Literally having one of those days. Talk talk is down in my area so I'm ploughing through mobile data. But literally EVERYTHING I'm trying to order is out of stock and it's driving me mad! I'm trying to find garden furniture, a bin store, a new rug, clothes for my daughter - it goes on and on!!

Just ranting!!!!!

Chinese and eastern imports will be affected by Brexit because they don't just leave China and rock up at portsmouth. Most cargo goes to Rotterdam and then redistributed from there.

Itsalonghaul · 09/04/2021 19:49

*age not intelligence obvs!

whenwillthemadnessend · 09/04/2021 19:49

What cat food is out ? I've had no issue with my brand.

ivfbeenbusy · 09/04/2021 19:50

@1forAll74

My son gave me a lift to the Pets at Home store yesterday, he bought all his dog stuff, but most of the cat food shelves were empty. Not just the usual Whiskas and Felix. but all the other expensive brands as well. ( my three cats are annoyed now ! )

We were notified of this a few weeks ago.....it's due to covid shut downs of cat/dog food factories

22user1497207191 I did read that copy and paste, no source information or context. Thanks.

MorganKitten · 09/04/2021 19:59

This is what happens when a royal dies, why are you surprised?

Shezlon · 09/04/2021 19:59

@Luckyelephant1

I just want an outdoor egg chair but there are NONE
In our local garden centre yesterday they had single and double ones. V. expensive but might be worth trying
TheCanyon · 09/04/2021 20:00

The Argos out of stock thing is the funniest. Trying to get dd new blinds and curtains. None available online, only one store 400 miles away.

GCAcademic · 09/04/2021 20:03

Well, at least the Project Fear scenario of everything costing more after Brexit hasn't come to pass because there is nothing available to buy

SpiderinaWingMirror · 09/04/2021 20:06

I want a medium dog crate. No declines chance

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 09/04/2021 20:07

That's gorgeous, TheOrigRight, really elegant. I hope you get hold of it soon.

You mean all the mourners have bought my Uniqlo dress?
blueangel19 · 09/04/2021 20:08

I must be lucky then. We have not issues so far. Several deliveries today.

Awww, you're a sweet stranger on the internet Smile Thank you.
Halloweenrainbow · 09/04/2021 20:10

Same! I've got 23 items in an Argos trolly but only 2 items are actually available!

Lougle · 09/04/2021 20:11

Bin store in stock at Robert Days

Doris86 · 09/04/2021 20:15

@LemonRoses

It’s what people voted for, sadly.
It has more to do with that ship getting stuck and blocking the Suez Canal actually. But never let the facts get in the way of an opportunity to knock Brexit.
masterofthechef · 09/04/2021 20:20

think what most people mean is the actual specific thing they want is out of stock having been impacted by the challenges in the supply chain, from raw material availability and cost, transport availability and cost. Add to that as the sensible PPs have stated people have been doing up their homes and gardens way outstripping normal demand compounded with the supply chain issues, covid restrictions, etc.
A quick glance through some websites, from PP comments, John Lewis has 44 dishwashers in stock from £229 , AO have 73 dishwashers in stock, and have had no issue finding other items, maybe people need to broaden their choice of store and product.

dohdohdoh · 09/04/2021 20:21

Totally! I found this with trying to buy a dining table and chairs.

And garden furniture (I actually posted on Mumsnet about ridiculously long delivery times e.g. 21 weeks - basically 6 months!!)

And particularly John Lewis stock, everything in out of stock but still pictured on the site - so annoying when you like something and realise it's not in stock!

And this was all before that ship got stuck in the Suez.

LookItsMeAgain · 09/04/2021 20:21

@btwwhichonespink - In what way does Brexit affect the availability of stock on Argos's website? Other than a day or two delay at Dover or Calais, I can't see how it can be held responsible for Argos's poor stock control system, which has been the same for years.

Well what with Dover being in the UK and no longer part of the EU free trade area, and Calais being in France and in the EU and in the free trade area, there would be more than a one or two day delay in getting items from mainland Europe to the UK.

I'm curious though in relation to the items that the previous poster is looking to order from Argos - have you tried to find them on the Argos.ie website? I'd genuinely be very interested to find out if they are available in Ireland but not in the UK.

cyclingmad · 09/04/2021 20:23

The Evergiven debacle hasn't helped either with lots of deliveries stuck on boats!

But no its still brexits fault 🙄 and to think brexiters were labelled stupid and not intelligent

Postdatedpandemic · 09/04/2021 20:26

@Doris86 how fast do you think ships move?
Suez stuff will be the cause of delays from end of next week and after.

RedToothBrush · 09/04/2021 20:27

Garden furniture isn't a Brexit thing. Demand is through the roof and there is a problems with containers being out of place due to covid which have pushed prices of shipping from china (where a lot of stock is manufactured) to astronomical levels. This hasn't been helped by the Suez problem.

Other things are due to Brexit to a degree, but Garden Furniture definitely can't simply be blamed on it.

XingMing · 09/04/2021 20:28

MrsGeneHunt, buy local regularly. My dog's food has never been oos. The answer/cure for pandemic supply issues is BUY LOCAL.
