To worry that they gave me AZ vaccine instead of Pfizer?

I got my vaccine yesterday, I'm under 30 so the lady injecting me said she was giving me Pfizer. I was really, really scared of getting the AZ one even though I'm sure I would have been fine anyways but I am a hypochondriac so just worry. Anyways, I have had no side effects since injection however somehow have now got it in to my head that the lady might have mixed up the vaccines and given me AZ by accident instead of Pfizer, I now feel like I'm imagining symptoms.

Is it possible she mixed up the vaccines, I'm really panicking now. Does it happen or am I being crazy? I never got a form etc to say what she gave me.

You are being crazy.

ThinWomansBrain · 06/06/2021 20:54

@onedaybabywelbeold

Sorry if I've upset anyone. I honestly have no idea why it came into my head. I have started getting a sore arm and slightly sore neck and just thought oh my god what if they've given me the wrong one. I know rationally it didn't happen but I feel so anxious Blush early night for me and hopefully feel okay tomorrow. My arm is really starting to ache now, is that normal?
Does the leaflet you were given on what to expect after the vaccine not list potential side effects? Have you read it?
bruffin · 06/06/2021 20:59

The NHS App is England/Wales only
My dd is in Wales, not sure if it is working yet

onedaybabywelbeold · 06/06/2021 21:01

Unfortunately can't log on as didn't get an appointment, it was a walk in centre they were doing. So they just asked name, dob, address etc and then when I sat down to get it she said 'okay today you're getting the Pfizer because you're a young thing' then gave me a generic leaflet. In one of the pages in the leaflet it says if you had AZ vaccine and develop these symptoms within 4 days to 4 weeks please contact...but nothing specifically about Pfizer.

She told you you were getting Pfizer. There’s really no plausible reason to think that you didn’t.

ferretface · 06/06/2021 21:03

You can check on the NHS app OP. Please do get help for your health anxiety as it's really not necessary to live with worries like this and you will be so much happier if you can learn to manage them. Wishing you well.

Nohomemadecandles · 06/06/2021 21:03

They don't arrive the sane way. No way she can gave mixed it up. Drawn differently. Can't be mixed up. Stop worrying

Nohomemadecandles · 06/06/2021 21:04

Same. Have

Sorry

Pyewackect · 06/06/2021 21:07

No, it's not possible.

Happymum12345 · 06/06/2021 21:07

You should be able to find out what vaccine you had via your doctors as it should be on your records.

MajesticWhine · 06/06/2021 21:08

Why isn't this in the coronavirus section?

mindutopia · 06/06/2021 21:08

I think it’s highly unlikely. That said, Dh and I are 40 and 34, respectively. I’ve had both doses of AZ and Dh has had one and about to get the 2nd in the next couple of weeks. We had our first jabs before the concerns were raised about blood clots, but neither of us are concerned. Much more worried about long COVID and the financial stresses of several weeks of missed work.

sanityisamyth · 06/06/2021 21:11

@oneglassandpuzzled

Do you have the nhs app? It will tell you there what you had. Not the NHS Covid app, the other one.

Only in England :(

cadburyegg · 06/06/2021 21:11

YABU. As an aside, I’ve had 2 doses of the AZ jabs. I’m 33, considered CV. No blood clot here.

Doesn't work in Wales.

Suffolkpunch345 · 06/06/2021 21:13

@onedaybabywelbeold

You can log in. Go to Nhs inform all you need is name, D.O.B etc and the date which you had your first vaccine.

Doubt they mixed them up.

Suffolkpunch345 · 06/06/2021 21:13

@onedaybabywelbeold information above is for Scotland!

Iloveyou3x · 06/06/2021 21:14

The Az has a higher injectable volume than Pfizer and you have to sign for each dose given (as a vaccinator)

Not impossible but very very unlikely

Curious0yster · 06/06/2021 21:14

Hello, I’m a mental health nurse and vaccinator. I haven’t read all of the posts, but wanted to reassure you that mixing up the vaccines just wouldn’t happen. However, in the extremely unlikely event you had received AZ instead of Pfizer, there really wouldn’t be anything to be worrying about. There is a slightly higher risk of blood clots in the younger age group with the AZ vaccine, but it is still a relatively rare event. The biggest concern currently is the impact your anxiety is having on you. Have you seen a professional about this?

onedaybabywelbeold · 06/06/2021 21:15

@Suffolkpunch345 it said it was unable to find any users matching those details Sad

I think if you call the nhs Scotland helpline they should be able to give you your username.

@Curious0yster thank you, the posts on this thread have reassured me to be honest. I have severe health anxiety, I am on anti depressants and take propanalol as and when required. Sometimes I'm fine and sometimes it flairs you like tonight. I think I have been really worried about getting the vaccine in the first place so my mind is just on overdrive tonight. I can usually manage it and yes, it does impact me some days but not my day to day life most of the time.

My arm ached for a few days after my vaccine. It is perfectly normal

I’m glad you are feeling more reassured! Health anxiety is a horrible thing to have without a pandemic and new vaccine to contend with. I think that a vast majority of people have felt anxious about the vaccine even without pre-existing health anxiety. Well done for being brave and getting it done!
