Clean PJ's? Lighthearted

Do your DC wear clean (matching optional) PJs every night?

I'm a little bit ott about it but for me they have to match and must be fresh every night but after another thread about laundry and a discussion with DP apparently I'm weird??

YABU ... You can wear PJs for a few nights (shudder)

YANBU ... clean, fresh, matching PJs every night!

Definitely with Meowchicken on this one I’m afraid. As a species we need to start doing better on stuff like this. There is no need to bathe every night or wash barely worn clothes every day either. Bring on the apocalypse hey Op.

rabbitheadlights · 09/04/2021 09:56

@meowchickameowmeow not proud, nor anything else. Just absolutely sick of snide remarks like yours. You came onto a thread specifically titled lighthearted to chip in with your negative spew... It's beginning to grate!

@Meowchickameowmeow OP has 7 kids. I doubt she is worried about wasting resources Confused

rabbitheadlights · 09/04/2021 09:59

And next it will be ... You have too many children, you're killing the planet .......

@rabbitheadlights you asked a question, people answered.

Your posts toward Meow are totally over dramatic!

It's not "negative spew" to mention the obvious environmental impact your little quirk has. It's not new information that excess washing is bad for people and the planet!

Coldwinterahead1 · 09/04/2021 10:00

My kids have only slept in pants since they were about 3. They hate pj's and won't wear them

Kimye4eva · 09/04/2021 10:00
@denisethemenace 1,2,4,5,7 12 and 15 ... To be fair the 12 and 15 yr old don't really wear PJs as such they wear shorts and loungers etc but it has to be clean
With that many kids and a fresh pair every night you must be constantly washing PJs. How do you have time for anything else? And the environmental impact? I feel bad about the amount we use the washing machine as it is.

Baby has fresh pair every night because they get breakfast on them every morning. 4 year old every couple of nights.

LookAChicken · 09/04/2021 10:02

If everyone is so sweaty could you turn the heating down?

daisypond · 09/04/2021 10:02

No, they don’t put on clean ones every night! I’ve never heard of anyone doing that. I’m gobsmacked by the comments so far.

Jumpers268 · 09/04/2021 10:02

Well there goes the light-hearted thread.....

Kimye4eva · 09/04/2021 10:03

I don’t think there’s anything lighthearted about choosing to ignore the environmental impact of having 7 kids let alone the impact of washing their PJs every single day.

OwlinaTree · 09/04/2021 10:04

No my kids wear them for a week and then change them on a Sunday. I thought that was normal!

rabbitheadlights · 09/04/2021 10:05

Would it make a difference if I said I hand wash everything? I mean we live a simple life, no car, no foreign holidays, meal plan, veggie 5 nights out of 7 ... Jesus so I wash the kids PJ's a bit too often ... So what?

OP posts:
Kottbullar · 09/04/2021 10:06

Pyjamas have to match but I've left it up to my children to decide when they wear clean ones from about 4 years old. I'd say they probably change them every three or four days on average.
With the exception of my eldest mine always end up taking them off during the night and get dressed as soon as they get up so I doubt they're ever really dirty.

EvilOnion · 09/04/2021 10:07

I think jumping on the fact that OP has 7 kids is fair, she can't do anything about them. They're here now.

But laundry habits can be changed so that's fair game for comment.

If you think obsessively washing PJs is lighthearted I'll leave you to it.

inappropriateraspberry · 09/04/2021 10:08

No way! Young children don't get sweaty like adults anyway, unless it's extremely hot.
They get clean pjs when their others are dirty, usually after 2 or 3 days as they end up with breakfast on them.
I do t change mine every night either - I'm not particularly sweaty or smelly, and will change them when I think they need changing, normally after a few days.

inappropriateraspberry · 09/04/2021 10:09

And people wonder why we have a climate disaster 🙄 All this extra washing - of people, clothes and towels.

OwlinaTree · 09/04/2021 10:09

Do you really hand wash everything? If so Shock

I know what you mean about matching though, If they have to change the top because it gets food on for eg, I would change the whole pair.

LookAChicken · 09/04/2021 10:10

Just tell us they are at least made of natural fibres and not acrylic or polyester laden!Wink

Aprilx · 09/04/2021 10:10
@meowchickameowmeow anything worth reading to add??
@rabbitheadlights
@meowchickameowmeow

You would do well to think about meowchick’s and response because they obviously a lot more sense than you.

rabbitheadlights · 09/04/2021 10:12

@OwlinaTree ... No I don't ... But I might have done ... People like to jump on a bandwagon without knowing all the facts they didn't know that.

7 kids in fresh pyjamas every day and you hand wash everything??? How do you have time for like... life?

Same4Walls · 09/04/2021 10:13

Do you honestly not get fed up of doing laundry. 7 pairs of pj's and 7 lots of towels daily alongside 7 sets of clothes possibly more for the littles plus yours and your partners laundry is madness. It would feel like the washing machine and dryer was on constantly.

PivotPivotPivottt · 09/04/2021 10:13

Clean every night. My pyjamas last night were mismatched, my 3 year old went to bed in a matching pair but she wet the bed so was changed into the first top and bottoms I could find Grin. My 9 year old never puts a matching pair on and it does slightly annoy me which makes me a hypocrite because mine are often mismatched Grin.
