coin to pick a vaccine name 🤷‍♀️

IGetOver · 06/06/2021 20:39

I’m in Scotland and had AZ, didn’t get a card but was given a leaflet afterwards , like the ones you get in a pack of paracetamol, but for AZ

onedaybabywelbeold · 06/06/2021 20:40

Sorry if I've upset anyone. I honestly have no idea why it came into my head. I have started getting a sore arm and slightly sore neck and just thought oh my god what if they've given me the wrong one. I know rationally it didn't happen but I feel so anxious Blush early night for me and hopefully feel okay tomorrow. My arm is really starting to ache now, is that normal?

That can't have happened OP so please don't worry. If she said, as she gave it to you, that is was Pfizer then it was Pfizer.

You don't get a card in Scotland but if you log on to your vaccination record you can see the details

I had Pfizer and my arm hurt afterwards, I also felt nauseous and had a headache.

steelseries · 06/06/2021 20:41

I got a card with Pfizer on it but a leaflet with AstraZenica on it, which was a bit confusing

ursuslemonade · 06/06/2021 20:42

You need to register on the nhs app, that will tell you what you've had.

crystal1983 · 06/06/2021 20:42

I got a sore arm from Pfizer and know a lot of people who have done. The nurse knows what she is doing.

rattlemehearties · 06/06/2021 20:42

The leaflet will be applicable to the vaccination you had

PurpleDaisies · 06/06/2021 20:44

I had Pfizer. My arm hurt a lot for two days, then it was fine.

I wish people wouldn’t extrapolate that what happened at their vaccination centre must be true of all of them. Mine had trouble queues-one for AZ and one for Pfizer. This was managed extremely effectively with checking more than once which vaccine was the right one for the right patient.

gurglebelly · 06/06/2021 20:45

Have a look on the NHS app (track and trace, the actual nhs app) that shows exactly what you had and which batch it came from...

To worry that they gave me AZ vaccine instead of Pfizer?
gurglebelly · 06/06/2021 20:45

*not track and trace!

PurpleDaisies · 06/06/2021 20:45

Two queues-not trouble queues! I guess one queue was for troublesome under 40s!

Yes, everyone I know that had Pfizer had a sore arm

They all have side effects Hmm

RaspberryCoulis · 06/06/2021 20:48

Two things.

Not everyone in the UK gets a "vaccine card". These are not given out in Scotland.

The NHS App is England/Wales only.

That's not true, where I got vaccinated they had both Pfizer and AZ, they were checking ages and allocating Pfizer to under 40s and AZ to over 40s.

I doubt they would get them mixed up though.

RagzReturnsRebooted · 06/06/2021 20:49

I vaccinate people. Some days we do have both vaccines on site, but never both being given in the same session.
The dose size and needles are totally different so they would definitely know which one they are giving.

ViolaDay · 06/06/2021 20:49

I also had Pfizer and had the same worry - even though I got a BioNTech side effects leaflet! It is anxiety causing you to overthink.
Did you get an appointment letter? You can use the registration details on there to log into the NHS vaccine appointment system (or something) and it shows you what you had.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 06/06/2021 20:51

Your appointment letter has your log in name for the on line system - you can confirm which vaccine you had there Flowers

You will have had what you were told you were getting - they really can't mix them up.

MarcelineMissouri · 06/06/2021 20:52

I’m in England and didn’t get given a card - the person I saw said I’d be given it after my 2nd. But the NHS app confirms it was OX/AZ.

Op it really is vanishingly unlikely that has happened.
