Unexpectedly amazing food

I recently bought some Chicago Town Loaded Tomato pizzas as they were on offer in the local shop, I'm not normally that keen on frozen pizza so I cooked it for the kids and just saved myself a sliver.... Omg it was amazing. I had to go out and buy 3 more. When I was buying it the checkout lady said. "have you tried these, it's the best pizza ever?".

I gave my neighbours a slice each and unprompted they said it was the best pizza they have ever had!!

What unexpectedly amazing food have you tried recently... I need new good food in my life!!

I don't think any supermarket pizzas are great but agree that the aldi sourdough ones are the best of any.

My absolute favourite chocolate was Asda Extra Special Peruvian Milk chocolate. I'm normally a dark chocolate fan but this was so good. Tastes of vanilla and toffee. Creamy but not sickly. It hasn't been in stock since before Christmas!!!! I keep looking and hoping....

Chicago town mini pizzas are amazing, especially meat feast

Having a big party for my 40th, I'd heard Iceland's party food was really good, but I'd never shopped there before, so I went before the party and, yes, their party snacks were really tasty and people commented on how nice they were.

If it’s the Chicago Town pizza with the crust stuffed with tomato purée I agree, I had a pepperoni one a while back and it was really good.

I love Chovi Alioli, it is the most garlicky thing I’ve ever tasted and is amazing with breadsticks.

Ooh, and Waitrose do these sweet potato falafels that have raisins and carrot and cumin in - dunked in houmous, they are the food OF THE GODS
Omg yes! They are the best falafels ever!!!
OnTheSeaShore · 08/05/2021 20:32

As soon as I saw the title I thought of Chicago Town pizzas. They're almost always on offer at Tesco (£2.50 each for a large one) and we have a freezer full of them!! We doctor them a bit with capers and olives but they're amazing. Definitely the best frozen pizza we've ever had. We've got to the stage we begrudge spending on a Domino's or Pizza Hut because they're so much more expensive and no nicer!

Yes I've had those. Very nice. I buy them if they're on offer as they're quite expensive otherwise

Last night I had Chicken Katsu from the ready meal aisle in Sainsburys - bloody lovely!

Mochi balls that my local Asda have started selling. Sound just weird but taste amazing, the texture is a bit odd but in a good way Smile

Kraft cheesy pasta

NCNCNCNCNCNCNCNCNC · 08/05/2021 20:36

@Notable the fragata olive stuffed ones are the food of gods. Something so delicious about them!

MintyMabel · 08/05/2021 20:36

I can’t say it’s the best pizza ever, but of all the frozen pizzas I’ve tried, I like Chicago town ones the best.

Tesco own stuffed crust cheese and tomato pizza.

We got this as a sub when there were no CT pizzas. It was awful. Tasted like feet and the cheese had a weird texture.

Love Mochi

Oooh also the discovery of Sabra hummus which is the nearest thing to 'real' middle Eastern hummus I've had rather than the grainy supermarket stuff. It is absolutely full of fat though

Whymrsrobinson · 08/05/2021 20:42

What? Is someone being paid? Ct pizzas are awful. Expensive gooey flo by yucky crap. No one likes them and they eat everything.

Plexiglas · 08/05/2021 20:43

Chicago Town pizza is fairly rank, synthetic tasting tomato and oily cheese. Picard or Crostica and Mollica is a good frozen back up though.

Sabra Baba Ganoush is lovely, too.
Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly · 08/05/2021 20:44

The tastiest food I have ever eaten that doesn't sound special (or even edible) is sweetcorn blitzed into custard. Absolutely epic stuff.

Roselilly36 · 08/05/2021 20:45

The Aldi cheese bake is awesome.

MyOctopusFeature · 08/05/2021 20:51

Ireland. One of those small market towns by the south coast. Dungarvan it may have been. Not sure. Quiet Summer evening. Could hear a pin drop. Found in a quiet back street a small restaurant at about 8pm. Only room for two. Only about a dozen people in total.

Home made chicken and vegetable broth with croutons. €4 if I remember correctly. The range and subtleness of so many flavours. It was like coming home.

thenightsky · 08/05/2021 20:52

@SmidgenofaPigeon

Dr Oetker pizza is my favourite.

Waitrose do these little President crispy Brie slices, oh my god I love them.

Oh yes. Dr Oetker pizza is amazing. Chicago Town are bloody awful OP.

😂😂😂😂 At the pizza snobs and just pure wanky posts on this thread.

8monthsinandcranky · 08/05/2021 20:53

Fwiw DH and I are passionate pizza lovers and (pre covid) spent a fair bit of time eating amazing pizza all over Italy itself.

CT is not ‘the best pizza ever’ but I’m gonna be honest it’s pretty damn good as far as the ‘not fresh’ and ‘heavily processed’ category goes.

They’ve actually been around ages though I remember when I was at college (good 10 years ago) we had a pizza/chips kiosk and CT loaded was the pizza they sold. It wasn’t branded quite the same way back then but I found out from one of the women who worked there as I liked it so much I wanted to buy it at home.

Not sure I’d stomach it as well now though, it was fab but very processed

BiscoffAddict · 08/05/2021 20:54

Richmond Vegan sausages. Taste exactly like the real thing! You can’t even tell the difference,

jollyho · 08/05/2021 20:54

ASDA create your own pizza with double spicy beef and extra cheese. Heavenly, because it’s so cheap.
