How many loo rolls do you get through a week

Am I being unreasonable asking the above question.

I've just switched to a more expensive brand than my usual brand but it is more eco friendly. While working out if it is financially viable I was wondering how much loo roll everyone else goes through ?

What’s a bum gun?

I have no idea what we use a week. We buy a multipack and hide it in a cupboard, thinking we have loads, then invariably panic when we get to the last one.

Mummadeze · 25/04/2021 07:20

I think I am unusual in that I need to poo at least 5-6 times a day. If I try, I can probably do some more or less every time I go to the loo. Therefore I really can’t imagine needing the small amounts people are quoting!

Robostripes · 25/04/2021 07:51

I’m a heavy toilet roll user, DH is a sparse user ... one of the biggest compromises of our marriage!

2 adults wfh full time, 1 5 year old - we go through around 4-5 rolls a week. Probably more if I’m on my period - tend to have looser bowels the first few (heaviest) days of my period and I can probably get through most of a roll from one poo when it’s a bad one!

FindingMeno · 25/04/2021 07:54

2 adults, 2 teenagers.
About 6.
Depends also on the male female ratio in your house.
More females = more loo roll.

@tatoowooo

Do ppl really take note of this? Confused it has never crossed my mind to do that...
I was just about to say this. It staggers me that anyone would know how much loo roll they use in a week.

Staggers you? Really?

Having no idea how much you get through must make shopping - and subsequent toilet use - interesting!

"Don't forget to add loo roll to the shopping list..."
"We still have 4 left, I expect that will last..."
"Oh, good point. Forget that then"
...
"Hey, where's all the toilet roll gone!?!?"

BarbaraofSeville · 25/04/2021 09:25

We also have no idea how long toilet roll lasts and it doesn't make shopping hard.

We buy the big 40 packs from Costco and a couple of times a year (really no idea) when we get to the last few rolls we say 'we'll need to go to Costco in the next week or two as we're running low on loo roll. And that's it.

What staggers me is that there's families that buy a small pack of toilet roll every single week. It's far cheaper to buy in bulk, doesn't go off and it's not like things like crisps where buying large bags just tends to mean that you use it faster.

And we're not talking about people who live in bedsits with no money so they can't keep a few in stock due to cashflow and storage issues. Normal families with normal houses and enough spare money to have a fiver's worth of loo roll in stock.

LCDIT · 25/04/2021 10:01

Two adults, one teenager.. approx 12 rolls per week.

FindingMeno · 25/04/2021 10:30

You know how much loo roll you use if you have to budget, or if you don't live close to shops and need enough to last till the next shop.

But does budgeting not mean by definition that you have X amount available to you? I think you'll find there's less people able to buy anything in bulk than you think, there's months we have to buy The small washing powders/washing up liquid etc. You know it's bad value for money but just has to be done

FindingMeno · 25/04/2021 10:46

Also I would have no idea where I'd store bulk packs of loo roll.
We don't all live in mansions!

TrickyD · 25/04/2021 10:47

They are wonderful things ! Your choice of water temperature, variable position of water jets, and there is an air blower to gently dry your nether regions. It's a great way to complete your toilet visit !

But what happens when you have visitors, or God forbid, a tradesman wanting to use the loo? Don’t you have to explain all the mechanics of it?

BarbaraofSeville · 25/04/2021 10:57

We live in a small 2 bed semi. The toilet roll lives under the bed, with some in the one foot square bathroom cupboard.

No mansion required.

Also, I made it clear I wasn't talking about people with no money, but the average masses who, while they may have a general restriction on grocery shopping budget, aren't so restricted that they can't ever buy a larger pack.

Because if you buy the larger packs, you tend to get into a roll of toilet rolls one week, washing powder the next week, shampoo the week after and it all balances out over time. Once something starts running out, keep an eye out for an offer on a big pack. Saves a fortune over time compared with buying what you need week to week.

TheChosenTwo · 25/04/2021 11:19

I have a pack of 9 every week on my ‘regulars’ list of my online shop. Every now and then I notice the previous pack hasn’t been opened by the time my next shop is due so I remove it from the shopping. We have 3 toilets and so it’s harder to calculate it all but if I had to say, I’d guess at a roll per day. Family of 5, generally mostly out of the house during the week at work/school/college.

I live in a 2 up 2 down and I buy the 48 packs from who gives a crap! I keep them under the stairs.
EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 25/04/2021 13:34

One adult - a roll lasts between ten days and two weeks.
Who gives a crap suggested a box would last sixteen weeks - will be more like sixteen months; I cancelled the subscription.

KarmaViolet · 25/04/2021 14:00

I want to know what a bum gun is but afraid to google that! Grin

TheChosenTwo · 25/04/2021 14:02

I like the idea of the who gives a crap loo roll but would they fit on the spare toilet roll holder things? You know, the pole things? I’m not sure if I’m describing this properly Grin
They look like they’re individually wrapped in paper and might need unwrapping to store on the spare loo roll holder things?!

Yes you have to unwrap them to store them on the holders but that's not an issue. The ones you buy wrapped in plastic have to be taken out of the packet to put on the holder so there's no difference.
ZoeMaye · 25/04/2021 20:16

About 7 because no matter how much of the roll is used one of my DC will use the rest of the roll for their daily Poo

Bluntness100 · 25/04/2021 20:24

This thread made me laugh, which surprised me as I thought it would be a bit dull 😂

Can’t believe some folks use so little, four or five squares for a poo? 😱

We use about four to five rolls a week for two of us.

therocinante · 25/04/2021 20:44

There's 2 of us, maybe 2-3 a week?

MumofPsuedoAdult · 25/04/2021 20:47

2 adults - 1.5 a day. We're both full of crap Wink

Onedropbeat · 25/04/2021 20:48

2 adults and 1 child (other child in nappies) and approx 4 per week (could be 5 sometimes)

Riv · 25/04/2021 20:58

We use Who Gives a Crap and the rolls are longer than standard. I’ve just been working out our usage over the last few months (putting the date I change rolls on the inside of the cardboard tube).
I was quite surprised that with 2 adults one roll lasts between 9 and 11 days.
