Forgive me if this has been a topic of discussion in the past but following on from a recent thread in the for sale section of MN I was wondering what others thought about this.

It makes me so cross on the for sale board saying "will only sell to or prefer to sell to regular MN" I can understand they don't want any funny business as there has been the odd scammer on here ripping people off, but it puts newer members off asking anything in fear that they will get shunned! And even if you haven't just joined - when is it exactly does one become a "regular" MN?

I have come on here daily for approx 7 months now.... Although I haven't posted on all of the talk boards I have certainly posted on a few in the past and often browse topics similar to ones I may be experienceing at the present for advice. I mainly buy off the for sale board and have sold a couple of bits as well.

I feel there is to much cliqiness amongst the "regulars" which puts off some mums from ever posting.

Oh Fio, now you've just demonstrated a clique!

Peachy · 19/11/2007 13:41

To quote myself from the initial thread:

'It is not about newbies, oldies, regualrs or whatever- its about poeple who use nothing but the for Sale boards. Who can't be arsed to pop over to the main board to see if there's anything they can help with. or just be part of MN. I would buy from anyone new or old but definitely NOT someone who never strays beyond for sale. '

Not read the whole thread but I am one of the evil people who only gives my stuff to people who post on main boards - I don't care how many posts, just some. I do this because I tend to stick stuff up on MN for sale very very cheaply or ffp because I want to help people who need it - yes, the main board posters can still tootle off and ebay it/sell it on or whatever, but it is my stuff and I can give who I want to.

By putting it in the message it saves the time of a buy/sellist asking for it and me saying no - which looks bizarre.

I don't see how only selling to main board posters puts people off posting...

Flame · 19/11/2007 13:58

Missed out a bit "who need it, and are a part of the community"

VictorianSqualor · 19/11/2007 13:59

ScottishMummy · 19/11/2007 14:03

when i was at uni those shows were so addictive - kinda cringeworthy cant stop looking ohmygod car crash tv...makes me astonished people go on telly and disclose so so much.

Walnutshell · 19/11/2007 14:03

(Fio - I meant in your worship of Soup but I was only being lighthearted)

Flame - evil indeed! At the end of the day (sound like a Jezza programme) you can sell to who you like so does it really matter?
