Need a new, bigger car.
Love the Qashqai, but have heard not great things re reliability. It's what I would ideally buy.
It's that or a Kia Sportage.
Am I really setting myself up for a lot of bills with a Nissan? Or should I still to the more boring but more reliable Kia (which has the balance of a 7 year warranty)?

Both slightly ghastly cars that slightly worry me if I come out of a shop and find myself to one in a car park. People think they project an air of lifestyle but for me they're the new C-Max or Picasso, just in "I can see out higher up and save my back loading the kids" format 
Back on topic, what gearbox - manual or auto? Beware of the auto gearboxes in the Qashqai depending on the year you're buying. CVT auto gearbox has issues with the bearings, the fluids, can lead to big bills as Nissan don't consider it warrantable or so I hear.

Buy whatever car you like if you can afford it, why would it be unreasonable?
Do posters not know that you don't have to phrase every single issue as an AIBU?
Why not post in the cars topic and ask for the views of knowledgeable posters or even chat and ask for owner experiences?
I genuinely think that a lot of posters think this topic is all there is

Kia and Hyundai are made in the same factory and different badges are put on them, at least that was what I was told when I looked at two cars in both showrooms and they felt identical. Smaller car than the Sportage though.

Actually @Ginuwine sometimes you have a husband who is 6'3" and you sit in lots of cars to find out if he can lift his foot off the clutch without banging his knee on the steering wheel or that he has room for his leg and it won't get trapped between the built up centre console and the steering wheel.
If the car has a sunroof, forget it. The slightly lowered ceiling line to accommodate the mechanism means his head is touching the ceiling. Even when you manage to find this car after sitting in 25 "family" cars in one of those places that sells all sorts of cars and he has the seat in a position where he can drive, there is no room behind the seat in the back of the car for a passenger to sit without their legs being trapped.
We have teenage sons, the shortest one is 5'10" the other is 6' and still growing. We have to consider whether there is room for their heads not to touch the sloping roof line in the back of the car as Dh's car is the family car. Mine is the Hyndai but I usually only have 1 child with me and they are in the front.
We have had to discount VW Tiguan, BMWs, Ford EcoSport, CMax, to name some I can remember. When I met and fell in love with Dh 25 years ago I didn't realise shopping for clothes, ordering shoes into shops for his huge feet or car buying would be problematic
We have had the Sportage for a few years and love it. I cannot remember why we chose it over the Qashqai. Might have been the 7 year warranty.
