Clean PJ's? Lighthearted

Do your DC wear clean (matching optional) PJs every night?

I'm a little bit ott about it but for me they have to match and must be fresh every night but after another thread about laundry and a discussion with DP apparently I'm weird??

YABU ... You can wear PJs for a few nights (shudder)

YANBU ... clean, fresh, matching PJs every night!

I am wondering whether this urge for everything to be clean is more of a modern day internal insistence that validates the value of " clean means good parenting"?

Not in my house. My kids are clean for about 30 seconds when they put on their clothes I the morning. The 13 year olds getting a bit better at keeping clean sometimes. I just hate smelly jammies, and I don't care what anyone here says after a night of sleep, pjs do smell a bit foosty.
@meowchickameowmeow anything worth reading to add??
I agree with "@Meowchickameowmeow completely, not sure why you are so dismissive of it.

tuttifuckinfruity · 09/04/2021 12:03

@MynameisJune

Definitely with Meowchicken on this one I’m afraid. As a species we need to start doing better on stuff like this. There is no need to bathe every night or wash barely worn clothes every day either. Bring on the apocalypse hey Op.
Agree.
doctorhamster · 09/04/2021 12:07

My kids aren't allowed to wear their pyjamas in case they sweat or get them dirty.

EspressoExpresso · 09/04/2021 12:09

I happily wear mine 2-3 nights on the trot. DS has clean (and matching!) every night as he gets breakfast all over them in the morning (he's 2, SEN and eats cereal with his hands 🤦‍♀️)

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 09/04/2021 12:11

@rabbitheadlights For a light hearted thread you've managed to turn it in the opposite direction very well with your snippy comments to meow.

DS 14m and I have a bath / shower every evening. Clean onesie for him every evening, I wear my nightie for 3 days ish. I do wear clean night undies though every night. I only do laundry once a week.

PeopleAreAllWeveGot · 09/04/2021 14:35

Ah, mumsnet. Always hilarious.

We have 2, 5, and 7 year olds- all changed when they are noticeably dirty (usually every day for the younger two, sometimes 3 days for the 7 year old). I change mine every 3/4 nights or so- I wear knickers at night though, which obviously makes a big difference...

As others have said, anyone would say they'd prefer fresh on every night, if asked, but it's about a bigger picture. The last thing I want to do is be oblivious of that, and bring up entitled darlings who don't think beyond the importance of their own preferences.

user1493494961 · 09/04/2021 14:58

Mine will last a week, no waste of resources here.

Camomila · 09/04/2021 15:05

I change them every 2 nights to save on washing. The baby has a bath every evening but my eldest has one every other day as he has dry skin.

JosephineBaker · 09/04/2021 15:14

Good lord, you must be chained to the washing machine.

No, I do not insist on nightly clean bedthings for anyone over the age of being toilet trained. There's another period when they are all hormonal and smelly that they need nightly fresh pjs but that's not for long.

Toomuchtooyoung01 · 09/04/2021 15:20

Yes to fresh and matching every night! Apart from sweat and the breakfast crumbs/toothpaste that means their pyjamas are never clean enough to wear to bed 2 nights in a row, I also think how nice is it when you're fresh out of the bath and then put nice fresh pyjamas on, so why wouldn't you do that for your child every night? We have so much washing to do anyway, whats an extra pair of pyjamas?!

otterbaby · 09/04/2021 15:24

@PeopleAreAllWeveGot oh god, don't start the 'do you wear knickers at night' debate 😂

Fabuleuse · 09/04/2021 15:25

My 3 year old has clean ones every day. He wears a night-time pull-up so I don't like the thought of reusing pyjamas that have been that close to pee. My nearly 7 year old also gets clean pyjamas about 5 or 6 days out of 7 because he still seems to be incapable of eating breakfast without splashing himself with milk.

daisyjgrey · 09/04/2021 15:28

Yeah no I'm with @Meowchickameowmeow

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 09/04/2021 15:28

Clean every night, but not matching! Often younger one will sleep in a clean t shirt and clean pair of pants.

PercyPiginaWig · 09/04/2021 15:35
@sanfranfibber I said up thread that I don't wash everything by hand of course, but I could have done, other posters weren't to know that before they piled in with the wasting resources etc ..
But unnecessary washing is a waste of resources whether by hand or machine?
One might waste less water than the other but if you don't need to do it then it's a waste of water, detergent and possibly more importantly to you, your time.
You could do them every other night and put your feet up occasionally!
If you know your feelings aren't rational try it one night next week, if nothing bad happens try it again...you might be pleasantly surprised.

PeopleAreAllWeveGot · 09/04/2021 15:39

@otterbaby oh don't worry, I always wear the same pair. That's normal, right? They're my night knickers. Get a new pair every Xmas :)

shouldistop · 09/04/2021 15:41

4yo usually wears his for maybe 3 nights. 4mo I can usually get 2 nights out of his sleep suits unless he's had a poonami or been sick on them.

shouldistop · 09/04/2021 15:43

But always matching. I put clothes away neatly so it's just as easy to have matching as not. If I had to rummage around to find matching then i probably wouldn't bother.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 09/04/2021 15:44
@meowchickameowmeow anything worth reading to add??
Actually, OP, it was a good point. You are boasting about your wasting of waters and resources which you use more than most people.

This is just a judgy, goady thread which you thought was worth posting. Others would disagree but, since you posted it, be prepared for people to post not as you would wish.

WalkingMeAway · 09/04/2021 15:44

My DS (age4) wears clean and matching pj's every night, because I get him ready for bed.

My DD (age 12) is another matter now she sorts herself. I try and make sure she wears clean at least every couple of nights.

Marmite27 · 09/04/2021 15:47

Clean every other night here. Due to sensitive skin they only bath/shower every other night too on doctors orders.

hopelessatthinkingupusernames · 09/04/2021 15:49

Do people who insist on fresh pjs every night do the same on holiday? Take 7 pairs of pjs for a week long holiday? Not being goady, genuinely interested
