Is it rude for people to comment on who your child looks like ?

For example - wow Rosie really looks like her mother doesn't she ! Or, wow I can really see her father in her. Etc. Is it rude to do that?

No its not rude unless its loaded (think fathers family insisting repeatedly the dc only look like their son and not the mother....on MN this seems to have happened alot.

I find it mildly amusing as we get it quite a lot from people about DP and DC . Mainly because no they don't (they are the absolute image of me....to the point we are a bit children of the corny) and also DP is not their biological father so something very odd has happened if they look like him.

I once had a woman genuinely argue with me when I pointed this out to the level that I had to ask her if she thought I couldn't remember who I slept with? Very odd woman.
