Ok, so I am an expert re politics but I don't know why everyone is hating Boris. No one has had to deal with the issues he has re Brexit / Global pandemic and he has pretty much pulled both out of the bag. Look at us compared to Europe. How many lives have been lost due to their childish sniping. He has also had Covid. i am just baffled why everyone is hating on him, please explain???? So am I being unreasonable liking boris as an actual human being that makes mistakes but get shit done?

OP posts:
YouJustFoldItIn · 08/05/2021 16:18

Nice. Well that says everything we need to know about what kind of person you are.

Serpenta · 08/05/2021 16:25

And it's clear what kind of person you are. A credulous soul and an overwrought Boris superfan who has tantrums on Mumsnet if anyone insults the object of your fantasies.

YouJustFoldItIn · 08/05/2021 16:30

How childish you are. Pathetic.

TruelyWonder · 08/05/2021 16:31

Hug it out lovely people. No point getting personal ❤

I like Boris

@bakingbernie I agree. I think throughout we have reported deaths, cases and new strains religiously and often to our detriment

Totally agree with you both

shinynewapple21 · 08/05/2021 17:15

I think if OP had really wanted to debate the merits of Boris Johnson s/he would have returned to the thread !

littlepattilou · 08/05/2021 19:24

@Pedallleur

Michel Barnier described him as baroque. Diplomatic language well used if you look up the meaning.
Who gives a shit what an insignificant, bitter, bad loser like Barnier thinks? Confused

He is sooooooooo irrelevant it's actually funny.

Clavinova · 08/05/2021 19:51

contracts to supply PPE
You have the health secretary and his sister forming a company out of nowhere to take one of these contracts

Not PPE contracts - waste disposal contracts with NHS Wales.
His sister's company was founded in 2002 -

Haven’t RTFT but if Johnson had locked down earlier in the autumn like the scientists were telling him my husband would probably still be alive. Instead he caught covid while being treated for something else in hospital.
Have you seen this book by PeterOborne. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/139850100X/ref=dbs_a_w_dp_139850100x?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

You might change your mind when you see the meticulously documented evidence of all his lies.

DuesToTheDirt · 08/05/2021 20:05

He is a liar. He was a proven liar way before he got elected, and this has continued. He is also a coward - after the Brexit vote he and his cronies just hid, and this trait has also continued, e.g. refusing televised interviews. And as for standing by his crony Cummings after Barnard Castle, I have no words. He has zero respect for the people of this country.

There are politicians whose views I disagree with, but recognise that they are trying to do a good job. But Boris? He's just out for himself.

Porchie · 08/05/2021 20:09

Luckily, in this country, you can hold the opinion you have and vote the way you want and that is your right and we should all be grateful for that. A lot of people agree with you according to the elections yesterday!

For anyone that's intrigued by the book , here's a review of it in the guardian, www.theguardian.com/books/2021/feb/03/the-assault-on-truth-by-peter-oborne-review-boris-johnsons-lies

"Has it ever occurred to you that Boris's refusal to publicly acknowledge this child or to dish the details is out of respect for her mother?"

Post of the thread. Boris doesn't have any respect for any woman.

Hawkins001 · 08/05/2021 20:15

One of the main issues is a good percentage of people are more interested in the fictional tv shows, rather than studying politics in depth. If more people were more versed in the understanding and art of political parties and politics in general, it may lead to better understanding and perspectives.
the80sweregreat · 08/05/2021 20:17

I can see why people like him. I really can.
I don't personally and I feel he is actually very dangerous. However , he is popular and his party are winning a lot of seats and they did well in the local elections and he gets away with things and he seems to be on the up even more than before.

Porchie · 08/05/2021 20:28

@Hawkins001

Isn’t that quite patronising? “These people can’t be held responsible for their decisions because they watch so much tv”

That may not have been what you meant, I might just be being stroppy, but for whatever reason people vote the way they do, their vote is valid. If someone who only watches fiction and looks up conspiracy theories on telly votes for Labour / conservative, their vote is as valid as my vote born of 2 degrees and a Guardian supportive subscription. Looking down on people for why they vote the way they do, won’t get the opposition anywhere. They need to listen and understand it, not sneer.

Stoppissingonmyheather · 08/05/2021 20:31

Can't be bothered to read all of this but I agree he is doing his best he gets things done and he is trying to do the right thing it's not his fault Covid happened he has looked after everyone with unprecedented assistance to business self employed with furlough etc he listens to criticism and tries to do something about it. Yes there are mistakes and no ones perfect but I believe they are all doing their best with our interests at heart which is something no Tory government have ever had before. I hated Tories for years but I think they are doing ok. So what if you don't agree with the b word etc at least he moved it forward and is sorting it instead of procastrinating dithering and never doing anything. Yes mental health nhs etc etc is not in the best position but he is pouring cash and projects into everything to try and make things better for everyone all whilst suffering and being hospitalised with corona himself becoming leader having a baby and pushing brexit through in the space of about 5 months I say carry on Boris.

Xansaf · 08/05/2021 20:33

Wow mumsnet is full of pseudo socialists who don’t understand politics. Who’d have ever thought?

Stoppissingonmyheather · 08/05/2021 20:34

Hahaha I love that when someone has a different opinion Mumsnet loves to assume they know nothing at all about politics what a load of shite.

Hawkins001 · 08/05/2021 20:50

I can understand your perspectives, one person I know in the past, admitted they only voted for Tony Blair because they liked his hair style, then at the same time, was happy to criticise his style of government, I would never look down on someone, as I prefer for people to be better educated so that they may choose someone to lead the country that hopefully had good intentions rather than voting because they like the hair style,

the80sweregreat · 08/05/2021 20:56

People are turned off by politics though.
It is amazing how many people are not even aware of the basics and they are so educated on other areas of life too.,

My parents ' taught ' me. I guess many don't even get this do they?
I'm not that educated, but enough to be aware of the political landscape at least on a superficial level. For others it's seen as ' boring ' or not relevant to them.

Porchie · 08/05/2021 21:27

Sure, people vote for all sorts of reasons I wouldn’t vote.
I consider myself a floating voter - some people will vote only Tory even if they have absurd policies, because their mum told them something brilliant about the Tories (of the 70s) and think no further than that. I don’t do that personally.

I would vote for Starmer if his manifesto were good enough. Boris I did vote for because I saw no alternative - I’m Jewish and I can’t vote for an anti semite or someone who appears to condone anti Semitism in the party - and my GOD was I sick of the Brexit standoff.

But my vote is not more important than anyone else’s - my views are not worth more than someone who thinks Corbyn’s politics are socialist splendour and he is a brilliant representative of what they feel. They carry equal worth. I like to think of myself as a left leaning centrist but I had no one more centrist to vote for than the frigging Conservative candidate! It was crazy in my opinion. I was amazed at the landslide but the sink estates voted, the working class voted. Not just the middle class left so well represented on here.

blueangel19 · 08/05/2021 21:29

They can hate all they want but he was elected for a reason. Being an MP is not a personality contest and his private life is nobody business. Boris works hard and focus on the right things. Jobs, economy recovery and getting us out of the pandemic is what we need. All those things are happening so good job Boris.

ElephantsNest · 08/05/2021 21:31

Well if that’s his best @Stoppissingonmyheather then it isn’t good enough. We should expect a lot more of our politicians. The current crop of shitesters are generally of a low intellectual standard and have no moral compass.
