Do your DC wear clean (matching optional) PJs every night?

I'm a little bit ott about it but for me they have to match and must be fresh every night but after another thread about laundry and a discussion with DP apparently I'm weird??

YABU ... You can wear PJs for a few nights (shudder)

YANBU ... clean, fresh, matching PJs every night!

How old are they?

star8 · 09/04/2021 09:28

Oh dear. Definitely a new fresh pair every night. The thought of overnight sweat on clothes being reworn.
I dont care if they dont match though i am mostly mismatched at home especially but defo with you on fresh ones nightly

bellsbuss · 09/04/2021 09:30

Yes clean , fresh and matching every night. My mum used to put my siblings and I in clean nightwear every night too.

FelicityPike · 09/04/2021 09:31

My DD wore new jammies every night until she was dry at night, so around 3.5.

Jumpers268 · 09/04/2021 09:32

My sister couldn't believe that I put my 6 year old into clean pyjamas every night, yet I (and most adults) will wear the same ones for at least a couple nights. I have no idea why I do it 🙈😂😂.

EnglishRain · 09/04/2021 09:32

DD is only 8 months but she gets a clean vest each night but we reuse her sleeping bag for a few nights before washing.

MysweetAudrina · 09/04/2021 09:33

For me yes, kids are 11 and 13 so no idea how often they wear fresh but they can if they want to.

rabbitheadlights · 09/04/2021 09:35

@denisethemenace 1,2,4,5,7 12 and 15 ... To be fair the 12 and 15 yr old don't really wear PJs as such they wear shorts and loungers etc but it has to be clean

Meowchickameowmeow · 09/04/2021 09:38

You have 7 children who all wear clean nightwear every single night? I can't even imagine the amount of laundry you have to do, what a complete waste of resources and time.

Hoppythehippo · 09/04/2021 09:39

Yes - one is a very sweaty sleeper and one wears nappies at night time which causes the pjs to smell a bit in the morning.

rabbitheadlights · 09/04/2021 09:40

@jumpers268 I don't know why I do it. But it genuinely puts me on edge not to, DD spilt her milk last week but instead of changing just her top, I had to completely change her PJs. I know it's not rational at all but I can't help it.

rabbitheadlights · 09/04/2021 09:41

@meowchickameowmeow anything worth reading to add??

OP posts:
Gatehouse77 · 09/04/2021 09:42

Nope, PJs lasted a week when they were kids unless they were obviously dirty. All they did was put them on straight after a bath, sleep and then get dressed so minimal chance of needing washing.

Jumpers268 · 09/04/2021 09:43

Oh I completely feel you! And why do they have to match? Like I can't even imagine him wearing mismatched pyjamas. Shudder. So not rational 😂😂.

DenisetheMenace · 09/04/2021 09:43

With the little ones, yes. From 5 onwards, ours would do 2/3 nights (barring the occasional accident). They always bathed before bed so were clean when they put them on, if you see what I mean.

rabbitheadlights · 09/04/2021 09:45

@meowchickameowmeow ... They have a bath/shower every night too, just to add to the wasted resources.

OP posts:
AmyLou100 · 09/04/2021 09:46

Yes fresh, clean pair every night after bath.

Meowchickameowmeow · 09/04/2021 09:47

You seem quite proud, well done you.

KingdomScrolls · 09/04/2021 09:49

Yes fresh pair every night after the bath, DS is a sweaty sleeper , would seem odd to bathe him then put him back in sweaty pyjamas

ipswichwitch · 09/04/2021 09:50

I do mainly because eldest has eczema and with creams and flaky skin his pyjamas can be grim in the morning 🤢. Also the youngest ends up slopping breakfast down the front of his most mornings.

Lovethewater · 09/04/2021 09:52

YABU - I am definitely with meowchickaneowmeow on this.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 09/04/2021 09:53

🤣 no matching here, but I do get my youngest son to wear clean ones every night. You sweat a lot at night so I think fresh ones are better. I've given up on the oldest. Matching however, no. You would have a hard job finding matching pjs for anyone in here. Most of ds2s are hand me downs from ds1. A lot of them were once long trousers that they made me cut into shorts. You should see the state of them! I've still got pjs that I've had for 10 years 🤣

EvilOnion · 09/04/2021 09:53

No, we don't do this.

I don't own matching pjs as I tend to just wear a vest top in bed and throw a pair of pj bottoms on in the morning so I get 3 days out of mine. Shower 5/7 nights on average with pit/face/fanny wipe every morning.

Kids were bathed every second night and pjs changed nightly/2 nightly as needed. 8 and 15 year old now so they choose their own and change as needed.

Life is too short to stress about matching pjs and excess laundry!

stayathomer · 09/04/2021 09:54

No (yikes!). Every 3 nights I'd change them over to coincide with showers, or if they look sweaty or it was a particularly warm night of course but otherwise no. I'd recommend the sniff test! (Youngest are 6 and 8 and eldest are 11 and 13 and wear boxers a lot so they obviously change daily)

Anoisagusaris · 09/04/2021 09:55

Nope, my kids aren’t sweaty. They don’t have a bath everyday either. When they were babies they probably would have had a clean babygro most nights as there’d be dribbles of milk on them.

Me - clean pair every night. Only in recent years though, as I’ve started sweating at night.
