Fantasising about a fictional character!!

I need your help and to know if I am a complete lunatic and BVU or if this is something that happens to other people.

I have always had a very overactive imagination and have a tendancy to daydream but this is the first time (in adulthood anyway) that I have developed a full on obsession with a fictional character. Not the actor who plays this character, but the character himself! Last night I found myself googling this character and falling into the rabbit hole of the Internet and finding reams of erotic fan fiction. I am ashamed to say I found myself still awake at 2am after reading through tons these short stories call me niave but I had no idea this stuff existed before! I feel such a dork!

Am I abnormal? What does this say about this verging on middle-aged married mother? My marriage and sex life are good, I love my husband and find him very attractive, I don't feel depressed or lonely. What is going on?!

You are not the only one trust me. I have one myself too. Happily engaged, fiancé treats me like a queen and if this fictional character was standing at my doorstep I would still choose my fiancé. I do feel a little better now buying a written love confession letter from my fictional character (i did check with fiancé if he would be hurt by me doing so)

Although for me, that would be him as the Sheriff of Nottingham rather than as Snape in the Harry Potter films. (Although I do like him I’m every film I’ve seen him in.)

Severus is not conventionally attractive at all (not to mention a bit of a bastard) but for me it's the dark broody angstyness, the voice, the clothes, the whole look and weirdly his hands (don't ask). And I find the fact that he is ridiculously intelligent, sarcastic and dry incredibly sexy!

Each to their own though. I've never been attracted to conventionally attractive men, or men of my own age come think of it! 😁😂

I have my own little fantasy world involving a particular character, I wouldn't give him up for anything. It does not harm anyone, and the actor that plays him is lovely but I only love him as his character!

It started with the book character, and completely compounded when they cast AR as him in the films. I imagined him differently at first when I was reading the books, and usually I'm disappointed when they make a film and the movie version of the character is lame. But most def not the case with the HP movies.
Although I do think part of his nastiness was lost in the films in comparison with books Snape.

But I'll cope!

I do this frequently. I get into my own head far too much and the internet does not help!
I've accepted that I am like this and it will happen from time to time. My solution is to make sure I take time away and spend time with friends and family. It happens more when I've been alone too long or have been able to get myself into it. Covid life doesn't help!
