Clean PJ's? Lighthearted

Do your DC wear clean (matching optional) PJs every night?

I'm a little bit ott about it but for me they have to match and must be fresh every night but after another thread about laundry and a discussion with DP apparently I'm weird??

YABU ... You can wear PJs for a few nights (shudder)

YANBU ... clean, fresh, matching PJs every night!

I remember reading a post a few months back from someone claiming they all wore a fresh pair of pjs every night. I asked what they did on holiday; did they take 28 pairs of pjs on holiday for the four of them or spend their holiday washing pjs? They didn't reply.

somuchlaundrytowash · 09/04/2021 15:52

Clean every night for all the family . My username says it all really Grin

So do you take 7 pairs each on holiday as others have asked and genuinely why if you recognise you have too much laundry do you continue the madness of clean pj's daily. Why not reclaim some of your time and swap every 2 or 3 days?
Crowsaregreat · 09/04/2021 15:55

We wear ours for a week, no pants. Kids wear theirs an average of three days, until they are dirty. We don't wash things that aren't dirty and my kids don't sweat in bed.

Clean every day is nuts. I'd rather not spend my life doing laundry.

dobidobidooo · 09/04/2021 15:57

Mine have a bath every 2nd night and they have a fresh pair of pjs then. They aren't sweaty kids though.

daisyjgrey · 09/04/2021 15:58

It wasn't a lighthearted thread, it was a "how often do you wash your towels? I do mine 9 times a day but my friend o my does hers every other day and I think that's gross, AIBU" and then getting all pissy when someone tells you that they think you're being OTT.

I'm surprised you have time to deal with such things to be honest, don't you have 2 tonnes of washing to do?

rabbitheadlights · 09/04/2021 16:21

The thread was never meant to be goady at all, I'm not an avid mumsnetter there are clearly issues on here re resources etc and I have noticed the large family police are always about. It was a genuine thread, we had fresh PJ's nightly as children and so do mine. I sleep better showered and in fresh jammies, that's just how it is. The thread needn't have gone this way as it was absolutely unnecessary to start rambling about wasted resources etc.

For those that asked we only holiday in the UK and yes I take 7 sets of PJ's for 7 nights.

@daisyjgrey I literally said in my OP that I'm OTT about it. I expected people to disagree. I didn't expect the environmental shaming

You honestly take a minimum of 63 pairs of pj's with you when you travel, probably even more than that due to the potential for some children having accidents??? That's absolutely mind-blowing. How many cases do you take with you?

sanfranfibber · 09/04/2021 16:26

How much luggage do 63 pairs of pjs take for a holiday? I honestly can't get my mind around it. You take more pairs of pjs per person than I take outfits!

It was unnecessary for you to police meowchickameowmeow's post, but you did. The one rambling is actually you, OP.

I put my 4 month old in clean ones every night but that’s mainly because there’s inevitably milk on the collar. Once she’s old enough she’ll be in them for a few nights at least! If people sweat so much at night as to need clean pjs in April maybe the house is too hot.

daisyducky · 09/04/2021 16:30

DD3 & DS1 both clean pjs every night as they eat their breakfast in their pjs and there is always something spilt over them. Usually milk and we all know that stinks and fruit stains!

It infuriates me when my husband dresses them before breakfast as they need at least a change of top half an hour after getting dressed 🙈

PerspicaciousGreen · 09/04/2021 16:30

You're absolutely crackers. Unless something happens, ours get fresh pyjamas on Sunday night. I do change the whole pair at a time so I don't have to keep track of how long each individual bit had been worn. They each have three pairs total, but if they wanted to mix and match for "aesthetic" reasons in the future I wouldn't make a fuss about it.

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 09/04/2021 16:31

DS is now 14 and just wears boxer shorts in bed, but when he was little he always had clean, matching pyjamas every night.

I wear clean, ironed, matching pyjamas every night too!

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 09/04/2021 16:33

The thread went the way it did because of you.
Meow's post wasn't unreasonable, you got shirty.
If you're not an avid mumsnetter you may be unaware that you don't get to police how a thread goes, but now you know.

rabbitheadlights · 09/04/2021 16:33

Considering the children are all little the amount of space in luggage is not as much as you might think. Granted when they are all older I might change my mind. I'm not bothered about jeans being worn for a few days etc, it's not a hygiene thing for me it's more about a good night's sleep and feeling as nice as possible when getting into bed at night.

So given that we holiday in the UK my 5 yr old would take 7 PJ's, 10 sets of underwear, maybe 3 jeans, 2 chinos, 10 tops. It's really not that much when you think about it.

PerspicaciousGreen · 09/04/2021 16:33

^^ clarification having read more of the thread: 3yo and 1yo are bathed nightly unless unwell, they drink milk first thing in their pyjamas but we get them dressed before breakfast. Both in nappies at night which never leak.

Wowyouareboring · 09/04/2021 16:51

Fresh, clean and matching ones every night

If they dress themselves though usually clean but not matching 😅

GreenWheat · 09/04/2021 16:53

These threads always blow my mind with how differently people approach things. I have two children. They each own two sets of winter pjs and two sets of summer. It's never occurred to me that they need more than that. They are at that age though, of being old enough not to spill things but not yet hormonal teenagers. Pjs usually last a week in our house!

Onedropbeat · 09/04/2021 16:55

If they had been sweating a lot then yet but if not then no

If they are sweating enough every night that they need fresh pjs on each day then you need to cool down the room, or reduce thickness of quilt or go for summer pjs or all of the above.

Abracadabra12345 · 09/04/2021 16:55

@Lovethewater

YABU - I am definitely with meowchickaneowmeow on this.
So am I
Beeme29 · 09/04/2021 16:56

Bath and clean pair every night.

Mainly because they wake up and eat breakfast and play in their pjs so they are usually needing a wash especially in the holidays when they stay in pjs for longer than normal 😂 So I’ll put them in the wash basket once they are dressed.

Also just because I love clean fresh pjs every night 💕

TokyoSushi · 09/04/2021 16:59

Yes, clean, fresh and matching every night, although I wear mine for 2 nights unless at the weekend when I do cleaning etc in them until lunchtime!

AlwaysLatte · 09/04/2021 17:00

Yes they do, 13 and 10 now and it's a hangover from when they were tiny and pjs would be covered in breakfast! Now it's teen sweat... But we have a dog and after puppy cuddles most of our clothes are destined for the laundry bin each day anyway!
