To be falling out of love for the hot tub?

We bought it last summer when lockdown hit. At first it was great.

It’s now becoming a pain, keeping it clean and lid on / off, washing swimwear. I also find DH wants to go in it all the time and I don’t! AIBU to dislike it now!?

is it not too hot in the summer, could you put cold water in? Confused Blush

@fantastaballs

I absolutely love my Chavy sex pond! LOVE it! But then we have no bath, only a shower and I'm riddled with arthri to is so it really helps. I have mine set up all year round and wouldn't be without it. As for maintenance.....I empty and refill it every 3-4 weeks and then swap the filter and throw a table spoon of chlorine in it after every use. That's it. Takes about 40 seconds a Day and half an hour to empty and refill. I've even got a super duper chavvy gazebo set up too. I bet the neighbours HATE me.
Bloody love it ,we bought one for my son for his birthday ,he has severe autism and learning disabilities,and adores water ,I love your super duper chavvy gazebo I need a small one ,as our tub is only 2-4 person 🤣
worriedatthemoment · 01/06/2021 21:24

@Lippy333 i have nothing to excuse I wasn't the one calling people chavvy or commenting on htb / terraced houses that was all you.

BrilliantBetty · 01/06/2021 21:25

Never fancied it myself. Don't go in them when they come with holiday accommodation. I just don't like the thought of it.

And I assume everyone who has them at home are middle aged swingers!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 01/06/2021 21:26

We love ours. Properly maintain it with chemicals and filters. Cost around £700 last yr.A layzyspa one. We've not changed the water since June 2020 and it's Crystal. Helps my back no end!

ElspethFlashman · 01/06/2021 21:27

I think the gazebo is genius.

Because my main objection to them is the sun beating down and giving me a headache and I end up fretting about sunscreen.

I'd definitely be down with a hot tub under a gazebo. All the summeriness but none of the glare!

Sparrowsong · 01/06/2021 21:28

Both jot tubs and fake grass are chavvy and most importantly very environmentally damaging. Can’t wait until both fads die their inevitable death!

Popcornbetty · 01/06/2021 21:30

’ I can't see the appeal in them at all. Even less so since I read a recent story about a young woman got sepsis after spending time in a hot tub and is lucky to be alive.’

Yes I read this too, it was horrific. I think some people don’t clean them properly and it would put me off unless it is serviced regularly and cleaned meticulously. Nevertheless the story even put dh off who loves them!

dementedma · 01/06/2021 21:31

Fake grass is truly awful. Not content with trashing the environment with plastic as it is, lets rip up the growing stuff and replace it with yet more! Fuck the insects and plants - looks neater so all good.

I just cannot understand the appeal and can’t fathom why it might be remotely sexy- urgh it makes me a bit queasy to think of all the ‘juices’ or should that be ‘jizzes’ floating about.

Things, I just love a bath, have one most nights, but I don’t want to have one outside in front of the neighbours, and I don’t want to have one with my friends or family. I definitely don’t want to be having sex in one and I don’t want to have to add chemicals, clean filters daily and pay a fortune to heat one.

Just have a bath!

Honeyroar · 01/06/2021 21:32

I’d have one if it was positioned somewhere peaceful, private place with a lovely view.

spacedandtimed · 01/06/2021 21:34

@Lippy333

Yawn
  • People going on about sex ponds
  • People buying £200 inflatable tubs from B&M and expecting to live like kings in the back yard of their terrace or HTB house with wonky bricks and chavvy plastic grass

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 01/06/2021 21:34

@reallyreallyborednow

I don’t get the love either. I’m on a holiday let fb group and all I see is “looking for x, must have a hot tub”.

Why? Is a holiday really dependent on a hot tub? What’s so special about them?

We always look for a hot tub. We are at a holiday let with one right now. We went for a 15 mile walk today with a lot of hills. Got “home” shower and hot tub to ease the muscles …. Lovely.
fantastaballs · 01/06/2021 21:36

@FelicityBeedle

The filter housing is basically the plastic housing that the blue filter sits in. Slightly bigger than the filter itself and drum shaped. It screws to the wall of the hot hub and water is sucked through it into the egg, heated in the egg, and then passed back to the hot tub. You can buy them from lazy spa. So you change the filter after every use as it collects hair etc. Changing the filter after every use and adding the chemicals at the same time really reduces the biological load and keeps your water nice and clean. And most importantly SAFE. Contrary to what all the hot tub germ screamers on this thread have claimed, with the dip tests and a chemical starter kit it's really easy to make sure your water is crystal clear and healthy. It's very very basic science that is for some reason beyond the grasp of most of Pearl clutchers on here. Chlorine breaks down any biological matter (urine/skin etc) in the water and makes it safe. mind blowing stuff I know 😂

worriedatthemoment · 01/06/2021 21:37

@Lippy333 don't have twitter, why respond if you think your right? Then why care
I wasn't the only one to call you out though
If your happy to look down on others then so be it , personally I think calling people chavvy and slating people have a htb property is a bit low , its a forum i can have an opinion as well , we have different ones that will happen

saltwinds · 01/06/2021 21:37

I don’t want it to be sexy!

Macncheeseballs

I'm sure the neighbours will be delighted to see the back end of it

What are you talking about?

Macncheeseballs is probably referring to the constant noise coming from the hot tub. They emit a loud hum all the time and when the jets are switched on, it's horrendous. Our neighbour's have one and when they switch the jets on we have to shout to be heard over the top of it.

Luckily they quickly seemed to realise that running the jets at nighttime was incredibly selfish and (fingers crossed) haven't done that for a while.

But we still shudder when we hear "boys! Shall we go in the hot tub?!" wafting over the fence.

worriedatthemoment · 01/06/2021 21:39

@dementedma some have fake grass as real can't grow
I have a small strip in my garden as grass cannot grow in it ( new build ) and the artificial at least lets the water through rather than if I paved it
Quite a lot of insects and worms under it

FelicityBeedle · 01/06/2021 21:40

@fantastaballs thank you that makes perfect sense! I have a large fishtank so feel competent in water readings and dosing, and have a decent grasp of chemistry unlike some of the human soupers on here! Our bath is tiny and we love a soak so I hope it works out and we get it!

Oh, we don’t live close enough to our neighbours for that to be an issue.

lippy I can’t put this politely, please fuck off.

worriedatthemoment · 01/06/2021 21:42

@Sparrowsong so the people who have it are all chavvy despite some clearly stating why ?
People complain about fake grass and environment and then drive a 4x4 or fly on multiple holidays, all relative and we all have a different carbon footprint
Astro turf has its place in some instances

queenofthenorthwest · 01/06/2021 21:44
