Peanut butter and butter on toast is wrong

Settle a debate for me Grin If you are eating peanut butter on toast do you butter the toast first? I don't because it seems like too much fat but DP does and calls me weird.
YABU - Toast, butter and peanut butter
YANBU - toast and peanut butter doesn't require extra

It isnt. Its so delicious. Only when its crunchy peanut butter though.

QuestionableMouse · 02/04/2021 14:55

Yes I do, or it ends up too claggy in your mouth. If I'm eating peanut butter on toast I'm not doing it for the health beni😂

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/04/2021 14:55

Butter, then marmite, then peanut butter.

WhiteVixen · 02/04/2021 14:56

Definitely yes to butter. Makes it all oozy and delicious.

EggysMom · 02/04/2021 14:59

Surely the whole point of peanut butter is that it's claggy? It's a sensory experience as well as a taste experience.

Butter ~ Peanut butter ~ Welch's grape jelly

REAL FOOD

KurtWilde · 02/04/2021 15:02

No butter for me, otherwise it's too greasy

Mochudubh · 02/04/2021 15:05

IMO the toast needs a slight scrape of butter otherwise the PB is too claggy.

On non-toasted bread I'd probably spread the PB straight on.

@Mydogisagentleman

YANBU, but some sliced ripe banana elevates it
This!
ToffeeNotCoffee · 02/04/2021 15:05

Two 'butters' plus honey. Just saying.

Lead me not into temptation.......

maddiemookins16mum · 02/04/2021 15:07

YABU.
It’s dry as feck without it.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 02/04/2021 15:08

Welch's grape jelly

Fake jam. Yes alright, it's jelly not preserve but whilst I don't mind it, it just makes me crave proper jam. Of pretty much any flavour. Oh, with or without peanut butter of course.

BTW you PBJ aficionados is the PB smooth or crunchy in your / on your PBJ.

Nowayhozay · 02/04/2021 15:09

Just peanut butter for me.
Has to be crunchy as well, none of that smooth muck.

joysmoy66 · 02/04/2021 15:11

Butter for me and both the butter and peanut butter thickly spread

JaneJeffer · 02/04/2021 15:11

Butter, peanut butter, blackcurrant jam. Delicious.

Ninkanink · 02/04/2021 15:11

Peanut butter and Nutella.

yuccaplant · 02/04/2021 15:12

YABVVU

troppibambini6 · 02/04/2021 15:12

Oh god me and dh have this argument all the time!
Or course you don't but butter on as well, peanut BUTTER is the butter.

Ninkanink · 02/04/2021 15:12

(No butter necessary for that one)

To answer your actual question, I generally do butter and peanut butter. So good, so rich, so delicious.

ListeningQuietly · 02/04/2021 15:13

PBJ is home made PB and ideally home made grape jelly I really miss my grandmother BUT the PB has to be crunchy and the J utterly smooth
sueelleker · 02/04/2021 15:13

@RavingAnnie

YABU butter is amazing and makes everything better. Plus peanut butter is dry and toast is dry so the butter provides some much needed moisture.
Totally agree.
SweetToffee · 02/04/2021 15:13

Too dry without the butter

AngusThermopyle · 02/04/2021 15:16

Definitely with butter, it's too dry and 'gacky' on the roof of my mouth otherwise.

lucertola28 · 02/04/2021 15:16

Toast, peanut butter and marmite. No extra butter.

Redact · 02/04/2021 15:16

YANBU - It never occurred to me to put butter and peanut butter on toast until a colleague mentioned it recently. I always have butter and jam/marmalade/syrup but no peanut butter/Nutella and butter just seem wrong
