What is the most you have ever won?

Just out of curiousity what is the most you have ever won? Whether that be in a competition or on the lottery?

I can't even win £1 on a scratch card 🤣 I'm just wondering if people actually ever won anything?

Ps I'm not a gambler nor do I intend to gamble, this is purely just following a conversation me and my friend were having earlier.

Via a Facebook competition - Tickets to a Harry Potter screening event. There was a Q & A with some of the actors afterwards, and a big bag of goodies to take home.

A few hundred pounds here and there at the casino, 1k on the grand National from a £20 bet a few years ago.

On a kids TV station - Games console and games circa 2002, won by answering questions about my favourite TV show. If I had lost I would have been covered in green slime on TV.

I won a family ticket to a music festival (worth about £600).

I won £100 Boden voucher (which didn’t go very far!)

I won two tickets to a Rolling Stone gig at the 02.

I won a family ticket to the enchanted Christmas House (worth about £200).

What’s funny is 3/4 of wins were photo completions. Evidently my nutty family take crazy pictures.

DH did a football accumulator and won £25,000.

He was one right result away from £250,000!!! that's the way they get you isn't it

OnTheBrink1 · 06/05/2021 07:56

@Zancah omg absolutely hilarious!

bonbonours · 06/05/2021 08:03

I once won £150 quid in the school raffle (top prize). I had already bought some tickets in advance but just before the draw I bought an extra one just on the spur of the moment. They chucked it in and immediately did the draw (presumably without mixing up the tickets). They asked for a child volunteer to draw it out, and my daughter (aged about 8) got picked. I jokingly said to her "make sure to pick out mine!", she put her hand in, took the first ticket at the top, which was mine!!!! Looked like an absolute fix but obviously she couldn't really have known which was mine.

Also won a mumsnet competition once, tickets to CBeebies Live and meet the presenters. That was a fun win, as my kids were just the right age to appreciate it. All the presenters were lovely and chatted to the kids, except for Justin Fletcher who was a right show-biz luvvie with no time to give the kids, posed for a photo then immediately turned away.

£1000 on an Anthony Joshua fight, with my last £20.

It was a dumb fucking move. But it paid off.

A few weeks ago I won £500 worth of Nectar Points I a competition I didn't realise I had entered!

Other than that, £25 from Premium Bonds and the odd set of teatowels or similar in raffles.

SmithfamilyRobinson · 06/05/2021 08:15

Not much more than £10 in cash on scratch cards/lottery although DH has often won more (until I sussed he was 'investing' £80 a month...) better luck with competitions - weekend away to Barcelona, although DH won full set of Mozart CDs, CD player, Mulberry socks, tickets to Reading Festival, smart speaker, DAB alarm clock radio ( some of these we sold on so became cash). Friend of mine won £100k on football pools decades ago and it has became transformational for the family's lives/aspirations.

HforHavana · 06/05/2021 08:16

My bank gave me £360 back in an 'it's on us' scheme where they refund random transactions. It was my most expensive transaction that month so I was happy.
Other than that, £20 on the first scratch card I ever bought. Zilch since.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 06/05/2021 08:17

£30 on a slot machine.

TakeMeToKernow · 06/05/2021 08:21

£100 on a lottery ticket I only purchased because I was in a special place (geographically, not emotionally 🤣) and just “felt lucky”. Extra special now, that place!

BiscoffAddict · 06/05/2021 08:22

£120 on the National Lottery.

AppaTheSixLeggedFlyingBison · 06/05/2021 08:23

A £20 Amazon voucher, all of these comments are making me want to enter more competitions....

Orangesand · 06/05/2021 08:32

On a zoo raffle I won the top prize to do a lion feeding experience

Londongent · 06/05/2021 08:36

£140 on the lotto. I actually had 4 numbers and the bonus number, so I was only 1 number away from £1m.....I had that number (one of two potential numbers) on the line below

poundoflard · 06/05/2021 08:37

Lynx Africa in school raffle, I'm surely not the only parent to have won this gem ?

Regular £25 in premium bonds, and one year a £100 and £200 on them
A charity raffle I won a board game and an organic chicken.
2 people I know have won the big prize ( £400k kind of amount) on post code lottery .

Melitza · 06/05/2021 08:40

£40 is the most money I’ve ever won.
3 years ago a group I belong to had a tombola. We were late arriving at the event as we got lost. We were encouraged to spend money on said tombola.
I won a litre of really good gin and my friend won a couple of plants.
Unbeknown to us, as we were fairly new members, some of the group were very annoyed.

A year later at the next event a woman made reference to me not winning all the prizes this time!

butterpuffed · 06/05/2021 08:41

I won five scratchcards in a raffle then £90 on the scratchcards. Win win !!!

FiveShelties · 06/05/2021 08:41

I entered a competition to win a limited edition Mini in the 1980s. A lady rang me and told me I had won, I was over the moon, until she told me I had won second prize which was a power car washer.

I know I should have been more grateful but ..............

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 06/05/2021 08:44

£20 nearly every night on a pub fruit machine. I worked there and after closing I'd know how much had been pumped in and whether it was due a pay out or not.

£26 on the grand national the year West Tip won. It must have been mid 80s.

Gingefringe · 06/05/2021 08:45

I was part of a syndicate that won over £500k - this was around 26 years ago when the national lottery had just been launched. There were around 63 of us in the syndicate so our share was about £8k - it was amazing at the time.
