A current discussion taking place in my house.

After catching a stream on youtube it was brought up with people incredulous that some people do/dont face the shower head when showering.

I laughed to my friend that i face away like normal people and started WW3 because of course she faces the shower...

What do you do? Is it different depending where you are and where soap etc is stored.. how has this taken up so much of my head space tonight??

AIBU - Face the shower head YANBU- Face away from the shower head

i had this question once, and i was worried since i answered it incorrectly.

nitsandwormsdodger · 10/04/2021 16:13

Face in for body wash
face away for hair wash

AbsolutelyPatsy · 10/04/2021 16:13

yup, i turn around in the shower

longtompot · 10/04/2021 16:14

I face the shower head when I wash my hair, I have my head upside down, but face away when washing me.

FlyingBurrito · 10/04/2021 16:15

Have you asked this before? I'm sure I read this thread recently or is there some kind of shower troll on the boards Grin

Bellabelloo · 10/04/2021 16:16

I face the shower head apart from when I'm washing shampoo out of my hair. It never crossed my mind other people would do the opposite!

We have a waterfall and sliding shower head, OH says the waterfall not as powerful as he likes. DS sits in bath and lets waterfall over him for hours until I bash on the door. I face forward and back depending on which bit I am soaping or rinsing. Also detach shower head to do private bits and rinse off around tiles and shower screen. Not keen on waterfall either but I am in and out like a ninja not one for zoning out in a long shower.

Both, I face away when washing my hair and rhen when rinsing it then face it when washing my body and rinsing it. I don’t understand how you can rinse your body properly if you don’t face it.
Exactly this.
Gwenhwyfar · 10/04/2021 16:26

"No. The water totally misses my entire front. 50% of my body stays dry... hmm"

This is what I don't get. I've never had a power shower or anything and am different to most MNers in finding that I can be cold while taking a shower, but even my sub-standard showers get the whole of me wet no matter which way I'm facing!

TheWaif · 10/04/2021 16:28

@gamerchick

I try my best to face. I can cream the front of me comfortably afterwards, I find hot water dries my back which makes it itchy as I can't cream it easily iyswim?

Naturally I want to face away though.

Cream?!
CheeseCakeSunflowers · 10/04/2021 16:28

Face shower whilst soaping my back, turn and rinse my back whilst soaping my front, turn and rinse my front. Detach shower head and shoot water into armpits and between legs. Done.

PattyPan · 10/04/2021 16:29

I face the shower head to wash my front and away to wash my hair and back Confused

Same. And the water doesn't get in my face because the angle of the showerhead and the distance I stand from it, works properly. I'm short. I don't know if that helps?
LizB62A · 10/04/2021 16:31

Both !

CuntyMcBollocks · 10/04/2021 16:34

Both. Depends what part of my body I'm washing.

Staffy1 · 10/04/2021 16:38

I always face the shower. Didn't know anyone didn't.

I’m glad it’s not just me, creaming yourself has a very different connotation where I’m from Grin

Lullaby88 · 10/04/2021 16:40

I have a detachable shower head so i just manouvre it where it needs to go and give my whole body a thorough clean.

SimonJT · 10/04/2021 16:40

Both, I stand back a bit when I face the shower head so it isn’t spraying me in the face.

My partner showering frustrates me, he gets in the shower and then turns it on so he is showering in freezing cold water for at least 30 seconds, the controls are placed so you don’t have to get wet when you turn the shower on. It really really irritates me, why would you choose to do that?

CounsellorTroi · 10/04/2021 16:43

Both. Face the shower to wash my hair and front, away to wash back and bum.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/04/2021 16:45

I would drown if I faced it. Grin

Badabingbadabum · 10/04/2021 16:50

Away. I briefly turn around to wash my face (separate washing in the sink is just a distant pre-children memory) but I'm not happy about it. I like the water on my hair and back, not splashing all over my face.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 10/04/2021 16:50

I keep turning around because the other side gets cold.
