To worry that they gave me AZ vaccine instead of Pfizer?

I got my vaccine yesterday, I'm under 30 so the lady injecting me said she was giving me Pfizer. I was really, really scared of getting the AZ one even though I'm sure I would have been fine anyways but I am a hypochondriac so just worry. Anyways, I have had no side effects since injection however somehow have now got it in to my head that the lady might have mixed up the vaccines and given me AZ by accident instead of Pfizer, I now feel like I'm imagining symptoms.

Is it possible she mixed up the vaccines, I'm really panicking now. Does it happen or am I being crazy? I never got a form etc to say what she gave me.

Just to back up what CuriousOyster said, the protocols are v v v strict and it is vanishingly small possibility that you were given a different one to the one they told you. BUT in the hugely unlikely event many safeguards failed statistically it's very unlikely you'll have an issue if they did.

Whilst the vaccines are all ultimately stored at the same temperature once they reach the vaccination centre (between 2 and 8 degrees C) the Pfizer is also a lower amount as well (0.3ml to the other twos 0.5ml) which where I work at least also means it comes in a completely different syringe making it even harder to make a mistake.

I get where you coming from, OP.
I got Moderna and when I came home I saw that they gave me the side effect leaflet for AZ instead of Moderna including all the blood clot issue consent form and everything and I was really worried. Thankfully NHS App shows Moderna so I really hope it is right.

I spent a lot of time working setting up vaccine centres, they don’t carry multiple drugs. It’s one at a time. There is no way they could have given you AZ by mistake. Please don’t worry.

This is wrong.

Just because your centres don’t offer different vaccines doesn’t mean every other vaccination centre is the same. Mine was offering both AZ and Pfizerx

@Meggie2008 ahh I arrived about 7.40 am and was taken in about 8.45 am so not too long a wait! Hopefully you will get yours soon.

Ours has 2 types at once - the other day we were giving Pfizer but had a couple of people with appointments for 2nd AZ doses. Everyone was extremely careful to make sure people got the right one. They will have entered the vaccine & batch number onto the computer. And yes, they are different volumes although both still small. Both room temperature when given, so any feeling of coldness probably imagined.
To the poster who said they had Pfizer but got a Biontech leaflet, it is Pfizer/Biontech, in the same way the other one is AZ/Oxford.

@BryanAdamsLeftAnkle I think I'm a jinx. I tried to go to Dreghorn the other day when I finished work but they were turning people away due to the queue, and then such a long wait predicted today in Troon 😂
I don't think I'll make Cumnock after work before it closes

Lots more coming up. Dreghorn was mental. Troon quietened down after 2pm. It blows my mind to see the uptake and the photos were amazing to see

Meggie2008 · 07/06/2021 19:50

Got mine in Cumnock tonight. Waited about an hour and 15 mins. One of the nurses said they've done much more today than they did yesterday in Troon!

Toddlerteaplease · 07/06/2021 19:59

No she won't have mixed them up. They are drawn up by two pharmacists. And stored completely differently.

MissConductUS · 07/06/2021 20:07

I had my second Pfizer dose at the end of March and my arm still hurts a bit when I lift weights with it.

OP, as others have said, it's oranges and cabbage when it comes to handling the two vaccines. A casual mix-up isn't possible.

@TruelyStruttingHotpants

Well looking at the data from Europe you would be slightly better off. However ever way you will be better off than not being vaccinated

Though I very much doubt any mistake was made but Hey Sera Sera

Could you share where you found that data?

I had the AZ jab and will happily have the 2nd, but i can't say i'm not a little disappointed that it seems to be less protective than Pfizer.
