Derek Chauvin found guilty of all charges ,this is the right verdict imo,having watched the trial

Its the legal verdict. He killed George Floyd, 2nd degree murder is correct.

I'm not very familiar with US law. How can he be convicted of several counts of murder for the same act? I thought that here, someone would be either guilty of murder or manslaughter, but not both. How can he be guilty of all three? Will he receive sentences for all 3, or just the most severe one?

The right verdict but I can't help but wonder (although I know nothing of US justice system) if the comments by the president and other prominent figures that he was guilty before it was decided by the jury, could be used for an appeal in that it wasn't a fair trial.
Hopefully not but I was shocked to read that the comments had been made before the verdict.
He decided that day that he was judge, jury and executioner so now has to face the consequences of that.

The verdict was never in any doubt.
US legal system will see appeal after appeal. Unfortunately the notoriety of the case gives quite good grounds for appeals.

I've been looking at the statistics and police violence in the states seems to be rampant. There have been 316 killings by police in the USA this year so far. 112 started as a traffic violation/stop.
The few criminal charge/convictions or even reprimands for these deaths is shocking.
How do they ever change such a broken system?
Will the general population ever see the like between gun ownership and police use of excessive force?
How do police services world wide disassociate themselves from their behaviour?

There are issues in the uk but GF would still be alive if he lived here.

The comments were made while the jury was sequestered. Biden made it clear that he would not have made his comments if that was not the case.

The remarks were made after the jury were sequestered. They wouldn't have heard any of the public statements. That was a deliberate act by the president and others. They aren't that stupid.

The murder is on camera. Had they acquitted him, it would have been mayhem. Personally, I hope the punishment will fit the crime.

Will this be a turning point in convicting police of civilian murders in the US? In the past fortnight there's been a few more cases of the police shooting dead people.

Does the US police force needs to tighten up their selection processes? Something has gone badly wrong with the police particularly in the US.

Thought the judge was going to declare a mis trial at one point. There will be appeal after appeal ...

Neither George Floyd nor Sheku Bayoh were carrying a knife when approached by the police. So you're essentially using an incorrect assumption to justify smothering a man to death Do you really believe that's how the justice system should work?

Sheku was carrying a knife hence why the police came.

George floyd should not have died, but doubt about it.
