To never wear a mask again!

Now fully vaccinated.

There’s no point to me wearing a mask anymore and I’m seeing more and more people who may or may not be fully vaccinated not wearing them so why should I bother with the discomfort of wearing one?

WIBU to totally abandon them with glee?!

Who'd have thought it? You should pop down to your local hospital OP, I'm sure they'd be grateful for your opinions.

Yesterday I watched a funeral worker who literally couldn't keep up with the influx coming in I also noticed what would be their A&E had more than one patient to a bed. Maybe those who think it's nothing to worry about could go offer their services to these frontline workers in India? They'll sure be grateful for the extra pairs of hands from these brave souls...

Jennifer2021 · 29/04/2021 09:25

Sorry to the pp on my reply I was agreeing of course. Anyway, as you were.

DenisetheMenace · 29/04/2021 09:27

YABU lots of younger people gave up a great deal to protect others like you. The decent thing to do is to continue mask wearing to protect them until they too have had the opportunity of vaccination. AZ prevents up to 50% transmission, which is great but that still leaves a lot of room to infect other people.

Our 18 year old son has had a very lonely year, no complaints though, he understood the reasons. He has asthma, not bad enough to qualify for an early jab but he could still become very unwell if you passed the infection to him before he’s called for it.

Jennifer2021 · 29/04/2021 09:27

@WaitingForNormality exactly. Thousands of cev children in school who haven't been vaccinated yet and you've got Covid Cranks demanding masks be taken out of class too it's bizarre. Blush
Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy.

awesomekillick · 29/04/2021 09:31

@Clymene

It's strange that people in many far Eastern countries have been wearing masks for years and there have been no additional asthma deaths.

Weird

This is such a pile of ignorance. You have no idea if people - mostly women - who wear masks for cultural reasons due of asthma.
EmeraldShamrock · 29/04/2021 09:32

Considering you have a disabled DS and you're not cev yourself you're even far more self absorbed than I first thought.
I hope this thread has changed your me me mindset.

Helpmebenicer · 29/04/2021 09:33

Selfish to not keep wearing it for other people's sake, I hate them too but will wear until everyone who can be vaccinated has been.

RuggerHug · 29/04/2021 09:34

Fair enough OP. But you are staying away from everyone else right? Because your comfort is the number one important thing to you but you know posing a risk to others is just selfish and wrong. Right? You want the benefits you accept the responsibility that goes with it.

Thatisnotwhatisaid · 29/04/2021 09:35

Selfish attitude. As others have said, you can still transmit even after vaccination. I’m too young to have the vaccination yet and there’s millions more in my position. You wear a mask to protect others, not yourself.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 29/04/2021 09:37

I haven't seen anything that shows 100% that you can't transmit after vaccination.
Vaccinated people still have to follow the rules, mask wearing being one of them along with inside mixing.
You choice - but shops etc are within their rights to not allow you to enter without a mask.

I'm considering continuing to wear a mask when shopping or in crowded spaces. I have so enjoyed not having a cold all year, and until we know for sure how effective the vaccines are would rather protect myself and others.

RedcurrantPuff · 29/04/2021 09:40

So to the “selfish” brigade-

How much does an unwashed cloth or reused disposable mask reduce transmission? This is what most people wear.

I on the other hand have had an injection with a risk, albeit minute, of serious life threatening side effects, which reduces transmission risk to other people by a significant amount.

How does that make me selfish? If that’s the best you can do in terms of an argument, I reckon I’ve been pretty unselfish really.

Lockheart · 29/04/2021 09:43

This is what most people wear.

Do you have any proof of that?

EmeraldShamrock · 29/04/2021 09:44

Do you inspect most people wearing a mask? We've plenty of clean fresh masks washed after each use and a couple of disposable masks in my bag for an emergency, emergency is usually some idiot tries getting on the bus without one, it's easier to give a spare than holding up the journey while they're arguing with the bus driver. Hmm

Helpmebenicer · 29/04/2021 09:49

My masks are all washed frequently, wear them properly etc. It's all about marginal gains isn't it, every little action helps and also keeps people a bit distant when they see a mask, it's a visual prompt.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 29/04/2021 09:54

Got to love the anti-maskers. "I need 100% evidence from multiple sources for every aspect of this, except the shit I spout, thats facts, I saw it on YouTube" 🤣🤣

OnkasBigMoka · 29/04/2021 09:55

The answer to that is enough for a number of people who are better qualified than you to advise that it needs to be mandated and it’s the law.
You don’t get to pick and choose what laws apply to you because of a matter of personal convenience.

Masks help protect others.

I on the other hand have had an injection with a risk, albeit minute, of serious life threatening side effects, which reduces transmission risk to other people by a significant amount.

The risk is small. Very, very small and there are higher risks with other jabs - which include the flu vaccine. The transmission reduction is between 36 - 50% depending on what source you read. That means that in the best case scenario you still potentially could infect quite a lot of people.

Again, masks help protect others.

How does that make me selfish? If that’s the best you can do in terms of an argument, I reckon I’ve been pretty unselfish really.

Well done on getting the vaccine - but let’s be frank its the least of what you could do. You’re being selfish because the guidance states you still need to wear a mask; but because that offends you personally - I am assuming from what you’ve said that you don't wear one.

This means that you still present a risk - therefore you are incredibly selfish.

gallbladderpain · 29/04/2021 09:56

@RedcurrantPuff

And as for the “you can still pass it on” shit - people aren’t going to swallow this shit forever.

And people can parrot about being selfish all they like. I couldn’t give a monkeys. I have only ever complied with any of the restrictions because they were compulsory. I don’t want other people to get ill of course but I don’t see it as my job to prevent it, same as despite being vulnerable I don’t expect others to do it for me.

Well if everyone had took that attitude of it not being their job to prevent the spread of it to others, we would have been in a wonderful position wouldn't we? So it's a good job there are other people who do see that they can play a small part in wider picture.

Admirable. I wish more people felt that way.

Taking the bus yesterday(which still has signs everywhere about mask-wearing) two women got on maskless and sat behind me. I did glance up a bit curiously when
They got on and got daggers back.

Could hear snippets of their conversation and they were TAs so most likely have been vaccinated, so obviously feel free to risk others' health now !?

One got off and the other -I shit you not -had a coughing fit behind me, I don't even know if she was genuinely coughing, whatever it was it had the same effect: I moved then got off next stop.

Utter twunts.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 29/04/2021 10:00

You're never going to win an argument with an anti-masker or anti-vaxxer because they know more than any expert.

gallbladderpain · 29/04/2021 10:01

@RedcurrantPuff

'I said I'm done with being told what to do.....Anyway say what you like, I have done my bit complying with these stupid rules for over a year now and couldn't care less'

What age are you? I have a 4 year old who doesn't even get on like that. Most of life in a civilised society is being told what to do. Do you drink drive, speed, not wear your seatbelt? because well you wouldn't want to do anything you are told after all.

britnay · 29/04/2021 10:03

I work in pharmacy. We're all fully vaccinated. We still wear masks all day. We cannot have anything to eat or drink while working as that would require us to lower our masks. We still regularly wash our hands and apply hand gel. We still clean surfaces multiple times a day. We want to make sure that other people are safe.

We don't enjoy wearing masks. Some of us are asthmatic or have other medical reasons for not having to wear one, yet we still do.
Don't be a dick.

babbaloushka · 29/04/2021 10:05

@Whatisthisfuckery

You’ve gotta laugh at the covid lovers.

I’m worried about having the jab. You must have the jab to protect yourself and others.

I’ve had the jab so I think I’ll stop wearing my mask. No, you can’t do that, you can still pass the virus on.

Whether the so-called vaccine prevents transition of covid very much depends on whether people are being good little sheepies or not.

Surely not wanting the vaccine makes you the COVID lover?
bigbluebus · 29/04/2021 10:07

I volunteer at a vaccination centre where we are currently doing 2nd jabs. Every single person is told by the vaccinators that they still need to stick to the rules - wear a mask where required, stay 2m apart from others a stick to the road map rules. YABU and very selfish - it's not all about you. And plenty of NHS workers have asthma and still manage to wear a mask all day.

Hmm

Calling people sheep doesn't make you clever , you sound dumb and a follower of ...it's not real....surely even the dumbest out there now realise covid is a real virus.

The 'so called vaccine' is a real vaccine and it works. Proven. You might not like that but it's a fact.

PS you forgot to tell us to do our own research (on YouTube) and various other well worn phrases of the dumbest who think they are the awake ones. .GrinGrin

Indeed the professor who has spent all their life working in the field knows less than the 'awake' that do their 'own research' on YouTube, avoid MSM, and use words like sheeple, great reset, control etc ...

Sadly they have no idea how stupid they sound repeating their mantras and sayings Hmm
