Peanut butter and butter on toast is wrong

Settle a debate for me Grin If you are eating peanut butter on toast do you butter the toast first? I don't because it seems like too much fat but DP does and calls me weird.
YABU - Toast, butter and peanut butter
YANBU - toast and peanut butter doesn't require extra

Butter as well
Butter moistens and softens the toast to prepare for whatever topping you're adding

Lulu1919 · 02/04/2021 15:21

Butter and peanut butter
There isn't any butter in peanut butter ...the one I buy is 100% pure nuts,

georgarina · 02/04/2021 15:22

Peanut butter only until just recently when I had bad morning sickness and white bread with butter and creamy PB was the only thing that helped!

YoniAndGuy · 02/04/2021 15:23

It's way too dry without butter.

Peanut butter isn't a peanutty version of butter you know Grin

ultrablue · 02/04/2021 15:27

@IHaveBrilloHair

Butter, then marmite, then peanut butter.
Oh yes heaven and then add add a laughing cow cheese triangle amazing.
littlepattilou · 02/04/2021 15:28

Ewww, who is saying YABU to the OP?! Peanut butter on TOP of butter is grim and vile. No, just NO! Shock

Larryslockdownlunch · 02/04/2021 15:31

You need butter and chocolate spread then peanut butter. The crunchy kind

Oblomov21 · 02/04/2021 15:31

Toast always needs butter. Peanut butter or not.

Ninkanink · 02/04/2021 15:36

Oh I didn’t even notice it was on toast - I don’t like peanut butter on toast because it gets all melty, so you’re both wrong.

Here’s how I have marmite on toast:

Butter on slightly, but only slightly, cooled toast to melt, then marmite, then more butter on top to stay half cold. So good. I low carb most of the time to this is a very rare treat.

PickAChew · 02/04/2021 15:37

A smidgen of butter makes it less claggy. I have it without, though, as butter doesn't really agree with me so only use it where I would really appreciate it.

MummyJ12 · 02/04/2021 15:38

No butter for me. I usually have jam or Nutella on top of my peanut butter though....Yum! Smile

lollipoprainbow · 02/04/2021 15:38

Yes I do and I'm eating it right now !!

Plumbear2 · 02/04/2021 15:58

Allow toast to go cold then spread butter on then a thin layer of peanut butter gorgeous

Ninkanink · 02/04/2021 15:59

This is a BAAAAAAD thread for me..........

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 02/04/2021 16:07

Yabu. If you are bothered about the fat quantity overall the only solution I have found is to swap the peanut butter for almond butter which is more liquid, peanut butter with no butter I find too dry.

Feedingthebirds1 · 02/04/2021 16:13

May I offer (not that anyone asked) - crunchy peanut butter and sandwich spread.

The peanut butter is rich and crunchy but quite dry. The sandwich spread is sharp and moist and quite smooth (the chopped veg in it are soft). With butter, of course.

@IHaveBrilloHair

Butter, then marmite, then peanut butter.
Must try this! The marmite barrier sounds great 👍🏻
AnnaSW1 · 02/04/2021 16:25

I always butter it. There's no butter in peanut butter so it's just the same as anything else on toast. I always butter it first.

SmilingGeraffe · 02/04/2021 16:33

Butter then peanut butter. You're doing it wrong OP!@!

wlv12 · 02/04/2021 16:50

It needs to have butter and the peanut butter needs to be thick and crunchy.

lachy · 02/04/2021 16:52

Wish I'd read this thread before I had a slice of toast!

jay55 · 02/04/2021 16:56

Smooth no butter
Crunchy, needs butter

MereDintofPandiculation · 02/04/2021 17:10

@sunflowersandbuttercups

YABU. If you don't add butter, the peanut butter just sticks to the roof of your mouth!
But a much better way is to put marmalade on top of the peanut butter instead.
sunflowersandbuttercups · 02/04/2021 17:15

But a much better way is to put marmalade on top of the peanut butter instead.

Ooh no, I can't stand marmalade Grin

I do sometimes add chocolate spread though, it's like having a Reese's cup on toast!

viques · 02/04/2021 17:17

Bread, or toast, butter, smooth peanut butter (no palm oil) and a bit of salt.

I understand it is what the gods ate on Mount Olympus, so who am I to argue.
