How many loo rolls do you get through a week

Am I being unreasonable asking the above question.

I've just switched to a more expensive brand than my usual brand but it is more eco friendly. While working out if it is financially viable I was wondering how much loo roll everyone else goes through ?

We use a Lidl own brand, but not the cheapest one!
As to 'rationing' I usually use 2 squares for a wee, then 2 or 3 more for a 💩! I've actually had to encourage my 6 year old to use more, as she was tearing off one square for everything.
You really don't need a lot of it if it's thick enough.

PenfoldPenny · 23/04/2021 10:49

One adult, one teen household. We get through about one a week/every ten days. Tescos cheapest option.
Im clueless at why so many use so much loo roll (unless due to medical reasons)
We are going to switch to washable wipes for wees so that will reduce our loo roll usage even more.

LindaEllen · 23/04/2021 10:50

If my stepson is at home, about 100 rolls an hour. When he's at his mum's (we have custody) a roll can last a couple of weeks between me and DP.

TrixieFatell · 23/04/2021 10:56

3-4 a week, 2 adults and 3 children.

Hdiebfhs · 23/04/2021 11:10

I cant imagine one loo roll lasting a week !

I am going to try using less for a wee because currently I just wrap it around my hand.

stillcrazyafterall · 23/04/2021 11:20

3 adults - 1-2 a week

TheClumisestChildOfAll · 23/04/2021 11:25

1 roll every 2-3 days, I could probably cut that to 1 a week but DD won't use less no matter how many times I tell her to.

Just me and DD (age 6) using it though.

Zealois · 23/04/2021 11:26

Two adults and probably one a day to be honest? I'm not sure. We go through a lot. It's not something we've ever tried to ration or cut down on ha.

We're both working from home, and I have IBS so...

Bibidy · 23/04/2021 11:38

OMG don't, I tried to sign up to one of those toilet roll box subscriptions but had to cancel as my DP just rinses through toilet roll like there's no tomorrow.

There are 2 of us here most of the time and I'd say we go through one roll a day I reckon.

SpnBaby1967 · 23/04/2021 11:42

I think the cheap loo roll is a false economy. There inner tubes are always bigger and less tightly wrapped so much less loo roll. We go through twice as much with the cheap stuff.

I buy Cushelle in bulk from the supermarket and a 32 roll back will last almost 2 months.

PattyPan · 23/04/2021 12:34

I posted above that we use 2-3 rolls a fortnight for 2 adults - the brand we get is the recycled one from who gives a crap. I usually use 2 squares folded into three for a wee (more when on period obviously). Having a very high fibre diet also helps keep our usage low 😂

username12345T · 23/04/2021 12:42

Depends on the make. One roll lasts me about 10 days at the moment.

starbrightstarlight8888 · 23/04/2021 12:52

There are 5 people in my home and we go through a 9 pack a week roughly.

Cissyandflora · 23/04/2021 13:09

@skirk64

About six per week, per person. That's with supermarket own brand ones. If I get the Cushelle double rolls, it drops to about two or three per week, per person.

It is not the sort of question that will give you a useful answer though. Some people need a shit several times per day, others can go two or three days between them. Some people "wipe to beige" and others like me wipe until there's nothing left to wipe. And you have to factor in the size of the roll, the last Poundland pack I ever bought was good for about one shit per roll.

You have really made me lol
Proudboomer · 23/04/2021 13:10

5 adults, 3 bathrooms one of which is a disabled bathroom with a GoBidet and we get through a 9 pack of supermarkets own brand a week.

independentfriend · 23/04/2021 13:52

1-2 per week by myself. Varies depending on severity of IBS symptoms and heaviness of period.

TimeToGoOut · 23/04/2021 14:47

None. We use a bidet hose which can be attached to any toilet and then we dry with bamboo 'Cheeky wipes'. Wipes are then washed in machine as normal. So much nicer than toilet paper.

Ileflottante · 23/04/2021 14:51

About 15 a week across eight bathrooms.

RosesAndHellebores · 23/04/2021 14:53

With 4 adults at home during lockdown about 8/9 of a supermarket brand Shock. I was shocked to be honest. One has IBS!

When everyone's out and about, about 3/4!

Interestingly I have seen specialist drain people in our tiny road three times in the last year.

JaninaDuszejko · 23/04/2021 15:11

I always think the 'one sheet for a wee and two for a poo' crowd are either toilet trolls or have very dirty smelly underwear by the end of the day.

We have 3 bathrooms, 2 adults, 3 teenagers/older children and we average a 9 pack (Sainsbury's own brand recycled) a week. I've swapped to Bumboo (three times the price!) but the cardboard insert is bigger and the sheets are smaller and while it's possibly slightly thicker we seem to be going through it just as quickly. Pretty wrapping though (not sure individually wrapped is any better for the environment of course). We eat lots of fibre so there's lots of pooing and 3 periods a month (fans of the mooncup and period pants so we're doing OK there at least).

strivingtosucceed · 23/04/2021 15:22

I use one every two weeks, but I do take notice of how much roll i'm using. I know for a fact some people roll the paper around their hands 3/4 times per wipe and don't fold & reuse.

I also tried to time my number twos with when I'm having a shower.

ConcernedAuntie · 23/04/2021 15:44

Two adults, home all day at the moment. Use between 2 and 3 rolls a week.

Once had people to stay for a weekend, 2 adults, 1 x 6 year old. They got through 10 rolls. Happened to walk past the bathroom when BIL was in there - listening to the toilet roll spin round I think he must have wrapped his hand all the way to his armpit! When we stayed with them they had toilet rolls stacked to the ceiling in the bedroom where we were sleeping.

JiggedSpanner · 23/04/2021 15:59

I think this should be accompanied by how many poops people take in a day.

"Normal" is anything from 3 poops a day to 3 poops a week. Shock For a family of 4 that varies between 12 shits a week to 84 shits a week. Big difference.

Pedalpushers · 23/04/2021 16:17

2 adults, about 6 a week. I'm intolerant to fibre so my bowels do some unusual things.

PattyPan · 23/04/2021 16:20

I always think the 'one sheet for a wee and two for a poo' crowd are either toilet trolls or have very dirty smelly underwear by the end of the day.

I agree one sheet for a wee sounds extreme but I don’t think 2 for a poo is - mine almost always come out without leaving a trace so I can use one sheet just to confirm there’s nothing there iyswim. (And I go 1-2x a day).
