What is the most you have ever won?

Just out of curiousity what is the most you have ever won? Whether that be in a competition or on the lottery?

I can't even win £1 on a scratch card 🤣 I'm just wondering if people actually ever won anything?

Ps I'm not a gambler nor do I intend to gamble, this is purely just following a conversation me and my friend were having earlier.

40 on a scratch card which I bought with my last quid on my birthday 😀

cafenoirbiscuit · 06/05/2021 08:56

DH and I won £18 in a casino in the Dominican Republic. The management were called and we were accused of cheating. We held our ground, they paid up, threw us out and banned us from going back.
We laughed all the way back to the hotel 😂

£50 on the premium bonds when I was 16. I only had £15 of premium bonds then as well! Of course now I'm a grown up with £1000 of premium bonds I've only won £25 in 5 years.

On a 1 cent slot machine in Las Vegas I won $19.20

LordOfTheOnionRings · 06/05/2021 09:09

£250 on a scratch card.

5 numbers on the lottery which was about £1600.

I mean it was great - but we were actually slightly disappointed 😂 We were holding our breath whilst checking the prize fund as we had no idea what the prize was.

5 numbers just sounds so many, like mini-jackpot territory iyswim but obviously not!
@Zancah Grin I've had a really bad day but your comment has absolutely cheered me up no end. Actually laughed out loud! Thank you
Ditto, loved it Grin

Yeh I've heard this before. My friend said she got 5 numbers and I was like OH MY GOD! What did you win? And I think it was even less than what you won!

I actually won £100 with 3 numbers once when it was a draw that "must be won" and they boost the winnings of the other values, if there's no jackpot winner.

I haven't but DS when he was 19 came to the horse races with us on holiday in York, he had about £25 to spend but came away with about £800, DH and I won very little but DS kept putting a fiver on random horses and winning.

Garliccoriander · 06/05/2021 09:19

Used to do competitions on the Internet. Won a holiday to Italy 🇮🇹 and a car racing day with hotel for DH. He has also won £1k at Bingo.
Lots of earlier prizes as started competitions when DD was a baby now 34.
If we do get up and running at some point I enjoy tombolas at the various local fairs. Any food/ beauty products won are put in food banks, unfortunately I have to keep any alcohol wins 😂

yumscrumfatbum · 06/05/2021 09:21

DH won £111, 000 as part of a lottery syndicate 17 years ago. It enabled us to have another child, move house, extend house etc. We gave some away to family and invested some for our children. It's made a big difference to us and our financial security. I have never played the lottery or even put a bet on!

A weekend break with accomodation, activities and all meals paid for in the Highlands through a Facebook competition!

Natsel84 · 06/05/2021 09:23

1200 on bingo

Fluffy40 · 06/05/2021 09:29

500 on the poppy lottery, treated myself to an iPad

Jaxhog · 06/05/2021 09:30

500 pounds and a personal shopper. It was one of those 'put your business card in the jar' competitions at a conference. I always assumed they were a con to get your contact details!

NormanSicily · 06/05/2021 09:31

Have won a few things over the years, usually items or experiences, but recently won £200 worth of vouchers. Years ago I was part of a work lottery syndicate which won a medium sum. I'd been on holiday to Greece and had been on a real shoe string budget. Came back to a cheque for a few hundred quid on my desk, wish I'd received it BEFORE the holiday!

Feedex · 06/05/2021 09:34

a 10k luxury holiday when I was a struggling student, it was ace! And a £6k cruise a few years later, also ace. No-way I would have spent that kind of money ( even if I had it ) on those types of holidays but it was a great experience.

Spied · 06/05/2021 09:34

£Just over £20 once years ago on four numbers in the lottery.

Pootles34 · 06/05/2021 09:35

We also got about £1500 with 5 numbers on the lottery. Thankfully we play online, so found out the amount we'd won before we found out it was 5 numbers - I would have assumed 5 numbers would clear your mortgage!

Apparently whilst you can't choose numbers that are more likely to win, you can choose less popular numbers, and therefore win more if they come up.

RedRec · 06/05/2021 09:37

£500 on Spot the Ball, shared with my mum. I bought a bike with my share. Loved that bike and especially how I was able to get it.

SummerOfComedy · 06/05/2021 09:37

I won £278 on online bingo. The cash come in very handy. Our roof was leaking so we had it fixed for £250.

So called 'roofer' did a terrible job. Roof still leaked. (Tried to get him back, but that was a waste of time)

Had to pay a proper roofer to do a good job.

😕

NormanSicily · 06/05/2021 09:38

Oh, and when DS1 was a baby I won a competition through the co-op to go to football match at the local ground as they were sponsoring the prize or something. They automatically entered all their customers so the first thing I knew about it was when I got the letter saying I'd won. So tickets to the game, a walk onto the pitch to have photos with the players as the start, and lunch with the directors. I took my rugby-mad welsh FIL who kept loudly commenting about wrong shaped balls and the unmanliness of football players, it was a hilarious experience!

Ohcrapbags · 06/05/2021 09:39

Almost £300 on a thunder all ticket.

It fucking sucked though because I got a lot of numbers. I really thought it was going to be thousands!

Was so pissed off at £300, but hey, it helped with the bills that much so couldn’t complain (but still annoyed it wasn’t 100k).

GameSetMatch · 06/05/2021 09:40

4 Tickets to the theatre any production we choose, we haven’t been yet due to covid 🙄
