Just out of curiousity what is the most you have ever won? Whether that be in a competition or on the lottery?

I can't even win £1 on a scratch card 🤣 I'm just wondering if people actually ever won anything?

Ps I'm not a gambler nor do I intend to gamble, this is purely just following a conversation me and my friend were having earlier.

I won 2 cinema tickets to see Legally Blonde at an advanced screening at my local cinema. I think I was about 13/14 at the time.

More recently I have won;

A kindle
Various amounts from £3-40 on scratch cards
£42 on The Grand National

I never win anything on premium bonds.

I have a friend though who enters loads of competitions and she has won 5 or 6 holidays in the last 10 years to various places, along with all sorts of other stuff like a years worth of dog food etc.

forwardranger
We were redecorating at the time, so bought new sofas and TV. A new fridge freezer and bits for the garden and paid off the finance on my car.

I don't gamble online now tho as it's easy to get addicted.

Outnumbered99 · 06/05/2021 10:11

£200 on a scratchcard, often win £2-£10 on them though. Probably spend £6 a month or so on them.
£25 a few times on the premium bonds (i have about 4k of them)

tywysoges · 06/05/2021 10:15

£300-ish on an online slots game, then £130 on Lotto. I own the euromillions this week, £5.30 for 3 numbers. Grin

ArrrMeHearties · 06/05/2021 10:17

850 on tombola bingo 3yrs ago, got £1 worth of tickets and have never won again lol

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 06/05/2021 10:25

You know those 2p shuffle slots at the fun fair? Well there was this huge overhang. I'd been watching it for a while. It was getting bigger and bigger. My dad wouldn't give me any money so I was just hanging around. I saw 2p on the floor so picked it up waiting my turn. Got to the front, put my 2p in. Didn't win! Gutted!

Caramel81 · 06/05/2021 10:29

£70 on the lottery a few years ago.

Zebracat · 06/05/2021 10:33

Put £10000 pounds into premium bonds last year and there has only been one month when I didn’t get either £25.00 or £50.00 back. All the excitement of the lottery without losing the stake. Very small amounts, but more than I got in interest when it was ina deposit account.

pheasantlysuprised · 06/05/2021 10:39

I used to put £10 a week on skybet/ skyvegas

I'd do a couple football bets of a few pound then spend the remainder on the slots.

I was sat down playing and I won £140 on a bonus game ... Dh asked why I was smiling so I said I've won £140 and turned the phone to him.

He sat silently and said in a sort of disbelief ' are you winding me up??'

I genuinely didn't know why he said it, it wasn't exactly life changing... till I looked at the phone and read I'd also won the games current jackpot of £11,600

Spidey66 · 06/05/2021 10:40

£50 on a scratchcard.

My husband won £1200 on the lottery. I think it was 5 numbers or something.

Spidey66 · 06/05/2021 10:43

Oh and I once won tickets to see Jools Holland and his Big Band (or whatever they were called) which was a good gig.

GiveMeTulipsfromAmsterdam · 06/05/2021 10:49

@Roselilly36

A holiday to Canada, a weekend hotel break in Windsor, an annual park pass to a local Zoo, a limited edition cake stand. Never money or raffles but lucky in draws.
Wow that is lucky.

I used to enter competitions years ago when there was postal entry and won quite a lot of smaller prizes and cash prizes (biggest was £500) but once mse got onto it and millionslots of others started entering the win rate went right down and then when TW and FB entry stopped bothering. I mean I used to see FB comps with thousands of entries to win a dried up tea bag / something worth a couple of quid and it was a pointless waste of time and energy

AndddddHerewegoagain · 06/05/2021 10:51

Won on a radio competition £1000, a new tv, playstation 4, soundbar, bbq, crate of beer and most importantly a football 😂
Dh didn't believe me until a van pulled up with it all

Time40 · 06/05/2021 11:02

£500 on premium bonds. But my father won £50,000 on them about thirty years ago.

I also won a night at Turnmills club on a Radio One phone-in, about 15 years ago, and saw Pete Tong do his Friday night show from the VIP bar. I was thrilled with that. It was a bit of a weird prize though - just the one ticket, so I had to go on my own. You would have thought they would have given the tickets out in pairs.

Laquila · 06/05/2021 11:03

I'm reading all these, furious that I never win anything and conveniently ignoring the fact that I haven't entered a competition, bet on anything or played the lottery in about 15 years 😂

mumto2teenagers · 06/05/2021 11:04

A holiday to France and a night at Alton Towers on Mumsnet.

A family trip to Washington via a radio phone in competition.

sansou · 06/05/2021 11:05

Coffee machine, posh blender, Christmas Hamper & large box of Hotel Chocolat chocs - all from school raffles over the years.

stimpy1 · 06/05/2021 11:27

I won £2500 for five numbers on the lottery and also felt a bit deflated, as in my head I was paying off the mortgage!! 🤣

crowsfeet57 · 06/05/2021 11:43

£10 000 kitchen, trip to New York, family trip to Disneyland Paris.

Sunbird24 · 06/05/2021 11:50

£6k and £1k on separate occasions on a work lottery. That paid for my new kitchen and a trip to New York!

WhenPushComesToShove · 06/05/2021 11:52

Many years ago I won first (raffle) prize at a charity ball which was to have a piece of bespoke jewellery made by a highly regarded young jeweller.

ladysunshine · 06/05/2021 12:20

£5,000 from an ITV competition. Won it by sending my details on a postcard with a 2nd class stamp. That win saved my bacon!

But my best win was on a lottery ticket, many years ago.
Week before payday, nothing in the fridge, almost empty purse.
I spent my last £5 on basics, bread, milk, etc. As I was leaving I spotted an old lottery ticket in my purse & stopped at the supermarket kiosk to ask if they'd check it for me.

£75! Believe me, it was used very, very carefully. I DID cry a little with relief.

MrsWarleggan · 06/05/2021 13:38

I couldn't win a sodding argument at the moment 🙄

Always have a tummy flip when I get the email from Lotto to say "We have some exciting news!" Exciting news??? £3.20?? 🤦‍♀️

SavannahLands · 06/05/2021 17:43

My Mother once won an inflatable boat sponsored by Mars Bars, it was a sturdy family sized thing that self inflated quite quickly. She had it carried into the front sitting room by the delivery men, then sat reading through the instructions and ‘playing’ with her super prize!

The only problem was that she pressed a button on the inflator box and up it Popped, all 4Mtrs of it, and try as she might, she could not get the blooming thing back down again, she sent for a neighbour who was ex Royal Navy to come and help her, but she said never again, and promptly sold it to him cheaply for him and his sons to go fishing in!
