There seems to be huge amounts of Disney logos, Disney characters and other cartoon characters and images on adult clothes. It makes me so cross. I do not want to dress like a child. Am I the only one who this annoys ?

OP posts:

@StopPokingTheRoyalTitDear

I’ve seen shit loads of men’s clothes with Star Wars, the Simpsons, minions, marvel, DC, toy story and daddy fucking pig on them. Definitely isn’t just women’s clothing.
I have an amazing Aristocats hoodie, its a coach one as well ‘fancy’
stackemhigh · 02/06/2021 19:16

Umm.... no. Just like no one has forced OP to buy and wear it. How odd.

It's more odd for you exclaim 'my life, my choice' as if you're making a huge statement. You can wear what you like.

thatllberight · 02/06/2021 19:17

There was a thread about this the other week. Full of people saying they love their Disney clothes, I said I think it's the infantilisation of women & got slated for it. I stand by that. If you want to wear it crack on.

Ooh! I have snoopy and the grinch pyjamas. I just don’t buy Disney clothes for myself although my teenage daughter does. Trying to find Aristocats clothing for her. Off to google...

@stackemhigh

Disney didn't technically create Winnie the Pooh, Rapunzel, Cinderella, frozen or most of their other films/characters either.

So? They have created others. And Disney did produce Frozen, Elsa didn't exist pre-Disney.

But it is based on the snow Queen.

It was in response to the pp who said 'but star wars wasn't vceeated by disney' as if to suggest that it was ok that men wear that because it's somehow better than wearing any other Disney character.

'Frozen' was based (very loosely) on Hans Christian Anderson's 'The Snow Queen'. The Ice Palace, the story of someone travelling there to rescue a loved one, the kingdom stuck in eternal winter, the Queen who froze the things she touched and a frozen heart that could be unfrozen by love all come from the original fairy tale.

x-post with pp.

NerrSnerr · 02/06/2021 19:20

@Ickythefirebobby what if your child wanted to wear something with a 'kid logo' or are they not allowed any individual choice??

Yes, I know, I grew up on fairy tales, but you don't have a generic snow queen on clothing, you have the trademarked image of Elsa, which Disney produced and own.

tigger1001 · 02/06/2021 19:21

It's just an odd thing to get het up about. If you don't like it, just don't buy it. There are plenty things I don't like in the shops, I just walk past them.

twilightermummy · 02/06/2021 19:22

I think that there’s a lot of nostalgia tied up in Disney which appeals to adults. When I saw Gaston at Disneyland Paris, I was fawning Grin

oneglassandpuzzled · 02/06/2021 19:23

I agree about infantile nightwear for women. I just want cotton jersey shorts-and-vest PJ sets.

I'm not 8 and I don't need cute animals on them.

You have to pay a lot to find anything that's 100% or near abouts cotton jersey and not riddled with the creatures.

Jumpalicious · 02/06/2021 19:25

No idea where you are shopping, but I don’t see any Disney clothing where I shop. That said, a really mumsy-mum I knew back in the 90s wore a lot of it.

Jumpingintosummer · 02/06/2021 19:25

I assumed it was only purchased by teenagers or students Blush

All their character designs are trademarked. You don't see a generic "Snow White' or 'Cinderella' for example, you see a very specific image on a Disney product.
CaraherEIL · 02/06/2021 19:27

Apart from Snoopy, Snoopy remains cool no matter how old you are.
Respect to the Snoops

scaredsadandstuck · 02/06/2021 19:27

I know what you mean OP. I find it weird, but nowhere near as weird as the amount of women's PJs that are otherwise lovely but then emblazoned with a naff slogan on them them like I'm six years old 🤢

Jumpingintosummer · 02/06/2021 19:27

That said I did have some on our last Disney trip. Promptly put in the charity bag afterwards though as far from my usual style.

stackemhigh · 02/06/2021 19:27

@Arbadacarba yes, that’s my point. I was responding to a poster who said they are not created by Disney.

Charlie Brown isn't Disney, though Grin.
MagicSummer · 02/06/2021 19:29

I detest anything to do with Disney - never wanted to go to Florida to see it. Hate Mickey Mouse and all the other characters. Just awful and tacky.

Ah, apologies @stackemhigh , I think I misunderstood the point you were making.
