Took me a while to understand what they meant by full time parent.

BedknobsNoBroomsticks · 26/04/2021 21:01

At first glance they sounded ok but when you look deeper they are just another bunch of loonies.

My leaflet gladly went into the recycling.

I got that through my door last week too. Honestly thought it was a wind up

DumplingsAndStew · 26/04/2021 21:05

Ah, one of the lovely parties supported by the founders and admins of the UsForThem franchise.

Go figure.

poppycat10 · 26/04/2021 21:09

@Bvop

In a liberal democracy there’s room for all sorts of opinions, including those. I don’t agree with them but fair play to them for putting their case forward and people can choose to vote for them or not. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I hate the demonising of people for holding different political views.
I agree. We have to stop shutting people down. Just because people don't hold views held by the mainstream, doesn't mean that they can't express those views. There are a few things like denying the Holocaust, which is so vile that nobody wants to hear it, but we know full well that there are many people out there who oppose assisted suicide and abortion on demand (not that it is on demand in Scotland or elsewhere in the UK).

People would shut me down for saying that biological sex and gender identity are not the same.

Similarly, if we'd not shut down everyone who was worried about immigration by calling them racist, we might still be in the EU.

These views aren't ones I share, but people are allowed to express them. It's not like the majority agrees with them and I disagree that they are dangerous.

poppycat10 · 26/04/2021 21:10

Interesting that they say they support marriage. Ha ha I bet it's not the same sex kind!

Butwasitherdriveway · 26/04/2021 21:12

@poppycat10

The transgender ideology is a play by them to jump on the confusion and conflict between the groups .

Wonder who else in history did that 😣

Totally agree with Bvop and Poppycat10- this ridiculous culture of shutting people down who are not far-left has to stop. It doesn’t make the opinions of others just miraculously just disappear. They are clearly stating their beliefs (not ones I share) in the correct way- nothing wrong with that at all. Throw it in the bin and vote for who you like.

Tangledtresses · 26/04/2021 21:14

Wow 😳 wtf it's absolutely bonkers

HeadNorth · 26/04/2021 21:16

I saw their party political broadcast - he is a failed maths teacher who obviously couldn't cope because he wants to bring back teachers being able to beat kids. Lovely. Where do I subscribe to the child-beating, anti-trans, weirdo party? Honestly, these people must have serious issues.

There isn't only far left and not far left, you know.

Dreadful 😱

Bvop · 26/04/2021 21:17

I’m not sure I agree these are dangerous beliefs. Not particularly palatable, but it doesn’t tend to be beliefs that are dangerous, but behaviours.

Someone can believe that abortion is sinful and choose to avoid it for themselves, but if they’re not harrassing women outside abortion clinics then is their belief really dangerous?

Again, I don’t share their beliefs but I’m glad I live in a country where it’s okay to set up a political party with views that challenge the status quo and have them peacefully tested at the ballot box.

RogueMNerKnowsNoShame · 26/04/2021 21:17

@NeverDropYourMoonCup

So are midges, but nobody would be daft enough for vote for more of those fuckers.
Brilliant!
tigger1001 · 26/04/2021 21:17

My leaflet went straight in the bin.

Not views I share

me4real · 26/04/2021 21:18

Each to their own. Their views aren't completely uncommon.

Yes.

Teaching youngsters that abortion is wrong, and that they must get married and stay at home and look after their kids, and to rail against sex ed, is dangerous.

@sqirrelfriends Erm... is this Gilead?

You'v nailed it.

Almost worth it on the night to see the narrowminded ones get fewer votes than the Monster Raving Loonies

guerrillagirl · 26/04/2021 21:20

I agree they are dangerous and offensive - I’m all for freedom of speech but not when it violates basic human rights!!

Quite.

I think without the trans ideology vote pulling bollocks theyve thrown in there to take advantage of the current debate, nobody would go for this.

Is that what he means by good behaviour?

Couldn't control his weans so it must be the system's fault. of course.

SelkieIntegrated · 26/04/2021 21:24

I would like to say I'm shocked but we had a party like this in Ireland last election. Aon tu. All the same goals. Unbelievable that a group of people get together and think, this is the gap in the voting landscape. But, wow, yes, there they go. Hopefully no significant numbers will vote for them, but some will think ''oh the party of my dreams, number one!''

Butwasitherdriveway · 26/04/2021 21:26

Yeah, I reckon there are some who might go for the trans and sex ed thing.

Here's the thing though.

What this party want is women married off, at home looking after their 2 weans with their husband (having not had sex ed), not working, no abortion.

Even if you think you agree with the transgender thing, you absolutely cannot justify that.
