Unexpectedly amazing food

I recently bought some Chicago Town Loaded Tomato pizzas as they were on offer in the local shop, I'm not normally that keen on frozen pizza so I cooked it for the kids and just saved myself a sliver.... Omg it was amazing. I had to go out and buy 3 more. When I was buying it the checkout lady said. "have you tried these, it's the best pizza ever?".

I gave my neighbours a slice each and unprompted they said it was the best pizza they have ever had!!

What unexpectedly amazing food have you tried recently... I need new good food in my life!!

Perhaps not quite the spirit of this thread (but, so what) but the little pop up Mumsnet video of the omelette being made looks like the worst omelette ever...

Aldi do a cheese bake in a little terracotta dish. There’s one with chorizo in too and it’s lovely

Omg yes agree this this so good. And the useful dish makes a great cat dish after. I do like a bonus freebie 😄

I managed to upgrade some very uninspiring boring ginger biscuits today by spreading crunchy peanut butter on them

And yes to Sabra Hummus! It’s amazing! I could easily eat a tub in one sitting!

OP, googled your pizza and found this youtube review from possibly the most irritating man in the world.

Rotisserie chicken from Morrisons. I get one every time I go. Just standard.

Asparagus fried with no oil but with a little water added to prevent it from sticking. Paprika sprinkled on top. With poached eggs on top. Bloody lovely.

Same, is it the loaded cheese one? If so it is nice but not thread worthy!

I love that sabra houmous. I have to limit how often I buy it. Also marmite houmous which is like crack. I agree with Richmond veggie sausages too.

Sainsbury’s sourdough crumpets are fantastic. Tesco finest spicy red pepper (I think) pitta breads are the nicest non home made ones. MIL asked about where I’d bought them because they were so good.

I’m veggie and squeaky bean fake pastrami is so good I don’t miss a real Reuben toastie any more.

I love Iceland’s Gino D’Acampo margarita pizza. It’s got a really nice tomato sauce, which to me is more important than cheese.

Vegan smoke Gouda style cheese slices - I’m actually addicted to them.

@SonnyWinds

Those Chicago Town pizzas are unbelievably good but for the love of GOD do not let them defrost before cooking - absolute disaster. We didn't have space in the freezer once so I left it on the side for a couple of hours before dinner...nightmare. It's because the dough is raw (which is why they're so good). Y.U.M.

This is very true. Mine accidentally defrosted in the car and it was bloody awful. Just a doughy mess.

To those saying it's weird to give some to my neighbour, our garden set up is very weird so we see a lot of each other. They said they were hungry, I was eating in the garden so offered them a slice.

Definitely not a marketer, but they are bloody lovely!! 😂

Richmond Vegan sausages. Taste exactly like the real thing! You can’t even tell the difference,

I bought some last week on the recommendation of MN. I was nearly sick they were that bad. Greasy, over salted and nauseatingly smooth texture.

Chicago town pizzas (loaded cheese takeaway ones) are incredible though! Even my pizza hating DH enjoys a slice.

I nominate the posh Spanish marmalade waitrose sells. So zingy and juicy...hands down the best

Oh. I must try this. I love marmalade

@Plexiglas

Chicago Town pizza is fairly rank, synthetic tasting tomato and oily cheese. Picard or Crostica and Mollica is a good frozen back up though.

In general I'd agree. But the stuffed crust loaded tomato ones are heaven!!

I tried the Chicago Town pizza when the kids were young I thought it was vile. Not much of a pizza fanatic as they are really a toasted sandwich .
Best food 🍱 I have had is my DD now lives in Thailand 🇹🇭 . We have been twice but now who knows?

Sorry OP, Crosta and Mollica pizza bases are the only way to get pizza from the supermarket! They are amazing!

Agree with Sabra hummus though, it’s by far the best one in supermarkets.

Also, vegan applewood. Vegan cheese is almost all disgusting but the applewood is one of the very few that is genuinely good - the other one being mozzarisella but you can’t get that in supermarkets as far as I know.

@PurpleDaisies yes! Squeaky bean pastrami is amazing. I love it with Edwards pickles (a Northern Irish brand) which were also an unexpected delight.

Waitrose do these little President crispy Brie slices, oh my god I love them.

I love the mushroom one - so salty!
