Literally having one of those days. Talk talk is down in my area so I'm ploughing through mobile data. But literally EVERYTHING I'm trying to order is out of stock and it's driving me mad! I'm trying to find garden furniture, a bin store, a new rug, clothes for my daughter - it goes on and on!!

Just ranting!!!!!

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER

If it’s down to Brexit, why are the supermarkets still full of Dutch and Spanish fruit and salad stuff, Danish bacon and butter, French cheese, etc.?
Because the UK has still not brought in proper import controls

if that stuff was not there the shops would be VERY empty

Beccatheboo · 10/04/2021 17:55

Morrison’s shelves were noticeably empty today. No broccoli or peppers to be had; no Lucozade (co-op down to a couple of bottles).

Yespresh · 10/04/2021 17:56

Egg chairs are really uncomfortable. Bought one on eBay for £126 and sold it on for £300. So uncomfortable to sit in but they look good.

Rainbowsparkle · 10/04/2021 18:00

Don’t know how the hell she managed to get 4. I was online from 5 constantly refreshing. So frustrating. Need to put a 1 per person limit

MarinPrime · 10/04/2021 18:09

And olive oil. There were warnings of a great olive oil shortage but there's still plenty and prices haven't gone up.

Gembie · 10/04/2021 18:13

We should have had a free standing bath fitted second week of Feb. Still waiting - no drivers to deliver it via Europe due to covid + Brexit border regulations. It’s probably now stuck in the Suez backlog....

Ickle37 · 10/04/2021 18:14

I live in the EU and there is nothing here either. No beds, no wooden garden furniture. It's nothing to do with Brexit. Its the pandemic and i believe that the US has nabbed a lot of Scandinavian wood ( as they fell out with Canada on some wood deal), so stocks are really low. Also, nothing that is sold in UK shops is available here at the best of times...

StartingGrid · 10/04/2021 18:17

@Mushypeasandchipstogo you will have to link your AIBU thread here if it does go as you anticipate Wink

Easilyannoyed · 10/04/2021 18:22

@LemonRoses

It’s what people voted for, sadly.
What? A global pandemic? 🙄🙄 .... Oh, I see, you think the garden furniture, rug etc from China and elsewhere is Asia is delayed because of Brexit. 🙄
ListeningQuietly · 10/04/2021 18:31

COVID is an issues
but the UK's Brexit vote has caused export trade to be seriously impacted
and a lack of backloads is limiting imports

When the rest of the world settles down over the summer
the impacts will be easier to separate

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 10/04/2021 18:37

I’m not sure what’s going on.

Is it the Suez carry on? Brexit?

Whatever, I’m getting hacked off with “Leave your email and we’ll come back to you”.

Tas1984 · 10/04/2021 18:41

Wow all the dramatics on here blaming everything on brexit. I’m glad we left and I’m proud of how far we’ve come in terms of the vaccine.

Umbivalent · 10/04/2021 18:43

Honestly, buying garden furniture/accessories this year is like trying to buy a bike last year. Everybody wants stuff to make their garden nice atm, they can't go away on holiday and it's the only place they can entertain.

Groovee · 10/04/2021 18:49

It’s taken me a year to get garden furniture. Managed to get the Aldi one last week and it’s due in the next week.

Now I can’t get paint.

Lovaduck74 · 10/04/2021 18:57

@Wbeezer

Rather randomly i have tried for shops looking for delicates/woollens washing liquid, cant get it anywhere. I noticed no gaps on shelves and am wondering if it's part of the range reduction a lot of supermarkets are doing getting rid of less popular products, youngsters don't tend to buy actual woollen jumpers these days...
I use baby shampoo for wool and silk items. Seems to do the trick....although I have more wool items than silk you understand 🤣
Plumedenom · 10/04/2021 19:00

Our of stocks are abounding over here in Europe too. Can't get a bike for love nor money. It's partly Coronavirus and partly the Suez episode.

ListeningQuietly · 10/04/2021 19:06

It's partly Coronavirus and partly the Suez episode.
It is NOT the Suez Episode
That ship would not have arrived in Rotterdam until late last week.
The stuff on it and on the ships behind it
was not due in shops till the very end of April
ANYWHERE in Europe

COVID causing worldwide container mash ups : definitely
Brexit adding to COVID since January : absolutely

Cos1970 · 10/04/2021 19:07

I managed to get some from Sainsbury’s a few weeks back, everywhere else had no stock!

DenisetheMenace · 10/04/2021 19:08

Brexit and a container ship stuck in the Suez. It was only there for a few days but it was reported that the backlog at receiving ports would take months to sort out. Most of the things you mentioned are shipped in by container.

notagainmummy · 10/04/2021 19:09

Of course its nothing to do with a pandemic which has closed factories, halted production and caused untold economic damage to the world.
if most garden furniture and the things listed are made in china, then what has brexit got to do with anything?

worldwide shortages and disruption. The world isn't just Europe and the EU you know.

notagainmummy · 10/04/2021 19:10

But keep banging the Brexit drum just for the believers

Mojoj · 10/04/2021 19:10

@Tas1984 I feel sorry for you living in your wee Imperialistic bubble. Sad.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 10/04/2021 19:37

Everything I want is in stock including the specific teashirts I like from cotton traders which is a miracle. I'm not sure what it is that you lot are buying!!!!

canigooutyet · 10/04/2021 19:45

Gave up with Argos a couple of years ago. Amazes me it's still in business. Either stuff was out of stock but could deliver at a cost. Then a case of chasing them up because dates would come and go to be told, oh yea it's out of stock.

ClaraSais · 10/04/2021 19:55

We have TalkTalk, they’re rubbish!
Why not check eBay and Facebook marketplace, usually some really good stuff
