To tell you how I feel now I’ve lost 5 stone (some content that’s a bit rank so don’t open if squeamish or pregnant and nauseous etc)

This is SO indulgent. Sorry Blush

I still have another 3 to go so I’m still quite big. But as the weather has finally got warmer here’s some stuff that I’ve noticed:

I used to get a cheesey sort of thing under my belly. I had to shower twice every day without fail or this STANK. Now I still shower at least once a day but I choose to: I don’t have to because of this revolting thing.

I have so much more choice with clothes. Last summer I wore black leggings and baggy t shirts. Now I can wear bright summer colours and not feel self conscious.

My back isn’t as fat.

I don’t feel embarrassed to have my photo taken with my children. I definitely still look plump but I don’t avoid the camera and I ask DH to take photos of us.

I got a job, after thinking no one would employ me.

I don’t look scruffy any more. I’m not saying all big people do. I know some look very elegant; but I never did.

I’m losing motivation so add yours!

Well done all you multi stone losers. I need to lose 3 stone and did look at exante but was put off by the fact that most of the stuff seemed to be sweet sounding bars, shakes and stuff that was more likely to lead me into bad habits. Do they do nice non sweet things?

WhoWants2Know · 30/05/2021 23:11

There's a wholefoods type plan called something like purition, I think, which might be more vegan friendly.

Exante has a facebook group which is useful for support and also for finding out about discount codes and deals.

I will say, I wasn't keen on the first couple of products I tried. But after some trial and error, I worked out what I liked and now I just live on those.

Embracingthechaos · 30/05/2021 23:12

Congratulations! You've done an amazing job OP, and perhaps it will motivate you to know that you're an inspiration to me. Well done :)

I'm still quite early on in my journey. I've lost almost a stone so far, another 4 to go until I'm in healthy BMI range.

I'm doing Noom. I've found It great because it really helps you address the reasons why you over eat, and your relationship with food. It's helping undo a lot of bad habits and learn how to take control of my eating.

Don't sit there telling yourself you've had a bad week. You're doing an amazing job. You can't undo all of your hard work in the space of a week, it's not possible. It's a marathon, not a sprint, and you've come a really long way so far!

I love that I can now wear clingy cropped leggings without their being a muffin top style bulge on my calves. And I also find I'm no longer afraid of the camera! I now love taking photos of me and the kids.

igotdemons · 30/05/2021 23:21

Well done, OP! 👏🏻

I’ve lost 6.5 stone and have 3 to go. Benefits so far are I can actually walk a fair distance without feeling like I’m going to die! My back aches less (getting treatment for that as I think the massive weight I was carrying around before caused my 2 herniated discs! 😣) and I enjoy clothes shopping more. I was wearing size 26/28 last year and now am in 16/18. My autoimmune disease has improved. I can also moisture my own feet and paint my toenails (too much belly fat prevented me beforehand)! The only downside is the excess skin, my arm skin is loose and gets sore from rubbing against my body 😕

Longhairdonotcare · 30/05/2021 23:32

I was going to ask everyone about excess skin, it’s clearly not as bad as excess fat but I did wonder how much everyone had and if you’re doing anything to help it?

I have about 10 stone to lose and have just started healthy eating this week to lose it. But I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to minimise the loose skin.

Well done everyone for your fantastic results, you’re an inspiration.

Cleopatras · 30/05/2021 23:32

newbrother I have Celebrity Slim which has vegan meal replacement shakes. I'm lactose intolerant so was finally happy to find a vegan one! I like the taste of the vanilla and strawberry vegan shakes, there is also banana and chocolate flavours but I haven't tried them yet. I fell off the wagon and need to start Celebrity Slim again because I have 8 stone to lose.

chaosmaker · 30/05/2021 23:33

To everyone that lost a lot of weight, do you have loose skin to deal with when the weight's come off quickly?

chaosmaker · 30/05/2021 23:34

Also congrats to all that lost it. I lost 2 a while ago, put it back on and now just need to lose all of my excess weight.

YellowMonday · 30/05/2021 23:44

Well done OP! I love hearing people's experience while losing weight as I'm losing weight.

I'm down 20 kilos (I think that's about 3 stone?) since February this year. Doing IF 16/8 and watching my simple carb intake.

The biggest improvement, excuse the pun, I've noticed is a significant improvement in my sleep quality.

Other unexpected impact is to my wallet - having to buy an "in-between" wardrobe as my old clothes are way too big now, and having to lace my shoes as tightly as possible. Strangely didn't think that I would lose weight from my feet.

Long way to go but feeling motivated.

fat13 · 31/05/2021 07:03

I love how everybody ignored the troll Grin

I’ve a total of 8 stone to lose. I think this is the problem now, that I feel so much lighter and healthier it’s hard motivating myself now - I don’t have that horrible feeling I did once. I saw a photo of me over Christmas which should have been a lovely family picture but I looked like a walrus Grin

I have a little bit of loose skin (still have more weight to lose so there will be more) and my stomach is very wobbly. With my clothes off my stomach resembles a melted candle 😂😭 i'm hoping with time it will tighten up a little but I think unless I have surgery I'm just going to have to live with it.
coodawoodashooda · 31/05/2021 07:25

Op I thought that about the troll too!

JinglePies · 31/05/2021 07:41

Fascinating. And inspiring.

I’m looking at the exante website and there is a deal for a 4 week 800 plan box. But it doesn’t say what the meal replacements are? I’m not keen on anything except the shakes...

OP - which shakes do you recommend. I’m ordering TODAY! 8 stone to lose. Lost 2 stone on Fast800 and put it all back on. I think using shakes for a bit would be really helpful - part of my issue is thinking about what to bloody make for meals every day (dc eat different things because they need plenty of carbs etc).

BreakingtheIce · 31/05/2021 07:48

@MissingInActon

This is a timely thread. Thanks for the inspiration *@fat13* and well done to you. I've lost a stone since easter on low carb but have about another 4 or 5 to go. I find it easier than I expected but have some shocking bad habits built up over many years that rear their heads when I'm busy or stressed, so I'm a bit two steps forward, one back. I didn't expect to feel so noticeably 'well' so quickly though, and that's a big motivator.

Good luck to all who are trying to lose weight. It's really not easy and life can be pretty horrible to fat people tbh.

I’d love to know how you are approaching low carbing. I did it ten years ago and lost 2 stones but somehow just can’t do it this time. I know it works for me. I had loads more energy very quickly.
Buffaloskull · 31/05/2021 07:49

I lost 45lbs so not as amazing as some of these losses, but I'm finally down into a healthy BMI category for my height for the first time in about 4 years.

Strange things I've noticed..
My house and car feels bigger Grin obviously because I am smaller but it's really odd to be walking around/sitting in the car and everything feeling bigger than it used to.
I have a necklace that I've worn for years and now that hangs lower than it used to, it never occurred to me that I'd lose fat from my neck 🤣 I'm really happy about this because I had been considering getting a longer chain but dont need one anymore haha.

ThatSchoolOfficeLady · 31/05/2021 08:00

I lost 5 stone two years ago. Can walk the 3 mile round trip to work without feeling like it's a big deal. Have stopped feeling constantly hungry. Can wear trousers in work and feel good instead of self conscious. I just under ate by about 200 calories a day though and focused on upping protein and fruit and veg, so it took 18 months to get to target. Just eat that without thinking now. Although I don't keep cakes or sweets in the house, I will eat them if offered at work or eating out.

Travelledtheworld · 31/05/2021 08:06

@ilovepixie sorry to hear this. I am a great fan of Slimming World and have seen many people experience life changing weight loss. It's just a case of finding the right group where you feel comfortable with that consultant to get you started. There will be groups locally. No faddy foods or special diets just lots of fresh veg, high fibre food and learning to cook healthily. And good support.

fat13 · 31/05/2021 08:46

Jingle I’m more of a porridge / bar person. I do like the shakes a lot, especially banana and vanilla, but I don’t find them hugely filling.

It’s worth joining some groups on Facebook and swapping products. Another option that might suit you is the one to one diet although I think that’s quite costly.

Would it help t have this as an ongoing thread for support? Shall I ask the lovely MNHQ to move it Grin

I've lost 8.5 stone, accurate calorie tracking, full lifestyle change from takeaways and slobbing to cooking properly and gym 3 or 4 times a week

OP you're at the point now where it starts to get much harder. Keep going and switch to weighing yourself monthly - after being used to seeing larger losses, it's easy to fall into a trap of feeling down about half a pound here and a pound or so there if you weigh weekly. What helped me keep going this time was making it about fitness and creating a gym habit rather than numbers on the scales

so my goal changed from a certain number weightloss to just 'keep exercising 3 or 4 times a week, and keep an accurate eye on calories' and this got me through and way past my original weight goal.

measure yourself too, in cm - I checked every month at first, now every 3 months.

well done!

Elle200 · 31/05/2021 09:04

@OhHarry

Oh wow! You are all amazing. Are any if you menopausal?
Hi OhHarry, I'm menopausal, aged 53. Over the last 18 months I've lost over 100 pounds so it can be done but it's much harder to shift the pounds than when I was thirty that's for sure!

I calorie count, eat sensible food, no meal replacements, and very little exercise due to mobility problems.

I now wear a size 18 clothes and while I still have at least another 50 pounds to go I feel much better.

Good luck 🙂

I have 50lbs lost since January, and aiming for another 20lbs.

Your post stood out to me Buffaloskull because I've noticed the same - my sofa and bed feel bigger 😂 which is good because we've moved into a tiny house.

I hopped into the car yesterday and was able to lift my foot up (raised my knee up to my chin) to tie my lace without contorting myself around my belly.

I am in size 14 jeans today (was in a 20 at Christmas) - I can get more clothes on to the washing line now!

I can sit down on ground and get up again without straining myself.

I am not afraid to walk through narrow pubs/restaurants to a table - I was always afraid of knocking peoples plates off their table as I rumbled past.

AnotherNameForJune · 31/05/2021 11:13

This thread is amazing...its given me the kick start I needed.

I've been overweight for a few years now but in the lucky 'carry it well' way where I was a size 14 but people go 'You're never 13 stone? Really? OMG' because I kept a slimmish face and my 3 extra stone of weight was nicely distributed iyswim. Still looked nice in clothes, no health issues.

Lockdown has hit me harrrddd, I've put about 3 stone on and am now 16 stone and feeling and looking awful. I struggle to tie my laces without contortions, shaving my legs in the shower is like a bloody gym work out and I've developed the same lower backache after 5 minutes of walking that I've only ever had before x 3, when heavily pregnant - I'm 100% not pregnant so I'm assuming it's just due to the weight.

Anyway, I've just bought a 4 week Exante box after this thread prompted me to research it so thank you all!

I have a massive 6 stone to lose, which would put me comfortably into my healthy weight range with half a stone of wiggle room for over Christmas 😂

fat13 · 31/05/2021 11:32

On the 1st February I was 16 stone - I’d already lost a stone and a half by then but that was when I started exante! You can do this!

Not RTFT yet and hope this hasn't been asked before. Congratulations to all who have lost weight. Star I have lost just over 2 and need to lose about 20Lbs more. I have an overhanging belly. I wondered if any of you who have lost weight have a problem with excess skin? I know even if I diet right down, I know I'll still have an 'apron' of skin on the bottom of my belly. Do you have excess skin, and how do you deal with it?

Lsquiggles · 31/05/2021 11:43

Well done OP that's an amazing achievement! Wine I've just lost a stone myself and feeling quite proud of myself. Now ive dropped a dress size I can finally see my old figure coming back rather than just looking round! Keep it up Smile
