Cheeky tourist used my address for their takeaway!!

I live near a park, so we get a lot of tourists in the area.

Today, some girl visiting the park ordered herself an uber eats delivery to specifically my exact address so I had a driver knocking on my door. I thought he must be in the wrong place so asked to look at the address so I could direct him, as that sometimes happens, but it was my full address on there! It's quite an obscure address as well as it has a different postcode to the rest of the street and the house has a name instead of a number, which we don't display so you would need to look it up to get the whole thing. There was even a description in the delivery instructions.

She wasn't close by to receive the delivery either and the poor driver was really confused and awkward and was trying to call her and she didnt pick up her phone, and he was stuck waiting there for quite a while going are you sure it's not yours, you dont know anyone called name that could have sent it, it's been paid for so I have to deliver it, the person who ordered it needs to be at the address it's ordered to. I felt so bad for him.

AIBU to think that is blo*dy rude?! I might not have minded if she had asked first or had been around to receive it but to me I just think its really inconsiderate. When she finally turned up I asked her if she didnt think it was a bit inappropriate and rude and told her not to ever do it again and she just acted like I had been super offensive and sarcastically told me to have a nice day.

Some tourists can be so lovely and others are just so self absorbed.

I'd have eaten it.

Benjispruce2 · 04/04/2021 18:33

You should have taken and enjoyed it op!

toocold54 · 04/04/2021 18:33

Why did you give it to her?! You should have took it in and pretended like you never got it and then she would have learnt to not do it again.

PanamaPattie · 04/04/2021 18:34

Cheeky mare. I would have taken it and binned it.

toocold54 · 04/04/2021 18:35

@mooonstone who did you have it delivered to a park and not your home? Could they not leave it on the doorstep?

daisypond · 04/04/2021 18:36

Wow, I have never heard of this. I’m shocked. It’s incredibly cheeky, and exploitative of the poor driver.

N51BU · 04/04/2021 18:36

I would have pretended it was mine and ate it

AcrossthePond55 · 04/04/2021 18:37

I'd have sent the driver on his way and eaten it myself. Or maybe stuck it in the freezer so if someone came knocking they'd get cold food.

mooonstone · 04/04/2021 18:38

@toocold54 um, because I wasn’t at home? I was at a park with friends, prior to restaurants etc reopening after lockdown 1

SnowyPetals · 04/04/2021 18:38

I live opposite a park.
If anyone ever uses my address for deliveries, they won't be getting it! Twats.

Plumbear2 · 04/04/2021 18:39

If I lived near a park and this was happening I would be calling all takeaways local who deliver and asking them to block delivery to my address. What a cheek.

Blackcat21 · 04/04/2021 18:39

Wow what’s an ballsache op, that’s just pure silly. I would be worked up about it (regardless of other people saying they wouldn’t) as it would of been time out of my day and a faff for the delivery driver, all for a cheeky mare who didn’t ask! Confused

NotATomato · 04/04/2021 18:41

I would have kept it.

daisypond · 04/04/2021 18:42

Why didn’t you either have it delivered at home and take it with you, or go to the restaurant itself to pick it up as a takeaway?

Catslovepies · 04/04/2021 18:43

@toocold54

Why did you give it to her?! You should have took it in and pretended like you never got it and then she would have learnt to not do it again.
Really unfair to the driver to claim you hadn't taken it if you had. Best to just say that as it came to your address you figured it was for you and ate it! I mean, I would have just given it to her but if you want to "punish" her fair enough, but not ok to drag the driver into it.
Omemiserum · 04/04/2021 18:45

they need to use 'just 3 words' app

StanfordPines · 04/04/2021 18:46

That’s so cheeky.

jillandhersprite · 04/04/2021 18:47

Like most people have said - just take the delivery, let the driver get back on his round.
I would answer the door and depending on the demeanour and attitude of the person turning up to collect it would inform me whether to give them the takeaway or not...

MrsDThomas · 04/04/2021 18:47

I would have definitely eaten it! Cheeky fucking cow😡

EssentialHummus · 04/04/2021 18:49

I live near a nice park and the two houses nearest the park gate have this almost nightly (I’m friends with one of them). The second house now has a sign up saying, “No we didn’t order a takeaway”.

I’ll be honest - if it was me I’d be accepting each and every one, even if they went straight in the bin. Or, “Ordered a takeaway to this address? £5 redemption fee.”

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 04/04/2021 18:49

When we have a take away in the park one of us just walks / drives to collect it. Mad to order it to a random address outside the park.

Cherrysoup · 04/04/2021 18:51

Cheeky bitch, I would have binned it.

Onjnmoeiejducwoapy · 04/04/2021 18:51

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the ordering if you’re there to collect

StanfordPines · 04/04/2021 18:52

Am I alone in never having eaten a takeaway in a park? Is this a lockdown thing or has it been happening for a while?
If I’m meeting friends in a park I’ll take a picnic even if that is just stuff I’ve picked up at the supermarket on the way.

It wouldn’t occur to me to order a pizza.

AcornAutumn · 04/04/2021 18:52

I was literally thinking yesterday that people living next to the park are going to get a lot of this. It's awful OP.
