Do your DC wear clean (matching optional) PJs every night?

I'm a little bit ott about it but for me they have to match and must be fresh every night but after another thread about laundry and a discussion with DP apparently I'm weird??

YABU ... You can wear PJs for a few nights (shudder)

YANBU ... clean, fresh, matching PJs every night!

Absolutely herc, the idea that water being freely available means we can waste it, is totally off and tbh shows a misunderstanding around energy/resource conservation. That's not how it works.

Absolutely, this generation will really see the result of this.
HeyGirlHeyBoy · 10/04/2021 13:12

Seriously, I'm gobsmacked by that belief!!

thebillyotea · 10/04/2021 13:17

That's the point, you think basic hygiene is "wasting" water. I completely disagree.

You can't seriously water your garden and moan about my laundry.

thebillyotea · 10/04/2021 13:19
@thebillyotea It isn't basic hygiene to have clean pjs every night. This thread has shown that. Showering every day isn't necessary either, bits and pits wash is fine.

Water may be "easily" available in this country, doesn't mean its not wasteful to use it excessively though.
that thread hasn't shown anything else than people having different opinion.

Or that people are generally dirty, whichever you prefer.

timeisnotaline · 10/04/2021 13:23

@LivingMyBestLife2020

I can’t believe you all sleep in PJs! My mum always told us you must air your bits at night. I always sleep naked as does my toddler ( his choice) but I wear PJs in the evening, change every 3rd day
So you change into pjs in the evening... then you change OUT of them to actually go to bed?!! I didn’t think this thread could come up with anything more gobsmacking than clean pjs every single night. Grin Agree on the comments re waste, I try and only wash things that need it. (But of course pjs must match, I fully own up to that one. It’s never occurred to me that someone could randomly pair up trousers from one set and a top from another and wear it)
newmumwithquestions · 10/04/2021 13:23

I’m definitely not mumsnet clean on a lot of things. But 2 threadworm incidents on and I’m in the clean pyjamas every night camp without fail.

TheSmallAssassin · 10/04/2021 13:24
@LemonMeringueThreePointOneFour yes they do. And when they are adults if they choose to wear the same PJ's for a week they are free to make that choice.
Will you really not let them wear their PJs for more than one night until they are adults? This is the strangest thing for me, surely they are allowed to make their own choice for something you yourself say is not related to hygiene?

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 10/04/2021 13:25

😂 That wearing pjs a few times means that I'm dirty. You have ridiculous expectations of basic hygiene.

Fwiw I don't water my garden aside from out of the water butt.

timeisnotaline · 10/04/2021 13:26

@NeverDropYourMoonCup

Definitely clean every night here (and the bed changed fully every week without fail).

Apart from it feeling nice, one of the lesser known risks of having Psoriasis is that the various ointments, lotions and potions you have to use in order to not flay the skin from your body is that they are incredibly flammable when soaked into fabric. As I have absolutely zero intention of either of us or the house going up like Roman Candles in the event of disaster, clean every night minimises the ongoing risk as much as possible. And putting on clothing that is already coated in last night's Coal Tar/Steroid/Emollient feels revolting.

Enormous difference between coal tar/dithranol and the daivobet used now. Those coal tar pjs were absolutely disgusting, I would wear them for a few hours with the cream on before washing and changing into regular pjs. In hindsight it was heroic of my mum doing all the washing for it. Daivobet- it doesn’t bother me rewearing pjs.
Meowchickameowmeow · 10/04/2021 13:27

Or that people are generally dirty, whichever you prefer.

It's not dirty to not have clean nightwear every single night. Are you mud wrestling in bed?
Water is not an infinite resource, it's already scarce in many parts of the world. Would it really hurt to cut back on your consumption by not creating needless mountains of laundry?

SunsetBeetch · 10/04/2021 13:28
@PeopleAreAllWeveGot oh god, don't start the 'do you wear knickers at night' debate 😂
Oh yes. To air or not to air the vajayjay at night? Grin

SpnBaby1967 · 10/04/2021 13:29

When mine were little we did, now I'm not fussed. However my youngest is 8 and still wants to have fresh ones on every night, my middle child will wear the same pair until reminded to change them (he's almost 10), my eldest daughter is 12 & would never change them given half a chance. She drives me insane though as she mix and matches her pyjamas and it irrationally annoys me Grin

luckylavender · 10/04/2021 13:39

After child is dry I don't feel they need to be clean every night. V bad for the environment among other reasons. But they would have to match.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 10/04/2021 13:40

I don't water my garden Billy Grin

yes changing underwear and nightwear after use means having ridiculous expectations...

You have shockingly low standards. It's not surprising, there's a reason why public transport stink. You are not the only one.

if you want to re-wear your underwear, and your nightwear, it's a free country. Even your clothes, your sports clothes...

I find that gross and I am not doing it! Each to their own...

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 10/04/2021 16:08

@thebillyotea you're ridiculous and rude.

LemonMeringueThreePointOneFour · 10/04/2021 16:51

Will you really not let them wear their PJs for more than one night until they are adults? This is the strangest thing for me, surely they are allowed to make their own choice for something you yourself say is not related to hygiene?

I might be overreaching here, but I think there is something potentially supremely damaging about not letting adolescents/young adults practise making decisions which affect them - and sometimes making mistakes - before they get to the stage where they have to make really important choices like whether to have a sexual relationship, whether to take drugs, whether to break the speed limit, whether to walk home through the park or call a cab, etc.

LemonMeringueThreePointOneFour · 10/04/2021 16:53

Whether to go home with that guy they've just met, whether to get into debt...

You need to build up confidence with the small choices before you can confidently make the big, important ones.

thebillyotea · 10/04/2021 17:43
@thebillyotea you're ridiculous and rude.
You can't abuse people who merely replied to the OP, and then call them rude when they call you out on it!

Who is ridiculous here....

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 10/04/2021 17:53

You have shockingly low standards. It's not surprising, there's a reason why public transport stink. You are not the only one.

This is rude and nothing to do with the OP.

daisypond · 10/04/2021 17:57

I would consider having clean PJs every day gross and having low standards. I’d be embarrassed to admit such a thing.

thebillyotea · 10/04/2021 18:08

HercwasanEnemyofEducation

You have consistently be rude, again, don't turn it around when someone is replying to you.Smile

When you attack people, sometimes they do reply. Shocking I know.
