It's like a script from a very badly written sitcom

Hahaha yes. Because we've been spared his inane ramblings for half a year, that statement just stuck out as something a schoolboy would write!
Embarrassing!

DuncinToffee · 11/06/2021 13:26

How I wish the UK had an adult in charge. That image of Joe Biden with his hand on Johnson's shoulder was pretty powerful.

Roussette · 11/06/2021 13:36

Yes. I agree.

And the image of Jill and Joe and Carrie walking along with Boris lolloping along just gave me deja vu back to Doofus. Taking the child out for a walk.

Him using a plane to get from London to Cornwall was very Doofus like as well. Just missing the crowd size comments.

Roussette · 11/06/2021 14:27

Not only taking a plane whilst talking about climate change... and the hotel chopping down trees in a woodland for the helicopter to land. This was back in March in readiness for this.

Lawmakers in Oregon ejected one of their colleagues from office for the first time in state history, voting 59 to 1 to oust Representative Mike Nearman for his role in helping a far-right crowd breach the State Capitol last year.

That's a start!

Small steps.

Well done, them!

'It doesn't support the headlines.'

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/06/2021 15:56

"The IG’s executive summary says it was really all about installing a security fence"

I would have thought that the question that needs asking is "was there in fact fencing erected within say an hour or two hours of the forcible expulsion of a large number of people from an area which was related to that fencing?" Because if there was, then fair does to them, they did need to get the area cleared at that time. If there wasn't, then they didn't.

'According to the results of a Politico/Morning Consult poll conducted between June 4 and June 7, 3 in 10 Republican voters think that Trump is going to be back in the Oval Office this year. While 61% of GOP voters (and 84% of Democrats and 70% of Independents) dismiss the idea as the ramblings of a deeply disturbed individual who should’ve been put in a straitjacket a long time ago, one third is an unnervingly high percentage, considering, again, that we’re talking about the prospect of Trump replacing Biden as president with 1,320 days to go in the latter’s term.'

Honestly, it's starting to get scary out there with the craziness in the Doofus cult. Get your guns the revolution is coming, he'll be reinstated in August, the big lie, the GOP actually working to restrict voting rights, state legislatures trying to vote themselves the power to overturn elections et al.

Most of the shit they're spreading and trying to do is so unbelievable and unthinkable that we're just gobsmacked. And we're trying to fight it all with tools that, by and large, don't work. Kinda like trying to kill a swarm of killer bees with a fly swatter. You may get a few of them, but you won't get them all and you're going to get really badly stung, possibly fatally, in the process.

The problem is it's so unprecedented that current laws and/or the Constitution don't cover it and no one really knows what to do about it now that we know that reasonable discussion and dissemination of the truth isn't working. And in some ways we're sort of paralyzed by our own sense of "Nah, no one can possibly believe THAT. They'll come to their senses, they have to" at each further absurdity or incitement.

I hate to think we have to stoop to their tactics and strategies, but I'm afraid we're rapidly approaching 'needs must when the devil drives'. And if we do take that road, what will we be left with when the dust settles?

Now, according to a behind-the-scenes reconstruction by The Washington Post’s David Ignatius, Jordanian investigators say the alleged plotters were hoping to destabilize their own country so they could promote Jared Kushner’s grand Middle East peace deal.

AcrossthePond55 · 13/06/2021 20:01

I was watching the video of Joe & Jill's recent arrival(s) and departure(s) and their comfortable and seemingly routine handholding and 'arm in arm-ing' is such a contrast with Doofus and Melania in the same situations, with her snatching her hand away from him or moving so that he couldn't touch her as well as him walking off and leaving her to trail behind at events and on the way to/from AF1.

It's nice to have a 1st couple who really enjoy each other's company.

Roussette · 13/06/2021 20:09

They just looked so classy, and affectionate with each other. I loved the footage of them in St. Ives/Carbis Bay. Totally at ease with each other.

Yes, agree Across. There was animosity between the previous pair, you could tell and he just used to leave her standing, and then the snatching her hand away, yes.

Joe & Jill have the lurrrve!

Roussette · 13/06/2021 20:11

Your previous post Across.

What scary times. I've read on Twitter that people are getting frustrated with Merrick Garland, for no action on the Insurrection, but then others come along and say it's all happening in the background

Dirty tricks by the GOP

Difficult to know for sure, isn't it? Especially after the Mueller report.
