There seems to be huge amounts of Disney logos, Disney characters and other cartoon characters and images on adult clothes. It makes me so cross. I do not want to dress like a child. Am I the only one who this annoys ?

I don't much like gathered and/or frilly sleeves and there's a lot of that about too.

Can't get worked up about Disney cartoons on pyjamas and socks, but anything else can look a bit daft on a grown-up.

IndecentCakes · 02/06/2021 21:28

I saw an Ursula t-shirt once - I like Ursula...

Professionallytorn · 02/06/2021 21:31

I fully accept that people can buy what they like, and I can buy other stuff, my complaint is purely on the sheer volume childish clothing that is around, Don't even get me started on grey, beige, greige etc that seems to have been around forever 🙄 Ah well, obviously a lot of Disney / character fans here, i put my paws up, and ears down in defeat 🤣

I have struggled to find plain socks in the past, and found that really tiresome. I have Sall feet but still don't want bunnies and flowers on everything!

I'm really not keen on any infantalisimg clothing for adults and will go well out of my way to buy plainer stuff. I'm not keen on Disney full stop so avoid it for me and the kids but I also don't want nightwear with ears/cartoon characters or stupid slogans.

There's clearly a huge market for this stuff though, a soarticularly amongst nightwear it's the majority in a lot of shops.

Namechangedlady · 02/06/2021 21:34

@Movingtothebeat

I think I’ve only seen this on women’s nightwear, and have always thought how juvenile it is but obviously plenty of women love it because it sells.
Tbh I hate Disney but the primark long pj tshirts are so comfy and cheap that anyone who looked through my pj drawer would think I'm a super fan Grin they don't have many options. I also have loads of Stranger Things stuff as it is the only black bits they have in that section. I haven't even seen the show!
Lalliella · 02/06/2021 21:38

I would really love to buy an adult-sized Elsa dress and have the nerve to go to the pub in it, it’s my dream!

Divebar2021 · 02/06/2021 21:38

Hmmmm interesting. I don’t see a single character top in any of the shops where I buy my clothes.

SuperSecretSquirrels · 02/06/2021 21:38

@Hoppinggreen

It’s terrible, I go on the Boden website to buy a nice sensible dress and it turns up with Goofy on one boob , Scrooge McDuck on the other and Mickey Mouse on my arse.

Where the Fuck are you shopping OP?

😂😂😂

nice to see you can let it go....
OhRene · 02/06/2021 21:39

I love Disney. I also love Harry Potter. I like funny quirky t shirts with a humorous saying or logo on them. I have a Stranger Things T shirt that says Justice for Barbara. I have Sheldon T shirts. I've a Tardis hoodie and a Dalek T-shirt. I have a Resident Evil Umbrella Corporation Umbrella. Fellow fans will smile and give me the nod. Or finger guns if I'm wearing something even more obscure. Or they will just come out and say something nice about my top.

And yet I can't stand skirts. I think high heels are awful. I think the genie/harem trousers were horrific. I wouldn't be caught dead in a bodycon dress.

Thank the gods we aren't forced to wear only what is in fashion, and we can go about our daily lives wearing what we enjoy.

megletthesecond · 02/06/2021 21:40

I'm not keen on it either.
DD has just moved up to tiny adult Primark clothes. I avoided the Disney stuff and bought Coca-Cola instead because that's not at all iffy, ahem.

MasterBeth · 02/06/2021 21:43

@Lockheart

What part of having a Disney character on it means it's for children?

You're not dressing like a child if you're wearing adult clothes, regardless of what's on them.

The Disney character.
HeadFullofRandom · 02/06/2021 21:44

My Dad used to say Cartoons aren't just for children.

It's not hurting anyone so I don't see the problem, it's not my style but that's ok.

My friend loves some of the clothes, makes buying presents for her easier! I don't think any less of her, she's not a child and doesn't act like a child. She just has different taste in clothes to me.

Homehaircuts · 02/06/2021 21:52

Yes she really just needs to "Let it go"

MadCattery · 02/06/2021 21:52

I live about 90 miles from Disney World, and have known grown women who purchase an annual pass to visit EVERY weekend, but don't know any adults who would go as far as dressing in Disney clothing! It would seem strange to me, but I don't believe in advertising for anyone and don't purchase designer purses or dresses or anything. To each their own, but it does sound very childish and odd.

Ifixfastjets · 02/06/2021 21:54

Hello to PP with a Hong Kong phooey tee shirt!
I used to have one... but dd nicked it as a comforter when she was a baby!
I used to have a couple of magic roundabout tees. Everybody loved them and tried to take them from me!
As a young teen, I lived in my snoopy jumper. It is the only thing I ever adhered my mum to buy for me. I remember we got it in a train station so it might have been overpriced. Sorry mum! But even if it cost £300 , back in 1990 ish, It was good value for the amount of wear it got! (I think it might have been £12?)
Most of my clothes are from a charity shop. Or from the sales.
Nice soft white summer tee for £3 (new)?
I'll take that. Even with minnie mouse on.
Grinch pjs for £3? They will be ideal for our xmas visit to the hotel (pre covid)

Why are all my bargains £3?

DeeleysMum · 02/06/2021 21:57

I've noticed that too. Some of the bits are ok, but some of it is a bit cringe, but each to their own. Rather a top with Mickey on than seeing fluffy sliders 🤣

SunshineCake · 02/06/2021 21:58

Seeing what a grown woman was wearing today I'll take my snoopy pyjamas that cover me any day.

Bizarre.

grapewine · 02/06/2021 21:59

Snoopy remains cool no matter how old you are

Facts.

Meruem · 02/06/2021 22:06

I have a beautiful (to me) bomber jacket with tigger embroidered on the back. It was definitely designed for adults as it’s a big size. I also have hello kitty converse (although I don’t wear both things at the same time!) and recently bought the tinker bell Stan Smiths. And I’m not young! I just like fun clothing. Some people may look at me and think wtf, but I also get loads of compliments from strangers on the things I wear. So it balances out.

I have some serious wardrobe envy now!
AColdDuncanGoodhew · 02/06/2021 22:23

@TheMNChicken

I don't have anything with Mickey Mouse on it (I think) but I did recently drop £70 on a Loungely Sanrio 60th Anniversary handbag... because I'm an adult and I can do whatever the fuck I like.
I had never heard of this, just googled and i’ve fallen down a hole, noooooooooo! I want it all! Is it the gorgeous red backpack youve bought? I’m having a backpack moment!
AnxiousAlpaca · 02/06/2021 22:23

@IHaveBrilloHair

SimonJT My Dd recently got a limited edition Pokemon jacket! She also has a pokeball tattoo. Huge fan.
So jealous I really wanted that Levi Pokémon jacket. I’ve got a Mickey Mouse one though that they did a couple years back. Besides my jacket I don’t really wear much else with cartoons on unless I am at the gym! I have multiple dragon ball Z tops and also a Lycra shirt and leggings which make me look like Goku and I fricken love it!
AColdDuncanGoodhew · 02/06/2021 22:25

I love Disney although not as much as Harry Potter. I also loved buying stickers for my planner and spending a few hours decorating my upcoming week 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I’ve ran out and have resigned myself to highlighters for a while.

Wouldn’t life be terribly boring if we all done the same things.

dudsville · 02/06/2021 22:25

I never see this in the shops I use, but also there's just so much more clothing without this aspect than with. If you're getting really very cross about it then it might indicate a bigger more meaningful issue for you than that sine clothes exist that you don't like.
