I HATE my wedding dress

xela21 · 19/05/2021 16:38

I'm getting married next month, my dress has arrived and I hate it. I need to find a new one and fast. Please help?

I have toyed with the idea of non-white dresses, at this rate I'm open to anything. Ideally wanted a midi length pale dress that doesn't look like a bridesmaid dress (The one I have bought is blush and floaty and bridesmaidy). :( :(

The ghost one is definitely bridal enough in silver. I wish I had a reason to buy it!

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 19/05/2021 19:41

The Ghost one is very pretty.

mahguy · 19/05/2021 19:42

@TheCrowening I know!

OldTinHat · 19/05/2021 19:46

I think that's beautiful OP, absolutely gorgeous. I got married in scarlet, a friend of mine got married in an actual plum bridesmaid dress from a wedding boutique and she looked gorgeous. If you're happy in it and feel confident and stunning then go for it. If you feel awkward and really do hate it then send that one back and try some more.

mrschocolatte · 19/05/2021 19:51

The Ghost dress in silver is gorgeous and I think looks bridal too.

How about something a bit more quirky?

Does anyone own a Ghost dress? I'm just slightly concerned it will be mega clingy - I am a size 8 - small waist, slim arms but a little curvy which is great for the bum/boobs regions but over lockdown have developed slight tummy bulge which I fear the satin ghost dress might draw attention to!

[quote rosegoldwatcher]This is lovely, in my opinion. Colour is described as Old Rose.

that's stunning!

@xela21

Wow, thanks so much everyone for your suggestions!

I wish they did this ghost dress in gold/champagne : www.ghost.co.uk/claudia_dress_silver_lake-ds38ca-b37
Do we think it is bridal enough in silver?

Is this too dark to be bridal? www.silkfred.com/boutiques/adrianna-papell/clothing/metallic-pleated-gown-in-champagne

I think champage/gold is definitely the answer, I'm slightly less insistent on the midi length now though (what colour shoes would you pair with a pale gold dress?)

I do think it's good in silver!

Have you looked at monsoon. They do a really nice wedding section

Suggest you try it on. Satin dresses can look amazing on curves provided it’s lined sufficiently- I have a few and I’m a 12. But I think if you have a bit of a bulge you could try some light/ summer weight spanx or similar to hold it in gently.

Does this look too bridesmaidy too?

I like the lemon version of that one.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 19/05/2021 20:08

The silver Ghost dress is also my favourite, but of the latest selection, I really like your number 2, @xela21. Maybe it's my eyes, though, but the colour looks very grey, rather than the olive green it says it is. I wonder if you might get a shock when you see the colour in real life?

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 19/05/2021 20:09

Sorry, no idea where the olive green came from. As you were!

NotyouGuillermo · 19/05/2021 20:10

Needle & Thread do some lovely bridal styles in champagne.

Prettypennies · 19/05/2021 20:11

I love the silver Ghost one OP, I would go for that! Absolutely stunning. The asos ones are a little too bridesmaid-y.

I would wear some good supportive underwear underneath the dress to help suck you in!

littlebillie · 19/05/2021 20:12

There are loads of preloved bridal shops in the uk

looptheloopinahulahoop · 19/05/2021 20:13

The Ghost one is nice but I prefer a sleeve. My wedding dress didn't really have a sleeve and I'd looked at a different one that did, and still wish I'd gone for that dress. But of all the dresses people/you have suggested I think it's the nicest (though I can't see the Coast ones due to the cookie wall).

CaraherEIL · 19/05/2021 20:14

Ghost tend to use a more heavyweight satin fabric which tends to skim over areas rather than cling in my experience. Also I think Ghost will look more special I think the quality of the fabric on the asos ones might let them down.

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 19/05/2021 20:16

Number 2 is lovely. It looks completely grey though, why does it say olive 🤔

looptheloopinahulahoop · 19/05/2021 20:16

I must say I like quite a few of these but may not be what you are looking for OP www.monsoon.co.uk/wedding-occasion/the-bride/wedding-dresses-/
