EVERYTHING is "out of stock"

Literally having one of those days. Talk talk is down in my area so I'm ploughing through mobile data. But literally EVERYTHING I'm trying to order is out of stock and it's driving me mad! I'm trying to find garden furniture, a bin store, a new rug, clothes for my daughter - it goes on and on!!

Just ranting!!!!!

Certain posters on here jump in and blame brexit straight away forgetting a pandemic , a boat stuck and the fact that most years things are out of stock quite a lot , yes argos especially you
I am trying go buy a bin store as well and its made in uk and seld out fast , have finally got one now, but spending is up on things like garden furniture
After all its the only place we can go for a few weeks

poorbuthappy · 10/04/2021 07:30

We bought garden furniture from Amazon. Was delivered in 3 days

worriedatthemoment · 10/04/2021 07:34

There is plenty of garden furniture in b&m and the range so brexit must not affect them
If you want a certain piece then yes maybe out of stock, next often have long waits on furniture and always have done
Like dfs and sofas they are often made to order so you wait yet someone would blame brexit for that now on here
Its tiresome and companies who do good business with the uk will figure the paperwork like they do when they ship around the world and like china manages
Those that export a few bits will likely not bother as not worth it
Like many companies don't shop abroad even pre brexit as it wasn't complexly paperless despite what many think

worriedatthemoment · 10/04/2021 07:37

Also our local garden centres also have garden furniture and they are open

fairburn · 10/04/2021 07:37

@Horehound

Yes we are waiting three months for a dishwasher.

Yay Brexit Hmm

I waited a whole 24 hours for mine. You're looking in the wrong places.

But let's not pass up an opportunity to make everything about brexit

ItsSoFanny · 10/04/2021 07:42

Yes, lots of things are out of stock. Brexit, Covid and even climate change are the root of it, and everything has a ripple effect. This article (from an art supplies website I use) is quite eye-opening.

www.jacksonsart.com/blog/2021/04/01/why-the-delay-explaining-out-of-stock-items/

worriedatthemoment · 10/04/2021 07:58

@fairburn exactly everything is being blamed on it even if they have no idea and its not like we have never waited ever before for things prior to brexit
I waited weeks in sept for an order finally got in jan, coming from far east
Things that normally turn around in 7 days no brexit to blame then

jasjas1973 · 10/04/2021 08:30

@worriedatthemoment Sure, CV makes things far worse but how come i can go on line and see things with immediate delivery in Europe/US but out of stock in the UK ?
With many EU shops saying "not available to ship to UK" so the demand on UK suppliers has increased/price rises.

China/Asia has been out of LD for many months now

Good news is more EU shops are know shipping to UK, albeit with increased charges but at least its available.

You know that NI is experiencing huge shortages of certain goods? with lorries facing, on avg 4hrs of extra delay, these delays are also at all other exit/entry points UK/EU, exporters are even shipping via the mainland and missing out the UK altogether.

Yes Suez caused short term problems.

But it is simply not possible to leave the SM/CU overnight, with zero planning and a crappy deal and expect no issues, it will take years to get back to anything like what we had before and even that wont happen if the UK/EU keep at each others throats as they are atm.

CaesarsDream · 10/04/2021 08:37

Argos has always had issues with stock. I wouldn't be surprised if they go bust very soon.

Despite being frustrated by the stock shortages such as kids clothing, cat food and garden furniture; it's about time we got used to living sustainably and rid ourselves of instant gratification and consumerism.

It's really shortsighted to blame it all on Brexit. I say that as a Remainer.

mum2jakie · 10/04/2021 08:39

@ConeHat

The problem.i have had for months is getting bigger sizes of boys school trousers. Sainsbury's has been out of stock for months as the last time I saw any was during the last 25% off.

Thank God for second hand and hand me downs.

@ConeHat try M&S for bigger school trousers. Was the only place I could find them
jasjas1973 · 10/04/2021 08:56

@XingMing

I only buy milk bread and ham from local companies. I am fortunate to have agency and money to do so. Should I be apologising?
Lol who is shamelessly "showboating" now @XingMing ?
SecretSpAD · 10/04/2021 08:58

Well there must have been a surge in people adopting elderly cats because I’m having trouble getting Felix Senior.

And I'm struggling to buy my dogs specialist diabetic dog food -doubt all those new puppies need that!

worriedatthemoment · 10/04/2021 09:00

@jasjas1973 and its something we have to learn to accept and get on with
We can ask for changes in some ways but we can't go back
Heaven forbid someone can't get the furniture set the next day that they want and have to get another
Bitching and moaning and still people calling people who voted brexit idiots etc really doesn't help anyone does it, other than make some feel superior in some way
Accept it , people start accepting others can have a different opinion as doesn't make them stupid etc
New deals will be made and things will move on , in short term write to your mp to highlight problems
Funny I don't hear to many in eu moaning they are struggling getting things from the uk now
There are numerous threads complaining about import charges on things like fine arts , did these intelligent people not expect that then as brexit hasn't happened overnight , we were never going to accept freedom of movement and that would only way to stay in customs union so all this was expected surely by all these supposedly more intelligent voters
I voted remain but I accept it and move on , I rarely buy from europe or abroad full stop so it doesn't affect me and same as many others but i knee it would likely happen until new trade deals are struck and knew it would take couple years before we find a balance

mustlovegin · 10/04/2021 09:03

New deals will be made and things will move on

Yes

jasjas1973 · 10/04/2021 09:22

@worriedatthemoment

Calling people idiots? why have you inferred i did that? 'cause i never have, not on this thread or any other.

we were never going to accept freedom of movement and that would only way to stay in customs union so all this was expected surely by all these supposedly more intelligent voters

Did you really vote remain? lol

The CU has nothing whatsoever to do with FOM, thats the SM.

As for new FTA's? there isn't a FTA on this planet that gives anything like the access tht the UK previously enjoyed.
even the Japan/Canada deals with EU, still involve customs checks and non tariff barriers.... just as ours does.

Where i do agree is that CV has also caused supply issues, its not all Brexit.

Wbeezer · 10/04/2021 09:26

@Proudboomer sadly we don't seem to have Wikos in Scotland (at least I've never seen one). I'll probably be able to find some when i can leave my tiny county in a couple of weeks but its not something I've ever had to hunt down before.

worriedatthemoment · 10/04/2021 09:57

@jasjas1973 i never said you did , i clearly referred to other posts
No you can't be in cu without accepting freedom of movement , who else has that access ?

worriedatthemoment · 10/04/2021 10:02

@jasjas1973 I also know what i voted but I can also understand why many voted the other way as well , so many who don't understand live in a very different reality to
Many people sat in their middle class surbaban house and not understanding the issues that many face and why some voted leave
Its also not paperless to eu and lots of paperwork was required before as well granted more is needed but the eu also involved paperwork
And neither you or I know what deals can be made and who may be the ones we trade with , I think to ignore the rest of the world and only assume the eu have anything to offer is also short sighted , plus in the future further deals can be made with the eu as well

worriedatthemoment · 10/04/2021 10:03

@mum2jakie next had older boys trousers in, bit more pricey but were in stock when I ordered last week

ForgedInFire · 10/04/2021 10:04

I made a basket of clothes for my children on H&M and waited a couple of days until I was paid. By that time almost all of it was out of stock! I thought it was just that time of year and the couple of hot days we had prompting everyone to buy summer clothes but I didn't realise the problem was more widespread

worriedatthemoment · 10/04/2021 10:06

@jasjas1973 tbf as well the uk haven't been at the eu throat , they haven't made certain remarks of late like some in the eu
They have actually not said too much at all lately a lot more has been coming from just a couple in the eu and a couple of european leaders, many european leaders haven't even agreed what is being said.
Anyone who thought there wouldn't be some short term issues I think was deluded

worriedatthemoment · 10/04/2021 10:07

Shops open monday if there empty then maybe people will have more of a point, bit I don't think thats likely

worriedatthemoment · 10/04/2021 10:07

In england sorry not sure on scotland and wales

Mojoj · 10/04/2021 10:09

I blame the English for voting for Brexit. Ha ha just thought I'd stir the potSmile

Dollygirl2008 · 10/04/2021 10:19

Crikey - had no idea that so many people were experiencing similar issues!!!

We'll rest easy - I've managed to find a rug AND find some shorts aged 15 although I've had to pay three times as much Hmm

Now, I wonder if anywhere had any pepperoni.... yup - I was told that there is a pepperoni shortage due to Brexit Grin
