Is there anything that really shouldn't make you annoyed or that you hate but don't know why? I'll start, I hate those long coats that look like sleeping bags! I know its ridiculous to be annoyed by a coat, but... also people who talk into their phones but don't hold them to their ear. Aaaargh.

People saying "Im not being mean but......" You just know that what comes next will be mean and just doesnt need to be said. The same with "Im not racist but........." Emm, yes you are.

^This for me as well. Another one I really hate (irrationally, I suppose) is ‘I’m not being funny, but..,’. What does it even mean???

seensome · 21/04/2021 09:58

Watching make up tutorials on YouTube when they use a high end foundation only to slather a cheap concealer over the top.

People that walk backwards with a trolley in the supermarket or leave the trolley in the middle of the aisle while reaching in front of you to grab something off the shelf.

Being asked how are you? by a stranger then you feel like you must say how are you back.

Someone said up the thread, people that wear black shoes with blue jeans, sorry that was me Grin

Mittens030869 · 21/04/2021 10:01

People who talk about "me and husband (hubby!!) are going to .. instead of My husband and I. Tautology: Personally, I - or even worse: Personally, I myself!! Mystifying in the extreme.

I also hate it when people say, ‘my husband and I’ as the object of the sentence. For example, ‘They’re coming to stay with my husband and I.’ It isn’t even grammatically correct. You wouldn’t say, ‘They’re coming to stay with I,’ would you? It should be ‘DH and me’ in that context.

Grrr! But I guess it makes me a pedant!! Grin

Heartofglass12345 · 21/04/2021 10:56

I'm sure this isn't irrational, but people calling someone Karen when they disagree with something they have said!! Boring and overused and has never been funny!! (No my name isn't Karen lol)

People who say oh I've had a lovely day out (at the beach, zoo, whatever), and all their pictures are just selfies

People who post selfies where they aren't looking, as if they are pretending someone else took the photo but you can see their arm. I think I just have something against selfies Grin

Agreed. Or people who say “x place was beautiful!” And the pics are all of the pool or the hotel. They could be anywhere. Also like to see unposed pics instead of very stiff people stood in a line holding in their bellies and grinning their best FB grin.

Overuse of some phrases on MN, especially the put downs 'I'm embarassed for you' and 'Ask someone you trust to explain it to you'.
Its the irony of someone thinking they're superior, yet not having the wit to think of something original.
Also the use of 'vile' to describe anything remotely displeasing.
I'm not very keen on salt and vinegar pringles either.
Or Northern Soul.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 21/04/2021 11:23

Littering
Ppl not picking up dog poo
Mimes
Those ppl who pose as statues and spray paint themselves silver (like Nessa on Gavin and Stacy) but I love Nessa
Ppl who use "myself" incorrectly
Caramel salted anything

Mittens030869 · 21/04/2021 11:23

@Heartofglass12345

Yes, re the ‘Karen’ thing. My DD1 (12) has discovered that meme recently on you-tube. Ouch!! I’ve tried to nip it in the bud; I asked her how she would feel if her name was used in that way.

HeyDemonsItsYaGirl · 21/04/2021 11:26

Coffin-shaped fake nails. They look fucking awful even though it's none of my business!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 21/04/2021 11:26

*Just realised first 2 probably not irrational but just came home from dog walk and I am cross

Judithand · 21/04/2021 12:03

People who give advice when it’s not asked for - especially with new babies.

People who leave 2 minute voice notes - you wouldn’t text that amount so why do I have to listen? Get to the point!

People who park in disabled bays who do not have a valid permit

LoudNowSing · 21/04/2021 12:44

People who dress, imo, too warmly for the weather. For example, it's 20 degrees and they're wearing a winter coat, scarf, and gloves. Doesn't affect me in any way whatsoever but really fucks me off for some reason.

We were at Disney, Florida in August a few years ago. It was probably about 35 degrees most days and some people at the park had puffer coats on and woolly hats! Bonkers! I felt faint and overheated just looking at them!
BListOrMaybeEvenZList · 21/04/2021 12:56

The Karen thing annoys me too. And now Stacey Solomon has started calling people 'Susans' too if they disagree with her. Actually I find Stacey Solomon very annoying too.

Amdone123 · 21/04/2021 13:05

Victoria Beckham.

Workvans or any motorist really parking on the pavement, so I have to walk on the road. Several workmen observed me doing this yesterday. Had they apologised, it may have placated me ( somewhat), but that sense of entitlement really annoys me.

I'm a bit like that about people who dress too cold for the weather - not an issue right now obviously, but some people insist on wearing short-sleeved t-shirts, short skirts, and no coat in the middle of winter! I realize that some people are just 'warmer' or 'colder' than others; but I also think that some people are totally oblivious to the the season/ weather, especially in England where you can often get away with it (ignore winter somewhere like Canada, and you'd soon freeze to death!)

Oh YES - argh! And it's not even just workvans.

DD1, totally agree with you on this. I hate it when there is any sign of sunshine no matter the actual temperature you see people out in thin short-sleeved or sleeveless tops and shorts. Especially men in those long, soft, grey loose shorts. Have to strictly remind myself not my business what others wear and I don't have to look if they feel comfortable. But, but it does make my skin prickle in sympathy as I do feel cold most of the time and have a thing about air brushing my arms.
CounsellorTroi · 21/04/2021 23:18

I'm another one who is annoyed by people out in skimpy summer clothing the second there is a hint of warmth in the early spring sunshine. And as for people sunbathing on the beaches in swimwear in April, words fail me. It's spring folks, not summer.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 21/04/2021 23:39

When a driver slows down to let you cross the road when it would be easier to just drive past and let you cross after. I appreciate they may be being courteous and aware of pedestrians which is obviously good, but I always feel awkward and just want to cross in my own time

Absolutely this! And it’s not safe. You need to check every direction for yourself, not just go on their say so. It’s difficult to teach a child to cross the road if they do this!

Heartofglass12345 · 21/04/2021 23:42

I've thought of another one, people who put bows around their babies heads! And those stupid teething necklaces. Especially young babies where there is a risk of them dying! But the bows just look ridiculous i think lol

Blondiney · 22/04/2021 00:52

People walking around clutching coffees as though it’s some kind of life giving elixir. It’s a hot beverage FFS, nothing more.

AbstractExpressionist · 22/04/2021 02:52

Nigel Farage.
Fucking hate him!

I don’t know... My morning cup of tea gives me enough life to go about my day. Maybe it is an elixir. Grin

Those loose advertising leaflets that come in magazines and get in the way! Straight into the recycling. Also those long fabric loop things in clothing (apparently used to help hang them up on hangers) - they need to be cut off ASAP as they also get in the way!
