i went to show my dd and her bf a lovely house, on a public footpath, yesterday, which i had discovered the previous weekend, it is famous, lived in previously by a famous person
it has a moat.
the public footpath goes passed it,
some people, probably staff shouted at us that it was private

a bit later we looked at a lovely cottage and the presumably owners came by smiling happily at us,

aibu to go back to the large house every bloody day

@Inthevirtualwaitingroom

ffs why is that a load of crap? are you just trying to be shit?

i discover footpaths,
even if i had a os what difference?
i like to walk on them, not look at the map!
what boring person you are @PeggyArmstrong

Do you have any understanding of maps or actual public footpaths?
Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 05/04/2021 19:17

@EastWestWhosBest,
No I just follow them to see where it lands up

So, in essence, you walk along public footpaths? What a rare and intriguing hobby! Maybe you should ask MN to delete your thread because it’s so outing 🤣😂🤣

I'm sure OP that you're happy not to complain about people walking/peering or whatever you were doing outside your home? Especially if they're incomers.

Acovic · 05/04/2021 21:08

@Inthevirtualwaitingroom I can beat that.

I stopped outside an English Heritage property two weekends ago when I was walking part of the Capital Ring Walk.

I wanted a photo as I have a days out in London aspect to my instagram feed and thought it would be nice to publicise both the walk and that the garden of the house was open. The house is one of my favourite places to visit in this part of London.

However, I unwittingly put half my foot onto the private footpath of the house while teeing up my slot. Due to this I got yelled at by the employee on the entry gate (the one I was at which was the exit and was deserted).

I explained I was just taking a picture and wasn't going to go in but she still came over specially (so breaking 2m social distancing rules) to order me to remove the 4 inches of my foot that was on the private foot path.

I spent more time with half my foot on the path because of her intervention than I would have done if she had just let me get on with it.

And the house didn't get the publicity I was intending to give it!

It was totally bonkers and the ultimate irony is that I actually have free access to the property and grounds as I'm an English Heritage member (albeit I hadn't booked a time slot for that day as I hadn't realised the grounds had reopened).

Jokes!
They'll copeGrin

Next time a DH has Hobby I think we know it must be this.

Oh yes, the snooty rich interlopers and their disgusting staff rather than the benignly smiling simple cottage folk. Confused

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 05/04/2021 22:19

the cottage was pretty special and expensive no doubt.

that is bigger indeed than my tale @Acovic

Was does "take a tour guide" mean? Are you going back with another person to decribe the local history?

I don't understand what your plan is

Acovic · 05/04/2021 22:38

@ButamIthough I’m sure they will cope (it’s English Heritage FFS) but I would say I’m pretty switched on to what goes on in my patch and I hadn’t realised the grounds had reopened I’m sure there will be others lie me.

I have a reasonably sizeable motivated IG following for stuff like this. I reckon 20 odd people might have booked tkts for their family as a result of my post.

It would all have been money for English Heritage either in gate receipts or takeaway coffee.

Thelastlightbulb · 06/04/2021 02:06

There are some very entitled people about at the moment.

At there’s some light relief like this in a thread which otherwise demonstrates how contrary, obstinate and entitled some people are!

Discovering footpaths as a hobby, ffs!

Grapewrath · 06/04/2021 14:35

You just sound really strange tbh

FeelTheRush · 06/04/2021 15:08

None of this makes any sense

Me neither.

The thread title doesn't make any sort of sense.

@Inthevirtualwaitingroom can you clarify what you actually mean please?

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 06/04/2021 18:04

@CentBoppers,
probably the wrong terminology,
i wasnt drunk your honour,
a guided tour

but i think you all know very well

OP posts:
Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 06/04/2021 18:06

This is like a blood sport to some of you,
and i am the fox

LunchBoxPolice · 06/04/2021 18:16

Does it have a moat

CentBoppers · 06/04/2021 18:49

Well I don't know "very well"

Sounds like it is a private dwelling, so how do you imagine you could take a guided tour?

HadEnoughOfBears · 06/04/2021 19:01

Have you just moved to the area?
