AIBU to be laughing,. A lot. What is he to do? He's lost his supply of cheap labour having voted and campaigned for it to happen.

The issue is the wages and zero hr contracts etc, we still have unemployment and also stigma that only professional jobs count
My nephew is 22 and never worked as he gets his benefits , lives at home and will only get a job if it pays £30000

User135644 · 02/06/2021 17:03

A lot of younger women would rather be their own boss and set up an Only Fans account than work for a Tim Martin or low paid, insecure work. A lot of younger men would rather sit at home on their xbox.

Now we can't blame the EU anymore, the focus will start to shift onto lazy Brits. Either that or we just import tens of thousands of more people into an over crowded country.

Over 5 million people have applied to the Eu Settlement Scheme anyway. It's not like every EU national went back to Poland and Italy etc in the last few years.

@Soubriquet

Idiot

I once read an article about a couple who lived in Spain outrages because even though they voted brexit, they never for a second thought they would have to move back to the U.K.
Smile

My Brexit voting coworker has a holiday home in EU. She is very pissed off that it's now complicated to allow her to live there after she retires in a few years. I have no pity.
StaffRepFeistyClub · 02/06/2021 17:11

Ah shame - what did they think was going happen? Quite frankly some EU workers who used to be hear now think they will be better off staying inside EU.

Why come to the UK with rubbish living conditions and to get a shit load of abuse from lazy Brits who cant be arsed to do the job themselves?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/06/2021 17:13

Lots of them still did after applying. I saw lots of people on SM getting SS and then moving. Plus it includes spouses who are 3rd country nationals but here as a family member.

QuizzlyBear · 02/06/2021 17:13

Vile, self-interested tosser shoots himself in the face. A beautiful moment in what is otherwise an utter shitshow (Brexit).

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/06/2021 17:13

Don't forget it's not just eu wprkers he wanted to get rod of. His pubs apparently now don't serve EU made beers🤦

EerieSilence · 02/06/2021 18:16

@longwayoff - all good. hard to differentiate at the moment.

rosie39forever · 02/06/2021 18:39

He’ll have plenty of Indian and Hong Kong nationals to employ soon, wonder how his clientele will feel about that🤣🤣 The town that I’m from has an active and very visible campaign encouraging people to choose independent bars rather than spoons because of the appalling way he treats his staff and it seems to be working.

Whammyyammy · 02/06/2021 23:11

Ha ha ha. That will teach him. Not been on one of his grotty pubs for a long time.

Tisgrand · 02/06/2021 23:38

Well well well. Wonder if his Irish pubs will sell EU made beers? Cos they needn't bother reopening next week if they don't Grin

MercyBooth · 02/06/2021 23:55

There must be plenty of positions open so the unemployed people should be simply told that they will either take them, relocate, if necessary or have their benefits cut

Its not that easy to relocate if you live in social housing. You cant just relocate just like that. But Thank You for yet again showing that the community rhetoric only counts when it comes to Covid. If society treated me like this you can be damn sure i wouldnt be feeling that i owe society taking the vaccine to protect others. Others that a. couldnt give a fuck about community when its non Covid and b. cant even be bothered to look into what their suggestions would entail because they dont know what they are talking about.

MercyBooth · 03/06/2021 00:01

Oops didnt realise your post was tongue in cheek. Flowers

BlatantlyNameChanged · 03/06/2021 00:25

Someone needs to remind Mr Martin that Brexit means Brexit, you won, get over it.

The real problems will start when care homes are affected by staff shortages when lifes are at risk nevermind bars and hotels.
With the right incentives it'll be okay but like Ireland too with tax credit top ups many parents find it better financially working pt in lower paying jobs.

ExitChasedByABee · 03/06/2021 01:18
@longwayoff - I still believe though, unfortunately, that the destruction of the social welfare system is firmly on Torys' plan, especially as the Labour managed to argue themselves into irrelevance.
NHS will be gone within the next two to five years, I assume and there will an enormous pressure on the unemployed to take any job.
Nothing can shake BJ's position, I mean if voters were ready to let him get away with having his apartment renovations financed by a private person who expected goodies in return, it means that the Brits have no issues with corruption as long as they hear from the politicians what they want to.
I really hope not Sad I just feel so confused by why so many people would vote against their self-interest and still getting shafted. The issue here is that there doesn’t seem to be a better alternative. The opposition party is supposed to hold the ruling party accountable but instead they’re just fighting for scraps amongst each other. Curious what the so-called rebels feel about Keir Starmer.

Graphista · 03/06/2021 01:55

Just seen this reported elsewhere - brilliant! What an absolute numpty!

Well now he'll have to pay an actual living wage and treat his staff better than servants! Shame Grin

Why pay them at all? They should be grateful for.the experience.

He is claiming he was misrepresented - you know by that right wing rag The Telegraph.
