So walking out of shop today with my 3 year old DD a man was walking close behind us
It was a narrow walkway so we both sped up as he was indicating he wanted to get by
As he rushed past us my DD fell and everything in her hands fell onto the ground
She hurt her hand and knee
He stood watching
I had to drop everything in my hand to help her up
Everything was on the ground
He got in his car
Sat watching us
I rushed her to my car to get her comfy
Ran back to the pavement to gather up everything (shopping - fruit , veg, etc)
He sits in car still staring
So I stop and look over at him And threw my hands in the air
He prob thinks I'm bonkers
He's an idiot
Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Ugh 🤦🏼‍♀️

Oh, it's one of those I AM NOT BEING UNREASONABLE threads... Honestly, op. A row of kisses for the only poster who agreed with you? 🤣🤣🤣 Why bother asking?!
Clearly you missed my post right at the top agreeing with the OP and several others. No kisses needed.

Sometimes I think people try to be deliberately contrary on here.

I think most or at least most people I know who saw a 3 year old fall over, would ask if they were ok and help grab the shopping. He sounds a knob especially just watching you struggle on with shopping and an upset child.

LubaLuca · 22/05/2021 21:12

Step to the side, let him pass, carry on at your own pace.

Did you really think your toddler, who was carrying shopping, would be able to keep pace with a man in a hurry?

QueenAdreena · 22/05/2021 21:12

What world do we live in where an adult can't speak considerately to another adult?

A world where neurological and developmental disorders exist? A world where some people are extremely shy/socially awkward? A world where not everyone responds to situations in the perfect way, but it doesn’t make them a bad, rude or nasty person?

This completely.
JellyTumble · 22/05/2021 21:16

Nonsense - we were walking faster as he was right on our heels

Nonsense - he wouldn’t have literally run into you, there was no need to walk faster and rush your toddler so she fell over.

Take some responsibility.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 22/05/2021 21:17

Was this meant to be attempt on some weird poetry?

Bourbonic · 22/05/2021 21:20

YABU for even posting when you've clearly already made your mind up.

I think it was quite rude of you not to pull your child in and let him pass, and it's quite entitled of you to expect a stranger to pick up your shopping which you dropped because a. You were needlessly rushing a toddler and b. You weren't organised enough to have a bag.

Slippy78 · 22/05/2021 21:22

You're being an idiot.

AIBU threads are always the worst when the OP refuses to consider that they are anything but 100% in the right. What’s the point in even posting?

GirlCrush · 22/05/2021 21:28

Op is your name Kerry?

You definitely remind me of someone....

slashlover · 22/05/2021 21:29

@Queenie6655

It was a teeny walk way with no room to let him past Hence why we walked faster to get to a wide section to let him past
If the walkway was too narrow for him to pass you then...how did he pass you?

Validation and arse kissing.
Livingintheclouds · 22/05/2021 21:36

He should have waited. He could at the very least said 'excuse me', and 'I'm sorry'. Standing (or sitting) watching was rude.
You should not have rushed. You could have told him to back off. You need to be calmer in these situations, your stress will only make your child more stressed.

skybluee · 22/05/2021 21:47

If you know someone is behind you who wants to get past don't you step to the side?

Bex268 · 22/05/2021 21:48

Ugh, some of these posters are intolerable.

He was an arse!

YANBU but there’s a few people here who are.

Yes.
GirlCrush · 22/05/2021 21:49

Maybe indulging a toddler in a busy Saturday was part of the problem here

Did you expect him to slowly loiter behind saying ‘awwww isn’t she adorable’??

I think you did

JellyTumble · 22/05/2021 21:51

Yeah - you, OP.

Make sure you teach your kid some.

In what way was she 'indulging' the toddler? By... letting it walk on its own feet?

This thread seems to be settling into a 50/50 mix of "you were totally unreasonable to hurry, your own fault" and "you were totally unreasonable not to have hurried more, your own fault."

GirlCrush · 22/05/2021 21:55

Indulging by letting said kid carry shopping....

GoldenOmber · 22/05/2021 21:55

Next time, OP, simply dematerialise the toddler and scramble up the side of the building Spiderman style to get out of the way of random huffing strangers who are In A Hurry (until the point when they get to their own car). It's the only reasonable, polite thing to do.

Sunflowers095 · 22/05/2021 21:56

@Queenie6655 you were rude and unreasonable. Surely it's common sense to pull up behind/in from of someone you're with if you're taking up the entire width of the path?

But instead you rushed your toddler and then blamed a stranger for her falling?
