To worry that they gave me AZ vaccine instead of Pfizer?

onedaybabywelbeold · 06/06/2021 20:21

I got my vaccine yesterday, I'm under 30 so the lady injecting me said she was giving me Pfizer. I was really, really scared of getting the AZ one even though I'm sure I would have been fine anyways but I am a hypochondriac so just worry. Anyways, I have had no side effects since injection however somehow have now got it in to my head that the lady might have mixed up the vaccines and given me AZ by accident instead of Pfizer, I now feel like I'm imagining symptoms.

Is it possible she mixed up the vaccines, I'm really panicking now. Does it happen or am I being crazy? I never got a form etc to say what she gave me.

My user name for logging in was on my vaccination appointment letter. Phone the helpline shown above and they should be able to help

@Curious0yster thank you so much for your kind words Smile

Totally outing myself. I'm a Nurse there OP. You will have been given exactly what you were told you were given.

Lpid2014 · 06/06/2021 21:29

Did it feel very cold when they injected you? Pfizer is stored at very low temp and I certainly felt the cold liquid going in which I'm sure you would have done too. Sore arm is normal with ANY vaccination

tabulahrasa · 06/06/2021 21:30

I had Pfizer... my arm was really really sore, it surprised me, not that it was sore, but how sore it was and how long it lasted, it was a good 3 days.

I’m clearly no as hard as I thought, lol.

skodadoda · 06/06/2021 21:33

@Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep

No that would not be possible.
This. There are very strict protocols regarding the handling of vaccines.
rainbowunicorn · 06/06/2021 21:34

@onedaybabywelbeold you can get the username by going to the recover username link on NHS inform. This will work even if you did not get a letter. It will give you the username when you put in your name and DOB. Then you can register and see your vaccine record.

@onedaybabywelbeold

Sorry if I've upset anyone. I honestly have no idea why it came into my head. I have started getting a sore arm and slightly sore neck and just thought oh my god what if they've given me the wrong one. I know rationally it didn't happen but I feel so anxious Blush early night for me and hopefully feel okay tomorrow. My arm is really starting to ache now, is that normal?
Flowers sometimes our minds run away with things.

I sometimes get a worry stuck for a bit. I have to shake it out of my brain!

I felt nothing when it went in on either jab and I had Pfizer too

OP, different people seem to have different experiences, so if you didn't feel a cold feeling please do not take this to mean you weren't given Pfizer!

Treaclepie19 · 06/06/2021 21:35

Op I suffer with this kind of worry also. I have health anxiety and ocd. I'd suggest therapy because it's really useful to understand why it happens and how to stop it escalating.
Reassurance seeking and posting for advice are two definite avoids because undoubtedly someone will worry you further or you won't trust the advice anyway.

I've not had my jab yet but I'm already preparing my coping techniques for this kind of thing.

GrumpyTerrier · 06/06/2021 21:36

You've got health anxiety, right? I totally understand. These things get in your head. 100% you got Pfizer, they didn't mix it up. Side effects are normal with both. You will be totally fine, just relax and let those intrusive thoughts go. Hugs to you.

Hyacinth88 · 06/06/2021 21:36

Vaccinator here. The person doing it would be hard pushed to mix them up. The preparation is v v different for each.
I'd have thought that person would be doing one type only.. I've worked in a smallish centre 500 a day ish and we only had one type at a time

PurpleSunrise · 06/06/2021 21:37

I’ve had same side effects after Pfizer OP Smile so did most people I know actually who got Pfizer

dementedpixie · 06/06/2021 21:37

vacs.nhs.scot/csp?id=recover_username

This is the link to recover your user name. I dont know if there will be a delay in your vaccine details being added to your status though once you do register

NichyNoo · 06/06/2021 21:37

Do you literally have nothing better in your life to worry about????

SusannahSophia · 06/06/2021 21:38

OP, I had Pfizer but as an older thing. Wink My only symptoms were a really sore arm for both doses. Not immediately but after a few hours and for a day or so.

It’s only stored at those low temperatures. It’s thawed for administering.
Meggie2008 · 06/06/2021 21:40

I went to Troon to get mine today too but there was a 3 hour wait time so I left 🙈
I'm sure you were given exactly what you were told and the risk of them being mixed up is virtually impossible.

Agree. I work in a vaccine centre (1500 vaccines a day) where we are currently giving AZ and Moderna. We take huge precautions to ensure that people get the right vaccine, and all under 40s get channeled straight to the Moderna clinic. The different vaccines are done in different parts of the building and the medics don’t move between the two parts of the building. You will have been given what you were told you were having.
BigDaddio · 06/06/2021 21:44

I've worked in a vaccination centre and it's very very unlikely they could mix up the vaccines.
Hope that puts your mind at ease a bit.

Bouncebacker · 06/06/2021 21:44

OP, I would say there is minimal chance that they gave you the wrong vaccine, but I do understand the worry. I’m really scared.

I’m not saying this to be alarmist but my very very lovely friend died after blood clots after AZ - she was 44 - her funeral was on Thursday. Regardless of which vaccine, if you feel that the symptoms are unexpected, please please get checked out - call 111 - she had a very very sore neck (physio and painkillers didn’t touch it), a headache and then a rash appeared - if in doubt, call for help. (My fabulous friend even when in hospital was urging everyone to get vaccinated so this isn’t an anti vax post) but she didn’t twig that’s what the symptoms related to. I want everyone to know so that no one else has to feel like I feel now

Bouncebacker · 06/06/2021 21:45

Rash was like a strange bruise

Blueberrycreampie · 06/06/2021 21:45

Daily Mail has photos now of those who waited at Troon. Well done to all of you! Three hours is a long time.

Regularsizedrudy · 06/06/2021 21:48

Hi op, I mean this is the nicest way and as someone who has battled health anxiety but seeking reassurance by posting threads like this is only going to make things worse for you in the long run. It’s a cycle, there is a trigger (the jab in this case) you get an idea in your head, start to panic and then seek OUTSIDE reassurance from others. No one on here can tell you what vaccine you had of if your going to drop down dead tomorrow, but you get that instant hit of reassurance and relief... until the next trigger. And each time the spiral of panic and worry gets worse and worse. I know you said you take meds, but you need to seek targeted therapy for your health anxiety. It will give you the tools to see what is reasonable/likely and when it’s your anxiety talking.

Cumnock tomorrow 😁.
