i went to show my dd and her bf a lovely house, on a public footpath, yesterday, which i had discovered the previous weekend, it is famous, lived in previously by a famous person
it has a moat.
the public footpath goes passed it,
some people, probably staff shouted at us that it was private

a bit later we looked at a lovely cottage and the presumably owners came by smiling happily at us,

aibu to go back to the large house every bloody day

A public footpath runs past 2 houses, one large and moated, the other smaller but cute. You stop to have a look at each house and get very different reactions from the residents of each house. Have I got that right?

Assuming you hadn't strayed off the footpath and onto private property, the reaction of the moated house's residents is bonkers. They bought a stunning house with a public footpath running past so really should expect that people might pause to admire said stunning house. Twats. I would consider returning with a large picnic next week, TBH. I say that as someone who lived in a picturesque house in a tourist hotspot and regularly looked up from watching telly to find people literally pressed against the window, peering in from the pavement. I think they thought it was some kind of tourist house as it was so cute. I used to turn back to the telly and raise my middle finger to them till they left 😂. But peering through a window is a lot more invasive than admiring from a distance.

So the vast majority of people say OP is unreasonable and yet she keeps going.

they are spoil sports imo, i am not going to change my mind based on this

Then why ask?! This is very strange.

A tour guide is a person isn't it

Are you involving someone else in your oddball pastime?

Thelastlightbulb · 06/04/2021 21:19

OP - sees opportunity to bash some nouveaux riche/incomers/from forrin parts and takes it, expecting MN to jump on board in the vindictiveness shown in the intention to take a group back to stand outside people who clearly wouldn't like it and when that doesn't happen cries that they are being bullied like a fox. There are some really cray cray people around and I don't think it's the majority of people on this thread Grin

@Inthevirtualwaitingroom

they made a big deal of us walking by, telling the young girl to move out of the way.

one of the other villagers had told us about the house the previous week.
so bizarre

I’m still waiting to hear who the girl is.
FenwickRose · 06/04/2021 22:52

i expect these were incomers
Ah, is it a local house for local people OP? Grin
